Christmas Movie Magic (2021)
Sweet
I really liked this one! I loved that it revolved around a hometown mystery and a 1950/s musical complete
Let's with a dance routine at the end. As a fan of old musicals especially "singin in the rain" I loved the homages. As lifetime/hallmark Christmas movies go this was one of my faves so far this year.
Emma (2009)
My fave Emma adaptation
As a Jane Austen fan I do feel the need to watch any and every adaptation of her books I can find including all the Emma adaptations but I do feel this is my favorite adaptation. ( although it has to be said clueless holds a special place forever in my heart 😉) I feel it really nails every character and the leads have great chemistry and really embody Emma and knightly. Very true to the book and since it is a miniseries it is able to capture the book without cutting much out of the story.
Set It Up (2018)
cute and good Rom com!!
I really enjoyed this one. It was cute and believable. I hope Netflix makes more rom coms on this level. I really enjoyed the main characters
Pitch Perfect 3 (2017)
disappointing
I had heard it really wasn't that great a movie but I wanted ot see it anyway because I LOVED the first and liked the 2nd. But sometimes even though you expect something ot not be great its still a major nummer when its worse than you thought it might be. I think I laughed out loud maybe twice and both were lines by John Michael Higgins but even he and Gail couldnt save the movie. Its almost like they couldn't agree which storyline to go with so they threw a bunch at the wall and said lets see what sticks! And the "action" storyline with fat amy really fell flat for me. Even John Lithgow who pretty much can do no wrong in my mind wasn't making it work. I think Amy is better in small doses. and I really missed Jesse Bumper and Benji. I kind of had a feeling Benji wouldnt be in it due to Evan Hanson but still disappointing to not get the other two in at all and only a quick mention about them. All in all disappointing.
Ghostbusters (2016)
enjoyable
I thought the movie was well done and funny! I mean when you have a talented cast such as this one its hard to mess it up. I feel compelled to write a review because i have actually SEEN the movie and yes I loved ghostbusters as a kid( and still do as an adult). It's up there on my fave all time comedies. I thought it was a good stand alone movie and had a lot of nice homages to the original movie. In no way do I feel it lessened the awesomeness of ghostbusters and why should it??? It was pretty nice to watch a movie with some girl power and i still love the original movie as well. Imagine that! It was enjoyable. Not the best movie ever but it does what it sets out to do; be an enjoyable popcorn movie. Although there are a lot of funny lines I feel Chris Hemsworth stands out and is hilarious! I feel it doesn't deserve the low scores and poor reviews it is getting. I say see it for yourself and form your own opinion but I was pleased.
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (2005)
wonderful adaptation
I just came back from seeing this movie. I was a huge fan of the books and couldn't wait for this movie. I was not disappointed in any way. THe acting is superb especially from the 4 children. The scenery is amazing and best of all is faithful to CS Lewis' work. The few scenes that were added only added to the story.
As for those worried about the Christian allegory you will only find it if you are looking for it. I personally took an interest in that subject and felt it added to the movie for me personally. However, if you do not wish to find it you will still enjoy the adventure of the Pevensie children. I would definitely recommend this movie to fans of the book as well as to new Narnian fans!
