A Haunting on Brockway Street (2019)
Unfortunately the crew here drops the ball on whats really going on here
Real you ask? Yes, this is all real with the exceptions listed:
People in this house had a preconceived idea on what's going on here and they are wrong. Their is a sequel coming because of how wrong they are:
1) There are almost no such thing as Child ghosts, children ascend. You don't have to believe me here on your religious convictions, but Just saying it here.
2) The picture of the Child Ghost they show, looks more like a Puckwudgie or Demon than a Child, so even if they thought it was a child, this should have clued them in. If they faked it, it would look like a child.
3) Either there is one very powerful Demonic spirit there or there are 2 Demonic Spirits
4) The "psychic" they bring in is clueless, atleast on this. she just tells everyone what they already told her. She may have a gift, but it wasn't there for this. If they did fake it, I would be more inclined to think that she would have made up stuff that was different from what they already told her. But, it was real and she is not a good psychic.
I have a friend who is an expert in this stuff and works with the Church. He was called in to clean up the mess they made here, which will be in the sequel. Hopefully it's produced better, but the content was real.
Nancy Drew (2019)
Well, Not bad but I have personal issues
Are we a society that just accepts the moral decline of this country? Nancy Drew a role model to young girls everywhere and we make her into a teen aged brat with a Buddy. She doesn't even now the guy, but jumps into sex with him on a regular basis (seemingly unprotected sex at that) and shes based on a Role Model for our children?
OK Kudos that it it is a multi racial thing. But We should be inspiring our youth to establish a relationship first before dropping your drawers, your teaching all these kids that it's sex first , relationship 2nd. I'm not against a role model character being made up to date, and more human, but atleast know the guys last name before you bang him at 18 years old.
As the show goes, there is a lot of promise given the material and prior success, but I'm not even certain besides Nancy and her Dad who the real cast is going to be, no connections (apparently not needed for a quickie) The pilot was flat and no character chemistry, but unlike Riverdale, the writers should not have a hard time putting together weekly mysteries with an overall theme. I love Riverdale, but writing for it has got to be an uphill task. The great cast keeps it together, but for Nancy Drew I think it's going to be the easy writing and hopefully a cast that grows on us.
Where's the limit.
Magnum P.I. (2018)
Is everyone going crazy?
This is a remake, there is always going to be differences. There is only 1 Tom Selleck and 1John Hillerman. That won't change, but lets give some slack to the new cast. The new cast is great. I thought I wasn't going to like it and was surprised I did. The changing of Higgins to a young Female was a brilliant move, it adds a new dynamic to the character and is building towards a sexual tension. I'm not sure why people thought the stunts were any more unrealistic than any other show history and most of those stunts are part of the book characters and not the actual characters. I think you need to give this show 3 or 4 episodes before being so judgmental and remember it is a remake.
If we throw Tom back into this, he would probably die from a heart attack and no one wants that. Maybe if Mr. Jay Hernandez grows a monster stache it would help?
The plot of the Selleck series was Thomas Sullivan Magnum, IV is an ex-Navy "NIA" (ONI) Lieutenant, and Vietnam Special Ops veteran who resigned his commission at age 33 because he never got to be 23. Does everyone forget that he was a sad excuse of a bad ass? Jay's character isn't too far off.
Maybe it plays a little more like Magnum PI meets Burn Notice, but I'm good with that.
Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi (2017)
This is not going to go the way you thought
Spoilers *** Don't read until after you have seen the movie
So, yah I wasn't a fan of what happens to Luke and how it's handled, and there seems to be some dialogue missing and the theory of chasing a fleet down, as opposed to jumping past them, well... Rule of Ninja, Stormtroopers and Imperial fleet Commanders in affect and the next Gen of Jedi don't need much training. And we need more Chewbacca.
That aside....
Everything else was intense, cool and awesome. The ties between Kylo and Rey creates an interesting bit that keeps you on your feet. The Comedy was maybe a bit much, but with all the death it was needed to balance the film.
Even with the plot holes I would still rate this #3 from the top (Empire#1, Star Wars #2, Rogue now number #4, Revenge #5 Jedi #6, Clones 7 and Phantom menace battling the Ewok Adventure for 8, 9 and 10 (11 is clearly the Holiday special, do not watch that, Carrie Fisher literally died the day my son saw this ) on my list of Star wars movies.
some will disagree getting to caught up in plot, but the plot wasn't inconceivable like Man of Steel, but seemingly other options were available.
The Lowe Files (2017)
Fun , I hope they do more seasons
So Rob Lowe and his kids take on the paranormal , bizarre and cryptids. They are approaching it in a fun manner and clearly given the nature of how they are handling it, everything they do is sincere. I can't speak for the guest "experts", but Rob is trying to keep it as real as possible. The only weakness I see is they use the one day approach, which gives you the odds of being bit by a shark in your swimming pool of finding something that is so elusive it's questionably real at all.
Iron Fist (2017)
Naive and un-inspired
Spoilers*** Iron Fist is a weaker entry in the new Netflix saga. While Rand should arguably be the best martial artist in the series (Stix, daredevil and Electra closely behind), he simply is lacking skill, couldn't they have found a decent stunt double? Colleen sword skills rival Kill Bills Bride and make real swordsman cringe in sadness. The plot is still broken up (im on episode 5) Why does a man with a vow of poverty want a multi-billion dollar company again? A million dollar living allowance? makes no sense. He just makes one bad decision after the next making Danny Rand come off as a dumb blonde. Seriously Stan Lee would be insulted at the use of a stereo type especially an insulting one.
