One of the most boring movies ever made...
21 August 2006
Well, I'm sorry... But I was bored from the beginning to the end. I was actually thinking about leaving quite a few times.

The story was messy and dry. The action was anticlimactic and not at all surprising. Poor actor performances...

What happened Mr. Mann? I mean, the TV-show was fairly funny with their pastels and corny humor... The movie had nothing but a tight face and took itself too serious - it was almost embarrassing.

The only good thing about this movie is Colin Farrell... And that's just because he's hot (besides that freaky beard and hair!) Sad but true.

You're entering a world of pain - the good kind of pain!

This movie is hilarious!

The dude (aka el duderino aka the dudeness) is extraordinary. Jeff Bridges is absolutely perfect as the lazy, stoned and funny talking Dude.

And John Goodman, uh, if only I had a dollar for every memorable line he said. He's incredibly funny!

Steve Buscemi is, as always, excellent, I have so much respect for this man. In every movie he's been in, he's always been able to raise it to an extra level. He's brilliant.

Philip Seymour Hoffmann is just outstanding, one of the best actors out there. The roles he has chosen says it all.

Not to forget John Turturro as Jesus. Now that's magic! His moments in the movie are really HIS. He is so funny! In in contrast to The Dude it is hilarious!

AND the Germans!!! I love the Germans, and I love that Flea from Red Hot Chili Peppers is one of them.

I could go on and on, but these and the rest of the cast are all part of an absolutely unique movie.

It's timeless comedy.

So, rappers CAN be actors...?
28 November 2005
I was afraid of this movie. For a long time I feared that one day, Eminem WOULD make a movie - and that movie would suck!!!!

Along it came, and you know what? It didn't suck. Man, was I relieved.

I have never been able to put a finger on Mr. Mathers' rapping skills, I think his technique is amazing. His rhymes are sharp and intelligent and he always performs them with pure justification. But could he take this to the big screen? He succeeded. In his debut movie he managed to play it real and natural. He had good on screen chemistry with pretty much all the characters, but especially with Brittany Murphy (Uh, gotta love that sex scene... That was hot.)

The final battles in the movie, are the absolute climax. If you ever had any doubts about Eminmems talents - one way or the other - you definitely know his worth now!

  • Some might say that it must be easy to play yourself, and it's not a secret that this movie is somewhat autobiographic. But it sure takes guts to put yourself out there like that, well done.

So 8/10

Outstanding weird comedy
26 November 2005
The first time I saw this movie, I honestly didn't understand ANYTHING. I thought it was funny, but rather weird and I really didn't feel it. The second time around, all the twisted characters crawled under my skin. I love every single one of them. I have never seen a movie with so many well casted actors spitting out an obscene amount of hilarious and memorable lines. Jon Heder is amazing, his performance is outrageously awesome, everything he does, he does it right and with such perfection, that it's almost scary. He was born to play this part. The best thing is that he doesn't "steal" the show - everyone else in this move is absolutely brilliant. They all work perfectly together in this mad and totally original comedy. I have never seen anything like this... Napoleon Dynamite leaves you with a feeling of success. You can do anything no matter who or what you are.

Further more, if you haven't seen this move - get to it - the quotes are already EVERYWHERE.

And remember, VOTE FOR PEDRO!

Young classic
26 August 2005
This movie is spite its reasonable young age already a classic! Sex, drugs, violence VS. youth - mashed together in a twisted fight. Every time I see it, I'm scared, disgusted, fascinated and thrilled at the same time. KIDS shows you a uncensored bite of reality and sends you straight into its universe of brutal, naive and manipulative adolescence. In my opinion, it's Larry Clarks best movie yet... But then again, debut movies do have a special flavor. The young actors all did an amazing job on this one, especially outstanding is Leo Fitzpatrick as the scary and cynical Telly and Jason Pierce as his weird and somewhat eccentric "sidekick". Also one of Chloë Sevignys best performances, with both fear and beauty she portraits the sudden destiny and destruction of a young life. Incredible movie. It's not just a movie though, it's also an original and kicka** revolution.
