Rogue One (2016)
i've already forgot most of it
This did feel like Star Wars movie, it did. But was it amazing? No. The movie looked nice *most of the time*. But it was a nostalgia fest, there wasn't anything new or updated, or innovative.
All the characters were typical, and other than So Gerrera, who didn't appear all that much, were really forgettable.
I believe that this was another cash-grab, with nothing to offer. At around the half-way point I was starting to wonder when it will end, and I would forget things about the movie while watching it. Ultimately, I wasn't too disappointed as I wasn't expecting much after Force Awakens.
Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure (1989)
fun fun fun
This movie is the epitome of "enjoy the ride". it's light, funny and it still manages to be quite interesting.
The way they handled time travel is very interesting and i actually quite like it. As much as you'd might think this sounds stupid but the acting is actually quite good, I can't even imagine myself being able to 1. do those voices and 2. say some of those line with a straight face.
ALSO, the concept for this movie I find to be amazingly interesting, I can not imagine something like this being green lit today. + George Carlin just makes anything better.
Le petit prince (2015)
this might be entirely personal but i adore it
The book is my absolute favorite book in the world, i'd say it's definitely the book that influenced me as a person the most, and after seeing this movie i feel like even people who are bad with books, could have the same feeling as i did and still do.
It's truly magical it looks wonderful, the voice acting is out of this world and ,oh, the writing. You can truly feel that to whoever made this really it really was a passion project and that a lot of love has gone into this.
Also, I when i first heard about this movie, I was quite skeptical, because the book is really like 50 pages long. And writing something this wonderful around a book that short and still stay true to it pretty goddamn impressive.
Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law (2000)
lovely cult classic
This is a very funny show, the voices are great, I actually quite like the animation style and the humor is right up my alley. I'd call it masterpiece to be honest, the way it deals with both serious matters and just stupid, silly things, while making it all still fun and enjoyable. The show can organically move between topics like race, gender, sexuality, identity and a guy who likes to shrink things loving big butts.
I'd call this one of my favorite animated shows, sure it might not be the best or it might be forgotten, but it does hold a place in my heart as the show that showed me - a little, small, stupid child at the time, that it was completely OK to take cartoons seriously and really look at situations from all perspectives. That might not be what other people took away from it, but somehow it truly did affect me.
Also the humor is right up my alley.
Suicide Squad (2016)
Hyped? yes. As bad as everybody says? not really.
I definitely am not a DC apologist, but this movie truly isn't as bad as some of the reviews say.
(review includes spoilers)
001. the actors
I feel as though the actors did the best with what was given to them, both script and direction-wise. Margot Robbie and Will Smith really held their own and all the other actors weren't half bad either. Although, Slipknot really was there just to give the feeling of some stakes, which ended up quite lackluster seeing as how he only has like 3 lines of dialogue and no introduction like all the other characters had.
002. story
Well, here is where i have no idea what to say. It wasn't like the story was hard to follow, but something about it was just off - there were things that I felt were completely unnecessary and some bits where I needed some explanation from the DC fan I went to see it with. For one, the Joker was completely unnecessary throughout the movie, he could've just shown up at the end to set up the next Batman or whatever. I do however like the theory that's been floating around, about how the Joker is all part of Harley's imagination and how he's been dead for years.
SUICIDE SQUAD IS A SOLID 6/10
(this probably makes no sense because this is the first review for a movie I've ever done, but I'll get better.movie seen 29/08/2016)
