Patrice O'Neal: Killing Is Easy (2021)
There will never be another...
I just can't help but to get emotional when I think about Patrice, his impact on my life, and what could have been. The documentary is excellent, it covers his childhood, growing up, his start... you see how he became what he is. It also shows what it costs to be like him, someone that stayed loyal to his core... almost to a fault. The right people are featured to talk about him, because they knew him best. I feel sad now feeling the same feeling I did when he died, and it's a feeling of "wow, there's no more new Patrice stuff out there anymore" even though the documentary shows a great amount of never seen before material. I just hope somehow, someway, Patrice gets to know how impactful he was on so many lives.
Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey (2020)
When you believe...
This movie has heart. It was suggested by a friend and I thought it'd just be another one of those cutesy familyfmusicals... but by the end... I was crying. Forest Whitaker is just amazing, and you might not think the story is all that great, but at the end, you realize how great it is. It's a movie about losing hope, giving up, and coming back from that. Really just give it a chance.
The Predator (2018)
Other sequels were actually better.
As hard as it may be to believe, Predator 2 and even Alien vs. Predator were much better films and sequels to the original. This was just not a good, entertaining or engaging film.
The film is actually quite confusing as far as the Predator-lore goes, and seems to copy a plot device from Predators. There are literally no charismatic or memorable characters, the whole "ragtag band of misfits" motif was not endearing at all.
For all the fuss Olivia Munn made about getting someone removed from the film, you would have thought she would be able to warrant her worth with some decent acting, it's not all Olivia's fault, her character is written and behaves in a way that just did not make sense.
Boyd Holbrook's McKenna is a complete and utter bore for a lead character. Arnold Schwarzenegger will never be confused with an Academy Award winner, but at least he looks and carries his character in Action films. McKenna does not look, sound or even have the presence of being a lead in an action film.
Another fallacy in this film is the gratuitous violence, which you want in an Action film, but this kind of violence just seemed overdone...however, not nearly as overdone by played out use of the F-word...I would have typed it out if not concern for having my review deleted, and the fact the film uses it so much, I cannot fathom uttering the word again for a very long time.
What does The Predator do right...cool CGI?
IF you didn't like any of the previous sequels, this one will not satisfy you, just go watch the original Predator...and get to da choppa!
Suicide Squad (2016)
Just above Halle Berry's Catwoman
Seriously, I would have been so mad if I wasted money paying to see this film in the theaters. First off, Jared Leto's "Joker" is very, very pathetic. The look, demeanor, simply atrocious, and the attempt at Heath Ledger's "Joker-talk" was cringe worthy. I pray God has mercy on his soul.
Will Smith and Margot Robbie actually do decent jobs with their characters, even though Robbie's "Punk Harley" suffered from being chained to Leto's Joker.
Plot wise...world domination...the end. Seriously, the plan for a movie villain does not have to always be world domination. It is also tiring to see bright giant beams channeling another dimension, while at the same time, leveling the Earth, for the 1 Billionth time.
This film did not feel connected in any way to the DCU, regardless of the fact Batman, Flash, Amanda Wheeler, and talks of Superman are featured. It was almost like "just because you said it...does not make it true!"
