3 Body Problem (2024)
Could have been great
I started watching and enjoyed the first couple episodes even though the characters seemed quite dumb for being scientists. At episode 5 it all fell apart and I couldn't handle the stupidity anymore.
The characters are unlikeable and ignorant. It's like watching a Disney channel kids drama except the main characters are supposed to be top scientists. /facepalm
I'm not sure why some of the events happened. I felt like some of the decisions made by the characters were rushed and quite possibly some of the worst decisions. I won't give spoilers because it might be worth watching the first few episodes, but pushing through past episodes upside 4 just ruined the hat little it had going that made it interesting.
One of the top 5 star reviews summarized it well. I think 5 stars is too many and rate it 3.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022)
Not sure I even want to continue watching
I watched while trying to be open minded, knowing it wouldn't be LOTR. It's quite boring so far with unlikable characters and no sense of direction. It looks beautiful but the many storylines aren't engaging so far.
I'll try another episode and see if anything starts to come together for me. I want to have some likable characters and less disconnected narratives.
So far, it's a disconnected, boring, mess IMO.
Not sure why we need to provide 600 characters for a review, but I suppose I can continue. The elves seem to be dim witted, and the language forced to make them sound interesting. I caught a few repeated themes from the lotr movies in their lines, which was off putting.
Galadriel is the most interesting character so far, but only because of her desire to avenge.
Storks (2016)
Awful movie
I have been using IMDb to view ratings for years, but I had to create an account to review this movie.
Storks was truly awful. Even our 4 year old said he didn't want to watch it after about 15 minutes. Thank goodness because we were also not wanting to watch it anymore (Two adults and a 14 year old).
Our son will watch almost anything, including some of the low budget animated movies you find on Netflix.
The conversations the characters are having seem quite odd. They are talking fast with random comments that don't really seem to fit any narrative.
It was like watching a bunch of ADHD characters amped on up caffeine spouting out random thoughts to try and be funny. Sure, a few moments like that can be funny, but we just did not find much humor in this movie.
