Wednesday (2022)
Jenna Ortega is not perfect for this role. This role is perfect for her!
This was a surprise I was not expecting. This show is here to entertain us and oh boy it did.
Jenna Ortega did amazing job and so did all other actors. With these kind of roles it can get a bit sketchy over time, but not here. The story is interesting and the dialogues were written really good. There are some lazy writing fillers, but honestly they fit perfectly for the purpose to focus on bigger picture and not hang on endless details.
Also fans of other movies that are made around magic and beasts will enjoy the Easter eggs this series have. Its almost like quiz to make you more invested into the show.
I'm so glad I watched this!
Two and a Half Men: I Called Him Magoo (2010)
Definitely a top 3 episode of whole show
Its surprisingly clever. The writing is excellent and comedy is the smart type, I love clever comedy and this was quite refreshing. They should have kept it this way but sadely they eventually they dbed the show down...
Army of Thieves (2021)
Wow, I did not expect it to be this good of entertainment!
It is great to see a film about story rather than about actors and their infinite iteration of Deadpool characters. The main character has an actual flavor that you want to explore. And the places this move has brought me through were astonishing. If you are kinda person who likes to sink in to the story, this is the film to watch and to get entertained! I am really glad I gave this a chance.
The Alienist (2018)
Season 1: 8/10, Season 2: 4/10
The 2nd season is not about Alienist, he has no use in this show. Instead its all about detective Sara, which would not be a bad thing, if only the whole plot wasn't forcefully bent around her and done almost laughably bad.
Everything that even seems like would be a bad thing for her, finally a struggle that could make this somewhat believable, magically turns out to be even better for her.
If You have not seen first season, watch it - its really great, but don't ruin it for you and stop at season 1.
Another Life (2019)
Bunch of narcisist teens trying that people on earth decided to get rid of
Whole civilisation is at stake and it is left to a bunch of people where each trying to be cooler/dominant than others. And an AI with a human look.
When You hear a highly educated person speak within his field, You can hear he is a highly educated person. None of the characters here give You that feeling. Its morle like a reality TV show with teens... Not gonna go for 2nd episode.
The Umbrella Academy (2019)
Slow paced, with occasional gem
A great TV series about people with super powers. It's really slow paced, but You don't feel it, unless Ellen Page is in the scene - she way overacted the emotions of Hers, and a few times I even found my self forwarding to next scene. But those moments are forgotten with occasional artistically or contextually really well made scenes. Worth a watch.
Aidan Gallagher and Robert Sheehan did amazingly well in this series!
Extinction (2018)
I rate this movie 4/10 ...or 8/10...
This is that type of movie where I can't tell what feeling did writers wanted to create. I somehow feel I had completely opposite emotions than this movie inteded me to have. When the plot twist was revealed, I emediately had gone for the opposte, and rooted for the "bad" guys to kill that family, to kill all of them - wipe them from the face of the Earth. I didn't care if they have "emotions".
But that's the thing - maybe it was a message about AI and how we shouldn't go too far, but I really hope this movie wasn't a metaphor for the racism that netflix are going for lately, if it was they f-ed up so badly.
Lost in Space (2018)
If You ignore all the BS between some mild action, it is watchable.
The whole story is actually quite good untill You see how it is executed. I mean there is so much bs that in fifth episode I started to skip drama conversations. They are so overacted and so out of the place. All the characters are so stupid. When there is a human dying and potentially saving him may compromise something other and put all other people at stake, they will choose to save one person in a way all others might die, allthough it is clear You can do bouth. Basically this TV show is full of cliche's and stupid decisions, if they added a bit more it would have been a parody. Even the intro music is way too "star trek-y" and feels like parody. This is not worth watching, but if You love sci-fi might give it a try, though be ready that this is a fammily friendly dull drama series.
The Fate of the Furious (2017)
This should be a MARVEL movie (that Statham saved)
*** This review contains some small spoilers***
So we are getting worse by each movie. This movie was like a billionaire's daughter birthday party - it was bullshit, but everyone enjoyed it because it cost a lot of money. I just want to say "thank you" to Statham, because somehow he managed to save this one, I don't know how yet, but he did.
To sum it up. If You have a few beers in Your fridge, then get them and watch this movie. If You want to enjoy Your 10 YO whiskey, then go for another movie, because You will constantly yell "that's not even possible"
Louis C.K. 2017 (2017)
A lost comedian in need of money ...I guess
I love Louis C.K. I get his humor and jokes, and I like them. But this here, was not an ordinary Louis C.K. This is the worst stand up in last 20 years of him.
In previous shows I really liked how he turned around something common, something You didn't ever think about, but here it even felt like he was trying to make a late night show monologue on current problems.
There where actually like 5 minutes in dead silence in the middle of the show. It was a moment when You start to think "This is sad". And I know that He likes to balance between "Ha ha ha - I can't anymore" and "What just happened?Did he just had a breakdown?" And in most cases this works, and He nails it - but not in this show. As He previously said "It's funny to me" so I guess he did it on purpose.
***SPOILER ALERT***
He opens with abortion, and the way he starts this was funny. But in other shows jokes he has an opinion on the matter, but this joke ends with him telling that he does not think that, and then he changes that he thinks that, but then again changes his opinion entirely. I haven't seen something like that in his jokes, usually he stand to it by the end and then tells that this is how he feels, or maybe that it isn't the way that works, but never changing his opinion on the matter.
So at the end - there was only one funny joke where I lough out loud - about year 3 and how can it be year 3 when I am 26. A really funny sketch.
But that's it. I guess I would be really angry if the one show I would visit live was this one...
Sorry
