The Spine of Night (2021)
Cheap Heavy Metal rip-off
It's just a cheap rip-off of Heavy Metal. Without the awesome soundtrack.
The animations are for the most part atrocious. But the backgrounds are decent.
Cheap, trashy and forgettable.
Overlord (2018)
Cheap, even for Nazisploitation
Poorly written and chock-full of clichés.
This was just uninspired: nothing here you haven't seen over a hundred times already.
Nazisploitation, as a genre, has a frighteningly low quality standard and still this film manages to be one of the worst ones I've seen, commiting the biggest mortal sin of any film: Being boring and uninteresting.
I loved the song used during the end-credits, really fits the period this is supposed to represent well.
Downrange (2017)
Ruined by the ending.
Interesting and suspenseful for about 9/10 of its runtime, but then comes the ending...
Lazy and contrived, is what that ending was.
I wouldn't recommend this after watching the (anti)climax.
What a waste of an otherwise intriguing setup.
Kokuhaku (2010)
Great movie, terrible soundtrack.
I thought this movie was incredible: well thought-out and thoughtprovoking, but sweet christ does the soundtrack suck...
Almost drags it down...
The visuals are to die for and the overall tone is amazing.
But then there is the worst soundtrack I have ever heard in japanese film.
I'd still recommend everyone sees this despite the soundtrack.
