Jens i Mongolia (2024)
Yaawn.
Yet another series of a westerner trying hard to blend into a culture and way of life he has zero chance to even have an iota of understanding.
But they still think that this «fish out of the water» idea makes good television.
It does not.
That recepie has worned out. It is condescending to the cultures that the «protagonist» visits snd it is condescending towards the viewer.
The era of Simon Reeves visiting cultures beyond the British Realm and the viewer automatically being overwhelmed by his ( or hers) experiences are over.
It peaked with Michael Palins travels- which were outstanding. It went downhill from there.
«Jens in Mongolia» is dredging old ground an fails.
Cammo (2023)
Very warmly recommended.
One of the best series from a state-soviet-style self-owned company of NRK.
Lucky for them they had a creator and main star Caroline Glomnes both behind and in front of the camera.
Easy on the eyes as Glomnes is, she carries her charachter with wit, sarcasm, the total lack of self-awareness ( she reflects an «influencer) as easy as David Brent would have. The David Brent of the world of influencers. Played with warmth and pure joyfullness as expressed by all the actors.
The plot is a selfaware influencer that somehow gets to be a custodian of a girl with Downs-syndrome.
Norwegian TV never shy away of possible sink-holes. They just carries on through. Not PC. But with huge warmth underneath.
A total joy to watch.
Utmark (2021)
The end of Norwegian Acting.
How actors can participate in this fest of mediocracy is beyond believable. Once thought to be good actors are now the drain of the traid. Sad.
Triple Frontier (2019)
Netflix goes Netflix in the wrong way.
Before I review this film, I want to mention that I've seen it about ten times and have yet to stop laughing at any of the jokes. This is one of the best written and acted comedies that I've ever seen. The plot is airtight, and the jokes are perfectly timed and delivered. This is due in large part to the spectacular cast of the film.
This is so hilariously dum on every account, script(did they have one?), direction (did they really?) Actors-they really went with this? Every one of them should really need a good look in the mirror and ask:did I really do this?
This is a comedy of Hollywood-Film. Monty Python could not have done this better.
Its just but a flesh-wound they said. Well sadly it is not. Hollywood is dead.
