I Love Lucy: Tennessee Bound (1955)
Season 4, Episode 14

If it weren't for the twins
3 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This is definitely my least favorite episode. I'm not a fan of anything hillbilly to start with but this episode felt like a scene of hee haw. The show starts out ok with Lucy arguing with the hillbilly sherif. They get out in jail for her mouthing off which he deserved. He obviously is uneducated and was jealous of city people and was being a bully. Then cousin Ernie shows up to help and there are a few good jokes despite the annoying voice he uses. The episode then goes sour when these two morbidly obese twins show up and they do this country song and they are entirely off key. It's a pain to listen to. I read that Lucille Ball was impressed with them and gave them a job and I cannot understand why someone sophisticated would hire two overweight females who cannot sing? It's very bizarre. Fred and Ethel are strangely quiet throughout this episode and I feel if they had been more vocal maybe it wounding have been more enjoyable.

De-gaying the son
27 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was excruciating to watch. It's bad enough I have to watch this show for my elderly mom's sake but this episode was atrocious. The whole premise is Deacons son Kirby is showing signs of intellectual, artistic and creative qualities and in typical American fashion, the jocks are terrified. This episode glorifies football which requires no intelligence and they make so many anti-gay jokes trashing the theatre industry. Doug is lazy and obese but starts playing football which the only positive aspect of it is he is exercising. There is some funny fat jokes but they don't cancel out the jokes and hate towards art, music, theatre, and even one towards the ice capades. I'm assuming they left Arthur out of this episode seeing how Jerry Stiller was a theatre veteran. If the men in this show had more theatre training, perhaps they would be witty and droll instead of beer guzzling imbeciles.

The Nanny: Not Without My Nanny (1998)
Season 5, Episode 14
8/10
Stereotyping
18 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I loved how they stereotyped. It was very funny. Fran being Jewish in a Sultan's palace. The costumes and music were absolutely gorgeous and there was some great comedy. Fran takes Gracie to a middle eastern country and the Sultan becomes attached to her and wants her to stay. She has a hard time deciding what to do. She turned the Sultan down and he holds her hostage with armed guards lol.mr. Sheffield comes and rescues her. Then she finds out the sultan wanted her for his nanny. The ending was what we've Beene siting for! It's a funny portrayal of Arabian culture and reminds me of a classic looney tunes cartoon.

I'm with Debra
6 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Ray is manipulated into having a family portrait done for his awful parents for Christmas. As usual, Marie is acting like a bratty child and she's furious because Debra invites her parents along who are also family. Marie is the worst mother and ruins the entire experience. Ray is such a wimp. He should cut his parents off...they are incredibly toxic. Debra isn't so innocent with her feminist outbursts and abusive hitting but in this particular episode she was correct. Her parents are cultured and intelligent and Marie should be honored to be around them. This was a low point in the series and shows how low class most American families can really be.

All in the Family: Barney the Gold Digger (1979)

Big beefy Bertha...with Money
17 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was funny. Blanche Hefner has continued her loose woman status and ran off with some other man. Barney is pretending to be upset. Archie decided to set him up with Edith's morbidly obese friend (Peggy Rea who played cousin Bertha) who has lots of money. They don't take to each other at first but soon they become a couple. Edith is worried it's all because of her money because after all, her friend is incredibly unattractive. There are some fun fat jokes and Barney's facial expressions are priceless. It's not the best episode of the season but one of the better ones because the dopey kid Stephanie isn't in it. There's a touching scene at the end with Edith and Martha. Overall a good episode.

Fantastic

I just started this show for the first time. I absolutely love it. I'm crazy about New York comedies and this is so funny and Well written. I like the fast paced schtick it reminds me of a 1940s screwball comedy. The other reviewer who claimed it was boring obviously lives in the country or watches NASCAR races or something like that. This is a brilliant show and I'm only three episodes in. I'm only sorry I want exposed to this kind of humor when I was a kid. I always enjoyed Helen Hunt as an actress and I am lovin Paul reisers acting. The set isn't the greatest for a decade of color but I love this brilliant writing.

