Mission: Impossible: The Missile (1971)
Outrageous
They finally had a chance to catch Albert (P is silent) Pfister and they blew it only to catch Shoulders.
The main plot is awfully boring. They want to steal a rocket? "Click" now please steal it, cause it's a bogus rocket.
Come on!
It looks like they wanted this episode to be Phelps's drama, but Peter Graves is not an actor of necessary skills for such installment. That is why it is boring.
Shoulders kidnapping This Week's Chick was a nice addition, but still not enough for a whole episode.
And to think that they were eye to eye with the worst criminal Albert (P is silent) Pfister and they blew it to save the chick. Outrageous!!!
If you see nonsense in this review is only because this episode is a one huge dump of nonsense.
Jack Ryan (2018)
SEASON 2 is disappointing
After a very promissing start, much better than the season 1, this season looses its innovative momentum at the end of the episode 5. Last three episodes are poorly written. At least the plot twist in the end brings something fresh. I came up with such idea sometime around the episode 5, so it was nice to see it on screen.
The character of president Reyes is too much one-dimensional. An evil guy throughout the entire season. Boring. While this worked for Suleiman, an anger-driven terrorist, it does not work for a character who is an intellectual. Was it so hard for writers to present him as a person with dilemma, in which he chose wrong? Instead, we see a power-craving maniac without any quality motives, even though he was said to be a person of principles in his childhood.
Just why was the character Matice killed? Has the actor John Hoogenakker become tired with this role? I'm not surprised. Although he was a positive character and very helpfull to the main characters, I somehow didn't like him since the season 1.
Sometime in the future I will rewatch episodes 1 thru 5 and the end of the 8th, because they are good, better than whole season 1, and that's it. Maybe the producers should think about rewriting and reshooting the episodes 6 thru 8?
Star Trek: Discovery: Such Sweet Sorrow (2019)
Worst Star Trek episode... ever!
What was that?
No real action, only some pseudo-technological fiddling and tons of melodramatic good-byes like it was some sort of soap opera.
It's not at all constitent with Star Trek storytelling where the courageous crew is prepared to go whereever their fate leads them.
Not even Riker-in-a-flannel-shirt (TNG: Shades of gray) can match the nonsense of this episode.
Kler (2018)
The best Polish movie to the date
What was the quality problem with most of the earlier Polish movies? The action-oriented screenplays used to give only a coarse look on characters' inside, so the actors delivered their lines very flat, not showing much connection to the character. That was the reason that Polish cinematography was second-rate in comparison to world's best.
Now, the movie Kler is a game changer. It turns out, we have in Poland great actors who are able to play a character very deeply. Three main characters become entangled in a set of intrigues which cause each of them to show a lot of their personality, including traumatic childhood memories. Moreover, I didn't expect the final outcome, so the plot plays on viewer's feelings triggering the viewer to make false assumptions about the characters as plot progresses, what makes this movie very enjoyable to watch. All of that makes this movie is so worthy to be watched - it is a masterpiece of drama. To me, the world's best movie of 2018.
Many people are asking - is the plot of Kler real? The Roman-Catholic Church in Poland claims that some 90% of Poles are catholic, based on the number of administered baptisms. However as statistics show, less than 40% of Poles regularly attend masses, and only about a half of those observe the Church's conservative teachings. On the other hand, polls show that 70% of Poles are tired of the Church's influence on Poland, being angry about both right- and left-wing politicians colluding with influential bishops for their own good but against the interest of an average Polish citizen. This movie is meant to appeal to those 70%, so it is more important that this is how the majority of the Polish nation see their country's largest church, rather than if the plot itself is real.
The Big Bang Theory: The Military Miniaturization (2016)
The show is dead
Since the 7th season this show offered borderline quality. Apparently, all fun had been depleted by then, so all the following jokes were just repetitions.
The 9th season already had a few boring episodes, but gathering so many actors in the finale promised something to wait for.
But they failed.
The first episode of the 10th season was dull, this one was no better. They have there six regulars playing exactly the same in each episode, and after so many episodes they are not funny anymore. Boring and annoying more like.
Few years ago I was looking forward to Monday evenings. Now there is nothing to watch. This show is DEAD.
Mission: Impossible: Crack-Up (1972)
Good acting, poor writing
The IMF team is tasked with exposing a successful hit-man, who is also a chess master, and what's even more important, to expose his paymaster with a mob background.
The episode is very nicely played by Alex Cord, who guest stars as the hit-man, and Peter Breck as his brother, as well as the series' regulars.
However, in contrast to such interesting intrigue and good acting, the plot is absolutely ridiculous and unbelievable. The Mission Impossible series accustomed us with a system of small clever steps which gradually bring the heroes to their success in whatever the plot may be. In this episode there happen to be a magic black box that does all the trick - the hypnosis. Without any trouble the IMF team is able to hypnotize the main bad guy to do what they want whenever they want and then remember nothing so to confuse him.
So, where is the nisus, if the hypnosis is the magic box that so easily does all the tricks they need? Why didn't they use such hypnosis to combat all the bad guys in the other 170 episodes? This is what makes this episode's plot totally unacceptable in the light of the other M:I episodes, but it is still worth to watch Alex Cord and the rest for their artistic effort.
