I am a production artist by trade, completely self taught with over 30 years of education on the job.
I started as a technical illustrator and airbrush artist in the early 80’s with a background in oil painting on the east coast.
I came to the west coast to follow my brother into the movie industry only to land a job illustrating central vacuum parts and fittings. After a few years, I branched out on my own to form Corkum Creative Services. I specialized in desktop production, illustration and print production. I learned to run a printing press as well as film stripping and assembly.
By the mid 1990’s I had an extensive client list and continued to learn by teaching others both one on one and at local colleges and universities. I gained education in digital offset and grand format printing with a little vinyl sign cutting for spice.
2003 I was given a job for the BC Innovation Council, as in-house graphic artist, event production and coordination.
2008 I moved over to a long time clients office as production artist and industrial designer.
Recently I have been back on my own exploring the film industry. I am currently working in Prop for various film and tv productions.

Tracker: Into the Wild (2024)
Entertaining TV.
I worked on the pilot. Justin is not only a good actor, but an awesome human. I like how they have kept the story line to his past. But just little bites. It's somewhat believable kind of like MacGyver. Wish we would have been able to do the series.
It's also nice to see local actors getting work. They have done a really good job in creating the illusion for city's in the USA while shooting in Vancouver and surrounding areas. Working in film it's always fun watching shows and play the "I know where that place is" game. I am looking forward to a season two. Who knows, maybe I'll get the call and be able to work on that Season.
Pine Gap (2018)
It's intriguing but...
I'm having a hard time with the cinematography. I'm only a assistant prop master but, the camera angles are messing with me.
Why would you frame up a shot with the back side of an actors head in the lower left or right of the frame?
Why would you have an actor in 1/9 of the frame and always the lower 9th or 7th part of the frame.
There are many shots that have the actors looking off into space with no response on the other side.
There seems to be some sort of "semi math". Maybe I'm used to the superhero shows.
I am open to comments.
My understanding is there is a basic formula.
I'm not a DP, but it's a strange setup.
Cosmic Sin (2021)
What....?
Did they just take lines from other scripts and put them together?
I worked as assistant propmaster on The100 for 4 years. If I were to use camera tape to fix or build a space suit, I would at least clean up the edges.
It's really bad. And hard to watch.
