Breakout Kings (2011)
I can see why it got cancelled
The whole first season, no one wore bulletproof vests. The plots were weak, the story lines were unbelievable. they portrayed prison guards as disrespectful and at times abusive towards prisoners. Top notch team. One was an academy washout. One lived in a halfway house, one had a serious heart problem and three were Convicts.
Season 2 went down hill when they killed off Charlie. Then it really turned into the "Erica Show". Couldn't get into her. She looked like a mix between Megan Fox & Lindsay Lohan. Shea's character got tiresome with his constant crying racism.
The show held my interest. But if missed it it was no big whoop. And at times it was on for background noise as I did something else.
The Interview (2014)
Where did the 7 minutes go?
Where did the seven minutes go? That's all I could handle of Seth Rogen. His acting is the same from movie to movie. The only reason I gave it three stars was all the hype about North Korea that I'm still not totally convinced wasn't created by Sony in the first place. The movie starts, and within moments Rogen starts his usual, predictable pedantic slew of curses. Maybe I should have given it more time? If the meal is bad after the first bite, do you continue to keep eating it? No. As foe Franco, He has talent. I enjoyed his portrayal as The Wizard in his Oz remake. And In his Spiderman movie. Now where does this movie go? as a blockbuster? I doubt it. As just another controversial movie that in ten years, people will forget it's name when they ask "what was the name of that weird movie that made Korea mad??"
X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014)
Ran out of magic
I think the X-Men movies had a good run and now it seems it should just end. It was choppy, it was dark. And unless you really follow the X-Men in both the movies and comic books, this movie will leave you confused. I watched the movies and I was still confused. When it comes to time travel, it just opens a tall bottle of questions. Of course Magneto is back as the bad guy. That adds to my angst. Did the X-Men have no other villains? Just like the Batman franchise, always the Joker. Just like the Spiderman franchise, always the Green Goblin. So why wasn't I surprised. Nothing in this movie stood out to me. No one character grabbed my attention. Though it was refreshing to see Kitty Pryde / Shadowcat finally getting air time and not all Halle "lookit me lookit me" Berry. So again, Redbox saved the day. Only $1.27 to rent it. Not $12 at the theater and definitely not $20 for DVD or $30 for Blu Ray. I gave the movie a generous 5 in case it was me and I missed or misunderstood vital info in the other X-Men / Wolverine movies that lead to this movie.
Neighbors (2014)
Redbox $1.27
No Spoilers here because I couldn't finish watching it. 30 minutes was all I could handle. It was an awful, non-funny movie. And thank God for Redbox. I only wasted $1.27 to rent this cinematic Hindenburg. There's nothing worse than blowing money for tickets, popcorn and soda and then leaving the theater after seeing a horrible movie. I think any positive reviews written here are probably written by either die hard Seth Rogen fans, or by the movie production company themselves. The 30 minutes I watched just seemed to be a constant back and forth banter between Rogen and whoever played the wife with the at times, hard to understand Australian accent. So I gave it a "3" and that was generous because I did take into account that maybe I'm losing my sense of humor as I get older?
