Hagane no renkinjutsushi: Rekka no saki ni (2010)
The best episode in the show
Envy is one of the most hateful, sadistic, despicable, and downright pure evil villains I've ever seen. The entire show your just desperately rooting for them to die in the most painful and karmic way possible. When Mustang finally confronts Envy, that's what I thought was about to happen, only for the show to completely flip things around. Envy's death is not cathartic at all, and rather manages to be highly disturbing. You watch as Mustang steadily loses himself in his pure hatred and need for revenge, creating some truly unsettling visuals of the hatred in his eyes as he incinerates envy over and over again. And just when it's about to come to a head, the other characters have to come in and save him from himself in a very tense scene where he seems like he might be on the brink of killing his own friends to satisfy his revenge, and is just barely brought back from the brink. The relief is then cut short as envy undergoes a full breakdown as the humans they have put down throughout the entire show prove themselves to be capable of much reason and compassion than they ever gave credit for. As envy reveals the truth of their own name and tearfully crushes their own philosopher's stone it is an astonishingly somber and quiet moment. This show forever earned my respect as it took the death of one of the most hated characters and manage to generate some genuine sympathy for them in their final moments. This is the true core of why I adore this show. It also helps that later in the episode Major Armstrong pulls off one of the most incredible and badass moves I've ever seen in the fight against sloth, just to prove how versatile the show can be as well

0/5
Dunkey has obnoxious, bubble music, repetitive level design, and hates bookworm adventures because it is black. 9.1/10, it has a little something for everyone.
