Who's Talking to Chris Wallace (2022)
Real Journalism
The role of a journalist is to challenge and move their interviewee to defend and refute the presumptive narrative and allow them to articulate their alternative. They bring the facts, allow responses for general criticism, and refute the falsehoods. A bad journalist gives out soft ball questions or overly challenges and attacks their guest because arguing looks good on TV. There is a reason why Chris Wallace can interview anyone. Its because his interviews are challenging but fair. A great show. I have been partial to the political interviews, because interviewing actors and the like ain't that interesting to me.
Aziz Ansari: Right Now (2019)
A special Special
I saw the trailers and it looked kinda weird. Read some reviews, wasn't that interested. But I watched it and was actually happy with the time spent. Honest reflection, truthful expression, and a good vibe. Worth your while. First 10 minutes may seem like a drag, but he's setting you up for a good one. True Aziz fans will enjoy it.
Theeradha Vilaiyattu Pillai (2010)
Terribly stupid Don't waste your time
Please don't watch this train-wreck. Stupid story of "modern love". One of those movies you go to because you have nothing to do with your time, but then realize that sitting around doing nothing would have probably been better.
Raanjhanaa (2013)
Different and Superb
No doubt this film was very well made and thought out. As a south indian, watching Dhanush in a bollywood film was amazing and inspiring as he played his role in a manner that was stellar. The story is quite different from the usual bollywood love story angle and the orther aspects of the film with twists and turns made it enjoyable because it was so atypical. Sonam did a very good job especially considering her character being so emotionally deep. Sometimes she was annoying but perhaps that was the nature of her character in some ways so it wasn't a turn off. The music was fantastic as A.R. Rahman delivers yet again and overall it was a very well written script and acted movie!
Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018)
Better than expected
I was like all the skeptics. Looked kinda like some average fan film. Actors seemed wrong. And the amount of movies and shows coming seemingly makes Star Wars less charming. But I was pleasantly surprised. The amount of references to the Clone Wars and Rebels and the fact that it still stood as very different from the typical Star Wars formula was really good. There was good development of side characters with a good amount of comedy that wasn't overly forced. Looks like the anthology films are doing pretty well.
Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi (2017)
Different but NECESSARY
I find it odd that people think this movie is so bad. I think it was because viewer's heads were on a swivel the whole time. The expectations for this movie were too simple, original, and based on fan theories. When people didn't get what they wanted, they called it the worst movie ever. I agree I wanted Luke's role to be stronger, Finn and Rose to have a more meaningful part, and a Snoke backstory, but it is what it is. I think because this took a step away from the textbook write up for a Star Wars movie people are hating on it. I am sure if people understand the point of the movie to move forward in the story instead of more cameos and the same lines, there would be much more appreciation. I myself did not like a good number of what happened in the movie, but you have to understand the reasoning behind it and realize that, it had some killer moments in there that made people amazed. I hate how this is tearing Star Wars fandom apart, but there will never be satisfaction. TFA was too similar to the originals, and it was criticized, now the TLJ is not that similar to the original, and is being criticized. Just recognize the good aspects of both and lets wait until 9. Assuming J.J. doesn't screw that up.
