George of the Jungle (2015)
Worse than I expected
I don't like this so-called "season 2" of George of the Jungle. This can barely be considered a new season, and feels more like a cartoon reboot gone horribly wrong using existing character/prop models from the 2007 cartoon (except for George's body). From what I've seen, the crew tried to make the story and such accurate to the original 60s cartoon, and I applaud them for that. However, there are a lot of problems that I want to address in this show. I watched all episodes, and it was nothing but a boring train ride. Here's why:
Switching Magnolia and Ursula's names is one thing, but shouldn't now-Magnolia be left out from this "season" so it could be more accurate to the 60s cartoon? Nope, they decided to keep her. In the 2007 version, the redhead was a fashion-loving, scatterbrained jungle girl who spoke with a Southern accent and was pretty calm to be honest, but here she is a ferocious feral beast who tries to kill and anyone on her place. Her mouth is also disgustingly-drawn and barely even pretty. The city girl also was turned into a science-obssessed freak whose only thing she craves is science. Dr. Scott's name is now Dr. Chicago and isn't the city girl's father here, the Witch Doctor also got his role as the father of the redhead scraped off.
The animation is an improvement from the previous cartoon, but there are a lot of errors. I don't like the idea from the crew that they had to hire new voice actors and people that didn't have any involvement with the 2007 cartoon either, and they seem to like to insert a lot of questionable and bizarre scenes that someone would easily take out of context. Cuspid, Dr. Chicago's henchman, was only put in the show for filler purposes, and it's quite baffling how George of the Jungle "season 2" doesn't explain why he turned from a dentist to an evil dentist determined to destroy the jungle. Many of the episode plots are also very weird and have a lot of over-the-top crudeness or just plain surreal moments, even for a kids' show.
Tl;dr George of the Jungle "season 2" is terrible, and once you've watched all of it then you would regret ever doing that.
Mini Teuggongdae (2014)
Awful English dub
What happens if you mix Happy Tree Friends and Power Rangers together? Well, you get Miniforce! I've seen a lot of parents calling this show out on the web for its weird, terrible and nonsensical concept, even trying to get their kids not watching it along with other shows they hate that their children love. I'm not saying that parents should like Miniforce since everyone has different opinions, but if they don't like it then they don't need to watch it with their children if they don't want to. This also goes with other shows and not only Miniforce.
So, Miniforce is an animated series from South Korea animated by SAMG Animation, also known for their work on Ladybug in the west, with co-production by Choirock, another company also from South Korea. It is about four anthropomorphic animals named Volt (a blue squirrel), Sammy (a red owl), Lucy (a pink fox) and Max (a yellow beaver), and they are part of a secret organisation called "Miniforce" which protects small and weak animals from danger by larger and stronger animals. Somehow, they ended up in the house belonging to a good-natured but hideously psychopathic girl named Suzy (best girl anyway), who beats the hell out of the Miniforce with an orange-coloured toy hammer whenever they piss her off. From the looks of it, Miniforce was heavily influenced by tokusatsu shows, especially Power Rangers, and many elements from anime like most Korean and other Asian cartoons outside of Japan.
Personally, I like the Korean version better because the voices have more emotion and life to the characters the actors give them. But, what about the English dub? Well, apparently it turns out to be very, VERY horrendous. The voices are unprofessional, lifeless and painful to listen to, and the lip-syncing almost barely matches with the dialogue which makes this ten times worse. Also, Volt's voice is ear-jarring and annoying to listen to compared to the original Korean dub. The theme song's singer isn't that great either, as it sounds like he was being recorded inside the studio's bathroom trying to take a huge pile of cacca while scream-singing the translated lyrics on a Thursday night, and after that the editors had to edit out the sounds of the excrements coming out of his bootyhole.
However, despite all of this, the English version has slight improvement in the spiritual successor, Miniforce X. Same characters and same concept, but this time they face a new threat coming from outer space, and now the humans are the ones in danger. For whatever reason, everyone knows about the Miniforce (Now Miniforce X), even Suzy (who is around 14-16 now, she was between 11-12 or 13 in the original Miniforce). But still, the English version is crap and so was the quick decision to hire new voice actors.
I give the English dub of Miniforce a 3/10 as a result.
The Powerpuff Girls (2016)
Nope
I wanted this reboot to be as good as the original PPG. But when I watched the episodes "Painbow" and so on, things took it to the purest form.
The character designs, art style and animation is fine with me, but the majority of the episodes are just crazy as hell. Like in the episode Painbow for example, where the entire citizens of Townsville get hypnotized by a rainbow coming out of nowhere, causing them to be happy in a very uncomfortable way. Seems innocent enough? Well, in the next scene where Blossom and Bubbles get affected in a world that resembles Cloud Cuckoo Land from The Lego Movie, they begin TWERKING along with a panda bear on acid, and Buttercup was disgusted by it. To make this even more creepier is that the girls are CHILDREN. I mean, come on! What decent human being would find this acceptable? The jokes are also unfunny as well, and all references to real-life internet memes make me question. Even though the PPG fight crime, they are sometimes too lazy to do it. I like Buttercup in this series, but not the other characters.
Whatever you do, do not let your children watch this abomination. Sorry if the review looks kinda bad, but I tried my best. I give this show a 5/10.
