Antibirth (2016)
Hoped it would improve...Never did for me
The script and plot just didn't flow. I enjoy most horror and most indie flicks....this ain't one however.
My first gripe, it is booked as horror, comedy, thriller, mystery...it wasn't thrilling, the mystery was what was I watching essentially. Horror, it was on off trying to be creepy/scary horror like. My big confusion...where was the comedy factor. It was so annoying it became a running joke whilst watching, I would be asking my partner if this part and that part was comedy, maybe categorised wrong?? Comedy horror is like "Shaun of the Dead" for instance.
Characters weren't memorable or likeable in anyway. So they didn't make me stay engaged with the film. The film ended up being background noise, hoping it would improve.
The special effects...just terrible, shows budget must have been low...real low.
I would recommend watching/re-watching an 80's cult classic horror over watching this film any day.
Had to watch another horror film to palate cleanser my mind from what a poor viewing this film was.
The Green Knight (2021)
Save your time, go to another film.
Graphically nice, film is put together in such an order it leaves you thinking WTF did I just watch. Huge dull patches in film also. There are many scenes that don't make any sense.
Best advice I can, avoid this film. Save your money and time for something worth watching.
Otherwise go watch "Donnie Darko" instead. Far more entertaining.
Jurassic Shark 2: Aquapocalypse (2021)
Succeeded in making worst shark film ever....
Bad acting...check
Bad continuity of scenery, scene to scene...check
Shark CG is rubbish....check
50ft shark, 10 times the size of any shark (swimming in shallow water)....check
The shark is a hand puppet in some scenes when killing...check
Workplaces using PC's not turned on..check
Bad line deliveries...check
Some scenes clearly screen filler time go way to long...check
And the list goes on.....
Color Out of Space (2019)
By mid film was entertaining myself with YouTube on my mobile...
This film was recommended to me as being a really good horror film...it wasn't.
Start has plot, creating scene....midfilm, it's derailing itself with to much movie magic effects....end of film, makes no sense.
Acting issues, Nicolas Cage trying represent angry/upset character...tragic how bad it is.
The only pro to this film, if you like colours and a reasonable pallete range. Don't care about the film premise, plot, or characters. You might find something salvageable from this film.
The Saw, franchise has better horror, and effects.
Waxwork (1988)
Exactly 80's feel horror film, fun plot.
Exactly as advertised, not expecting 2020 movie tech effects here, just good old horror film where people are getting picked off one at a time. I found it to be fun and enjoyable. Acting was better than I was expecting also.
Evil Things (2009)
Scary...no, the script...my god
This film wasn't scary, it came across to me as a bunch friends who don't get along, bicker at the slightest problem. The go to girls screaming was obnoxious and unnecessary at every chance. When the script is thin, fill it with talking to the character who is filming the entire time. Save yourself the time effort, better films out there.
The Grudge (2019)
Not my horror flavour, to soft compared to the original.
I tried to but couldn't enjoy this film. Kept trying to compare shock value from the original, it felt like recycled scenes but done worse. For the 2020 horror scene maybe acceptable, but I prefer a more graphic, horror film.
Characters didn't bond as well as original film. The plot in particular didn't seem strong either.
GLOW (2017)
So enjoyable and refreshing.
Just sit down and binge it on Netflix.
How they build characters, the live show, the mishaps, just thoroughly enjoyable.
Addictive like Stranger Things.
Realms (2017)
One of the worst films I have watched in recent years.
Plot...story...acting....just atrocious.
Confusing to even follow to the point I had to google at the end to get some movie closure on this one.
Give this a miss, you are better rewatching a horror you have and know is at least enjoyable.
3 from Hell (2019)
Well..
You know what they say about follow up films, they generally aren't as good as the first. This suffers that issue.
Sad, the actor who played Captain Spalding died and was not able to really be a big part of this film. The new character introduced, that is what didn't flow with the film and made it difficult to sit through.
Had to watch the first film after this as a palate cleanser.
Us (2019)
It's a thinker, but also drama/horror.
I can understand the low review ratings. I found this film great, but it took a second viewing to piece some parts for instance props that were used on set, etc. Everything has a symbolic meaning in this drama/horror movie. I enjoyed it as it makes you think.
Gemini Man (2019)
Good action flick, predictable story.
It's got good action scenes, gun fights, chases on foot/car/bike. But whilst you watching it you just have a hunch how it will run to the end. So just try not to think about it too much, and enjoy it as an action flick.
Rewatch ability of this film, seen it next film and moving on.
Doom: Annihilation (2019)
Cheaply Produced & Unoriginal, Shouldn't been made.
So think Aliens, planet a colony to save, then think Resident Evil first film, the labs, etc. Except done on a small budget.... At one point we were saying the enemy looked like power ranger villains from the 90's. Now you can go they had a budget...blown on rubbish CGI scenery effects in the last 20 minutes. Abomination, through and through. Not that I expected any better, it's a game turned movie. But there are much better things to watch than this.