Barney Miller: Heat Wave (1975)
Season 2, Episode 5
10/10
Domestic abuse comedy
6 February 2023
Haha this was excellent. The typical hysterical females, whether a victim or not, acting irrational and making for good comedy. The woman who had a fight with her husband was obviously a part of a two way fight with her loud and brassy personality. She can't decide what to do about her husband and the men sense it. The heat does tend to make women act crazy. The cross dressing was funny especially Fish at the end. It was good comedy to see cross dressing for the foolishness it was instead of the accepted weirdness of today. I love these old Barney Miller episodes because they showcase a time when people had boundaries and knew where their place was. The only thing missing was Yemana who could have gotten some good jokes in about the alleged raping.

Who cast this episode?
3 October 2022
The black female singer has to be one of the worst things my ears have ever heard. This whole episode was terrible down to the eels in the bowl. It was corny, boring and full of awful music. I know that in midsomer murders almost every festival is interrupted by a murder but in this case the music itself was the killer. There is so much beautiful music out of England I cannot understand why they chose this woman to sing except for politics. After the first Barnaby left all of a sudden there is a forced and unrealistic diversity. I refuse to believe in a small English village like portrayed, there would be such a demand for a horrible singer like her.

The day I get corrected by a retard!!
27 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This is my favorite episode! So many great Gags and constant retarded jokes. The bye bye birdie scene is one of the best ever written. Also the Jake and the fat man joke...15+ years later I'm still laughing and quoting it. The retarded jokes are right up there with the wheelchair jokes surrounding Joe. Also the fact that peters New England accent makes the word retarded Sound even funnier, This is classic family guy and a great example of what made it stick to pop culture. Excellent writing! I'm sure someone somewhere will be crybabying over this episode but that just shows they have no sense of humor.

So funny
22 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This was a great episode. I identify so much with Dr. Ellingham. The stupid dog getting crushed was funny but reading the crybaby comments made it funnier. The whole old broad and the young man story line was funny as well especially the oedipus moment at the end. This was a highlight episode for the series.

Another attempt to destroy a legacy
19 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This episode is supposed to mirror the molestation case against Michael Jackson. It's even listed in the trivia section. They have the lead character a childlike man with lots of money and success and they make him out to be guilty. The problem is in real life Michael Jackson was acquitted and was a beautiful human being. The fact that the producers made this show that they have no respect for the truth. SVU was good from the beginning it once fame hit it went south real quick.

Free Show! Free Show!!
24 April 2022
I have been searching for years the name of this cartoon. I remember when it first came on we saw episode 8 , me and my older brother, and the little girl went around the room lifting her dress going "free show! We laughed for years about that and free show has become part of the family vernacular. This show isn't as good as I remember but it def has a 90s charm and twisted weirdness to it that I love.

A Family Circus Easter (1982 TV Movie)

Absolutely charming
29 November 2021
Despite the angry and negative review monsterhunter gave, I still find this special endearing. These were the days when children had warm, innocent and polite cartoons to watch compared to todays vulgar and perverted trash. Family circus still warms my heart. The dizzy Gillespie song is enough to make you smile. I have been singing it randomly for 37 years. This special and the Christmas one as well, will always have a place in my holiday viewing. I do not watch modern American television or cinema but I gladly surround myself with older shows that feed the spirit ...not hurt it.

Great Episode for taking a nap
23 February 2021
All I'm gonna say is the man who plays Mary's father is the most boring actor I've ever seen. This had potential to be a good plot but her parents are incredibly boring. I also notice mary and her parents never say I love you to each other which is really sad

Citizen Kane, Roman holiday , the Ten Commandments...good immortal classics but Christmas Vacation is my absolute favorite movie of all time. I can watch it any time of year and get a laugh. I quote it more than any other movie. Every detail is perfect and the writing is superb.

Fat girl funeral humor
23 October 2020
Great episode. I love when they bully Meg. In a world of over sensitive women it's good to see some reality, not all girls are beautiful. Family guy is just as funny as ever. A few episodes are slow and I don't like the religious ones but Meg episodes are the best!
