The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy (2024)
Bright and boring
There's a clear "Target Audience" for this show and it's clearly not people that appreciate cohesive story lines, good dialog or acting, it's seems to be trying mimic Rick and Morty via Daria minus any interesting scenarios or likable characters.
The acting is flat and why the hell Sam smith is involved baffles me, as he and the majority of other actors sound phoned in and disinterested
The main characters have no real personalities outside of their one dimensional character flaws, the writing is stale and focuses primarily on a juvenile preoccupation with occasionally having some sort of sexual reference to keep you interested, like shouting a rude word in a crowd, but with far less impact or
Awkward relationships seem to be the meat of the series so far, with the hospital being secondary, the art style is somewhat enjoyable but after two episodes I felt like I'd been staring at a pastel lightbulb for an hour, which would have been equally entertaining.
Upon reaching the end I can say it didn't get any better, there are far better shows out there if you actually want to be entertained.
The Invitation (2015)
So predictable I thought I'd seen it before
Ill start by saying the lighting and cinematography are great, after that I don't have any more positives to offer unfortunately
Dealing with themes of grief, cults and paranoia all taking place at a dinner party, it's various "twists" were so telegraphed you don't need a telescope to see them coming a mile away, the pacing is very slow so much so that at the midway point I decided to create an account here just to vent.
Any tension is buried by either terrible acting or bad direction I truly can't tell, but characters being obviously shifty/creepy from the start stopped any possible revelation as to what was about to happen at the climax, after that all that's left are the minor characters who were fundamentally one dimensional and unlikable.
The Wrong Trousers (1993)
Funny, Timeless and Impressive
Possibly the best of the Wallace and Gromit films, it's still funny and charming to this Day, stop motion and puppetry still feel more captivating than CG in 2020 and Aardman always deliver when it comes an innocent and honest sense of humour and character. I wish there were more stars to give.
The Meg (2018)
Better than Titanic
You know it's going to be bad and it doesn't disappoint, unfortunately not so bad it's good. Just bad, if your hoping for a gore fest or even jump scares you're out of luck it's incredibly tame. But for the one laugh I got when a Roomba with a shark fin on appeared, it earned another star. It's remarkably middle ground and I only attempted it because there's hardly anything else to watch on prime and my free membership is up soon.
