Resident Alien: Avian Flu (2024)

Just ok
17 March 2024
There's various bits in there that actually move the story along, but unfortunately there's also loads of boring slow bits that are irrelevant to the story and just feel like filler to stretch out the episodes. To be honest I'd be fine with the season being fewer episodes so the story could progress at a decent rate. Them trying to further expand into the lives of other characters in the most boring, mundane ways, just grinds the progress to a halt. I don't care about some cousins gay wedding or your estranged kid you're trying to form a relationship with. Get on with the actual story. Even the stuff with the cops is a bit dull and that is at least connected to aliens. Seeing harry being in love was at least somewhat entertaining. This show feels more and more like a background watch. Every now and then we get a good ep, but there's always filler crap like this. Meh.

Okay plot, songs are hit and miss
13 August 2023
Mostly miss with the songs. Sound like they were quickly written without much thought. And since the songs were all obviously ADR'd, and autotuned separately, it sounds weird in each song as they suddenly sound different to how they sounded a second ago in the scene.

The final song is decent, and the bit with the Klingons was humorous. There are some decent plot points in it but most stuff is pushed aside or not being too serious considering the path the episode is walking. I suppose it was ok, but some of the songs I just wanted them to end, others were alright. It really depends on what you enjoy out of TV shows, you mileage may vary a lot with this one. Comparing to other shows that have tried this, I'd say Scrubs probably did it best, and the songs were a lot better there. Again it's a very subjective episode and depends more heavily with your personal taste. For me it was just ok.

Simply put
28 March 2022
This episode is an example of the extreme ineptitude of the entire senior staff. The premise is interesting but it just digresses into utter idiocy on the crews part. Being carefree with an unknown person and ignoring any signs of trouble or malicious intent.

Take it as it is.
23 September 2021
As just some silly mash up of characters and silliness, it feels like a cartoon from the 90s. It definitely feels aimed at kids. In that regard it's quite good.

But as a What If episode, it fails. Because other than the title, it's not a What If episode.

It doesn't follow the premise of the key characters life going differently at some point, from what we already know, to the following story.

Instead the change is made from the beginning of their life, so it's a completely different character. In fact most of the characters in it are.

Finally a good episode
2 September 2021
After the mediocrity of the previous episodes I thought this whole show was gonna be just average at best. But this episode shows some real promise. It doesn't go where you expect it to by the end, and was a lot more powerful than the previous episodes. I hope more are as well written as this one.

As with the others the soundtrack is good but the simplistic animation style is still a little bit off putting. Given their budget we could have something akin to the high end anime Japan produces in certain films. This just looks a bit too basic.

Poor, about the same as the first one.
20 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
It's not a good outlook for the show. Two mediocre episodes so far with unbelievable choices and happenings. But this one, no.

Yondu is now a kind kidnapping murdering thief who gives it all up to show a kid around the universe... Yeah right.

T'challa is space Jesus that gets bad people to become good just by talking to them a bit.

Thanos iron will of finding the stones and wiping out half of all life is swapped to joining T'challa in helping people instead.

This is less What If and more complete reversal of every character, except the collector I suppose. And why on earth would T'challa pick the name Starlord, that Peter picked. As if two massively different characters would both do that.

Again animation is kinda weak, looks like something rendered in SFM on an old computer. And all the injuries people take, including being stabbed leave not even a scratch.

Musical score is decent but a lot of the voice acting sounds weak, like they don't know how to sound without a camera filming them.

Over all it's just poor. Too many issues.

A real shame to have Chad's last work be something so mundane.

And an impression that the rest of the series is gonna be as half arsed.

Don't know what all the complaining is about?
31 December 2020
It's not a bad film by any means. Feels a bit longer than it needs to be. plot is a bit slow in places but otherwise a decent enough film. Probably about as good as the first one which I'd say was also a decent enough film. Nothing amazing but certainly not bad. I think people today just love to jump aboard the hate train.

From the usual cringy bad acting, terrible dialogue, poor pacing. dull fights. It was a bore to get through.

Pretty good, if predictable
27 August 2019
You can tell where they're going with a lot of it. Quite a few characters feel wasted or pointless. Various bland meaningless bits just to keep the plot going. Some of them are at least well written to an extent, and there are some good moments. The end reveal is a cliffhanger, but throws so much to the wall, it hasn't really enticed me for S2 much. I kinda feel like S2 will just be full of various misleads as well. The acting is quite good, most actors fit the character very well. Soundtrack is alright. About as expected to be honest.
