His Only Son (2023)
Points to the cross every step
This wonderful movie has been hijacked by false ratings. Before we went to watch the movie at 9:20 pm Saturday night, the movie had an 8.1 rating. It's 6:30 am Sunday morning and currently down to 7 with no new reviews but several new one star ratings. The odds that those ratings are from real watchers of this movie is fairly minuscule which, after watching it myself, tells me one thing. There is something very right with this movie. The story is accurate, the movie well-acted and well-made. At every step, it points to Jesus. Watch carefully and see those moments where a particular scene or clip shows a glimpse of the Gospel. Someone called it dark, but sitting beside my only child, this movie drove home to me how Abraham must have felt. And how God felt, in some small way, when it came to "His Only Son". Christians, you will not be disappointed by the theology. Non-Christians, it's a good movie that you can relate to if you have anyone you love and don't want to lose. See for yourself, and then rate and review. Don't let the fake ratings trick people from a wonderfully done story that proclaims the Good News.
Wedding Season (2022)
Annoying AF
Could Katie be any more irritating? The character and actress are both grating. Absolutely nothing about her that makes me want to root for her. I like the concept of this show but she's ruining it for me. I get that she needs to be somewhat abrasive but it's possible to do that without alienating your audience entirely. And Stefan is rather pathetic to chase someone who is so clearly antagonistic toward him and everyone else. But at least I want to like him. He's hopeful, if a bit naive. I'm definitely taking the show too personally because of how much Katie irritates me but Episode 3 may be my last episode. Good luck to those who stick it out.
