Ghoomer (2023)
What a brilliant, authentic and soulful movie!
A story of hope in adversity! Well crafted, and backed by great acting from the leads as well as supporting cast.
What stood out also for me was the nitty details such as the technical dimension of the actual cricketing shots & players being top notch as well. Sometimes in sports based movies, while the story / script are great, the technician aspect of the actors playing the sports is a let down. This film doesn't fall into that trap, so kudos to the great attention to detail by R. Balki.
Some dramatic license in the end, but that makes it entertaining I think vs take anything away from the emotional payoff.
Must watch! And please try to do so in theatres.
Dexter: New Blood: Sins of the Father (2022)
WHY? WHY? WHY?
What I'm wrestling with is why did they have to screw up In the end. Until episode 9, everything was setup perfect... And then suddenly, the writing went awry, and the script felt forced and impatient..
Think the prison scene with Logan was the inflection point, when it just fell apart. It sometimes makes me wish they had ended on Epsiode 9, and done another season (even with 5-6 episodes of not more) to massage and ease out a better ending..
You can't avoid watching this episode if you've watched the previous 9, but you almost feel like you wish you hadn't..
Don't Look Up (2021)
Surprised it's not an 8+? What's not to like about this movie.
Won't reveal more details than you already know. Found the movie funny, engaging and brilliant satire on the state of the world by using a catastrophic event of an approaching comet as the central theme. Brilliant ensemble cast, with Leo and JLaw nailing their performances in the lead.
A great watch for the year end holidays. So Netflix and chill!!
Dexter: New Blood (2021)
Recently edited this : It IS as brilliant as the earlier seasons! And I'm lovin' it!
After about 300+ odd ratings, I am writing a review for the 1st time, as it's so cool to see Micheal C Hall reprising the role again! He nailed it in the original series, and possibly due to the weak ending, one kept longing for more...
The early episodes start decently, almost like a roller-coaster slowly going up the first hill, before it pulls us into a hair raising experience! Am still revelling in the bliss of watching something that is not a rerun of Dexter ;)
Rasbhari (2019)
Please stay away.. Or end up ruining good hours of your life
Main issue : The swag an average actress has in trying to carry off a pathetic script thinking its an unconventional, hatke kinda role. Was bored from the get go, and then I reminded myself of the sunk cost concept, and abandoned this in time. Phew!
