Leave the World Behind (2023)
Amazing, but a little too short for a deep story.
The third act feels rushed. I would've really not minded if they added 30 extra minutes to the already 2h20m runtime as I was truly engaged into the storyline. It is beautifully filmed with raw believable acting from a high profile cast, which was hyped with urge. However, to me this felt like a wasted finale or this movie would've been really powerful. Instead it felt pushed out too early because by the end there was no proper conclusion or fulfilling a sense of closure, even though you can put some of the pieces together with the clues it already gives you. But If it's not finished to us by the time the 3rd act is nearing its 'middle' or end, and it's not resolved even in the smallest filler details, it's probably a decent idea to run with a sequel as someone pointed out to me.
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (2017)
A feel good and self-inspiring show!
So, I've been indulging in a show I think as lightening in a bottle... The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, which was referred to me from a good friend. The success story and how she deals with her ego as an up-and coming artist is super inspiring as a self taught artist like me. The show is a feel good binge with a very well written script, outstanding true to life acting and morale, set design, outfits, and the realism of dealing with life. I am very pleased and emotional that this journey has finished in a perfect and precise manor that honors the quality this show has given us through it's entirety. I have been a great audience for her and appreciate what she and everyone whose worked on this has done for this show. Thank you and goodnight! #themarvelousmrsmaisel.
The Simpsons: The Way of the Dog (2020)
Endearing a Beloved Treasure!
I've been a long time fan of The Simpsons ever since it became available on Disney Plus back in 2019 (and even further before that), and I have seen basically every episode at least twice or more, excluding anything past season 31 so far. I do find that the newer seasons have had a slowdown in quality or imagination. However, this episode was an exception. It was thoughtful and endearing in every way. And really, to be honest, I am not easily a victim of being tearful in the things I watch, but this had me teared up a bit, feeling so great after watching this episode. This was a very emotional and beautiful moment in the series.
Knock at the Cabin (2023)
Weak, But Reasonable
It was kind of a disappointment to me for a movie made by Shyamalan. The story was way too predictable and unnecessary with the actions it took to move it forward. Characters were well cast and likable, but story could've been more inventive and less dependent on gore, because it seems everything needs gore these days, right? I personally don't care to read the book, but I feel like this type of rapture story has happened too often in movies and TV like this these days, making cookie-cutter tactics a bland and average tool for plots. However, I did appreciate how they wrote in the two guys who were together as they weren't terribly, (but not cleared from it) stereotyped, which made it a more believable and tolerable experience to watch.
White Noise (2022)
Intriguingly Chaotic Yet Balanced With Wit
Is that really Adam driver? He looks so old, and his mannerisms are so genuine for looking like a 40 year old dad from the 'burbs set in the 1990s. This awkward gem seems to portray a unique style of comedy and minimal horror you can't help but to just let happen as it occurs. The cinematography is too clever giving out the vibes of films, such as the camera visuals of Forrest Gump, the spirit of Independence Day, and the wit of Knives Out. I must admit that one scene (yes spoiler) with the dad's denial of the "toxic event" following behind that a beautiful meal presented in such an ungodly manner of a man creepily stuffing his face with his wife's Chili Fried Chicken, and staring into my unsheltered soul with his glutinous grimly grin, only enhanced my curious cravings of something I never knew I would dream of consuming. A+ movie.
Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
Amazing Stunts!
Touching storyline with an impactful and beautiful morale. Amazing stunts were pulled to make such an astonishing and awe-inspiring rare theater experience! Do not miss your last chance!
Moon Knight (2022)
A Very Fulfilling Journey Now Coming To It's End
The show is very good and the Egyptian theme is well done. It's a psychologically intriguing trip with alternate personalities. Each episode explains more and more, yet new questions form as the episodes become more filled.
Luca (2021)
A very pleasant Pixar original classic!
Finally, a Pixar movie I came to enjoy all the way through! I love the originality and characteristics of the story!
Knives Out (2019)
A Refreshing Mystery to Solve!
"Knives Out" (2019) is still very underrated! It's such an engaging original murder mystery film having a solid all-star cast with enjoyable acting, good cinematography, and a refreshing take on how to solve the story.
Mad Max: Fury Road (2015)
Great Use Of Their Big Budget
The cinematography and use of budget is truly unforgettable! It's not too often we get good movies centered around crazy vehicles they make iconic that are original these days.
Black Mirror: Black Museum (2017)
15 Million Stars for Black Museum!
This is one of the best, most well written episode I've seen so far from the series, among a few others like White Bear, Fifteen Million Merits, and Nosedive- to name a few! The entire story of Black Museum fed my craving for curiosity and knowledge of technology we can achieve. It's filled to the brim with Easter eggs that aren't actually hard to miss, if you know what you've seen. That's why Black Mirror fascinates my interests. The episodes' conclusion was phenomenal and I would've never guessed how it would end. You honestly just can't look away from the screen due to the story being so intriguing and magnetic- sucking you right into it till the end.
15 million stars!
