One of the better MCU films 9/10
22 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I went to watch this on the week of its opening, and it was brilliant! The film as a whole was very entertaining, and yes the formula is standard for Marvel now but it worked well here.

The villain was better than most MCU villains and actually (following a post credit scene), really left our hero with a dire consequence. I loved the whole Drone aspect as it was not too far from our current technological advances so the feel felt more grounded.

The follow on from Endgame and Tony Starks death really was a key plot point here, and they pulled it off expertly with the glasses he leaves for Peter. The action sequences were fun and exciting, and there was more emphasis on Peter's spider senses here which was nice. The reason I have marked it down by 1 star is because I feel they could have utilised Jake Gyllenhaal a bit more given his talent and screen presence. And there is also one scene in a bar that felt WAY too heavy on exposition.

Apart from that, its worth the ticket price! Go see it! 9/10

A solid found-footage style movie, with a good concept and genuine scares!
22 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Me and my partner were browsing Amazon Prime, hoping to find a horror film that would genuinely give us a creepy atmosphere, and not just be a low budget cheap knock off. Fortunately we found Hell House LLC. This film was brilliant, and it comes down to the following reasons;

The concept/background: So it is a simple premise. A group of friends like to create haunt's for Halloween every year, and have found "Hell House", an abandoned property which they feel is ideal for their next attraction. As you can imagine, the house has a dark history with some rather unsettled spirits present.

The atmosphere/scares: The atmosphere was thick with tension and also gave you a sense of claustrophobia at times. From the first 5 minutes with this documentary style introduction, you are left with a cold shiver down your spine. The film then proceeds to have a rather slow build up but the tension keeps increasing. The scares mainly consist of props, but these are genuinely creative and frightening moments. (If you are scared of clowns/dolls - you will hate moments of this movie).

Why have I knocked off 2 stars? I personally felt that the ending was a bit unnecessary. I would have preferred a bit more of a ambiguous ending which left certain plot points open.

Fear the Walking Dead: The Good Man (2015)
Season 1, Episode 6
10/10
If only the rest of the season was like this...
2 February 2017
Warning: Spoilers
So following what was a rather mediocre opening to a new series, the finale really did tie up some loose ends and also opened the doorway to what lies ahead in Season 2.

This episode was structure with a lot more care than the rest of the season... yes there are some obvious consistency issues. For example, bullets cant go through fences with hundreds of gaps, and trained Military soldiers have the aim of a retiree attempting to fire a rifle for the first time.

Also, would it really be that easy to just walk slowly in front of a horde of extremely hungry cannibalistic zombies?

Moving along from these issues, this episode delivered the goods. We begin to see more of a breakdown and panic which we were expecting from the start. The military zone falls, and our main group stride to escape with their loved ones. Some characters are taken from us, and the final scene of this episode is something I loved. We will come back to that momentarily.

We finally see Travis snap. He becomes the man he was always supposed to be in order to protect his family. We see a far more brutal side to him than we have before, and this was a welcomed change.

I wont ponder too much on this, since if you want to see it you should just watch this. It is not like The Walking Dead at all. Fear The Walking Dead instead takes a slightly different approach with better cinematography, far more effective moments at times, and a far more polished environment. Yes, a lot of people wanted more zombie action, but this is a character study before a zombie study. The characters may be stupid at times but this is simply realistic, because in any situation of shock or terror, humans become inconsistent and foolish.

The final scene. This was something that really made me feel for the characters for the first time. We finally get to what appears to be a "safe-haven" for a moment. Our characters get a moment to relax and rest. This swiftly comes to and end when a character is infected and must be put down. What follows is by far one of the most beautifully shot, and emotional set pieces for the loss of a character. Can I also add that the music choices of this series are amazing.

In total I would give this season as a whole a 7/10. This episode however deserves a 10. I was willing to look past its flaws and focus on its key pivotal moments. And there were plenty.

Half in the Bag (2011– )
10/10
Pure hilarity
2 February 2017
I started watching Half In The Bag 2 years ago. Watching the channel grow has been a true pleasure since this is by far the most hilariously inappropriate yet also professional blend of comedy gold and satire.

The set-piece of "Lightning fast VHS" is a brilliant addition adding a lot more creativity than your average YouTube channel that deem their reviews to be "hilarity's". We follow Mike and Jay, and Mr.Plinkett, an otherwise unsettling and sinister old man who like to make love to his pets and abuse hookers. Mike and Jay both play the parts of VHS repair men looking to extort money from Mr. Plinkett by attempting to repair his VHS. Those Female Russian Terminator tapes ain't gonna watch themselves you know! I wont go into a lot of details, since you really have to watch this show to enjoy and admire its sheer levels of comedy that make you question "Why is Adam Sandler so rich, when these guys are far more hilarious?!". Speaking of that con-man, I would advise starting with the wet yourself.

One last note also - Rich Evans is a majestic human being. Every street corner should contain at least one Rich Evans. His laughter is like butter to the ears...

Love it! 10/10
