The Flash (2023)
As in the tv shows, time travel has unpredictable consequences
For those who know the tv show, in one of the seasons Barry learns that whenever he time travels back in time to "fix something" things are never completely fixed as something unexpected and bad always happen that he cannot fix. While he quickly learns not to try and go back in time and fix everything in the tv show, this whole movie is about Barry not yet having reached that conclusion so he keeps going back in time and things just never ever completely ends up the way he hopes. So in the end if the movie he finally reaches that same conclusion he early reached in the tv show: Don't try to go back in time as the result is never what he hopes for and the future changes in unpredictable ways, when the past is changed. This is exactly the same conclusion in e.g. The Butterfly Effect and many other time travelling movies. The outcome is never fully what Barry hopes for.
Enola Holmes 2 (2022)
Enjoyed every second of it!
This is a fantastic movie. Well written and superb sound, acting, photography, effects
etc. The only issue I have, is that in the end , the (one of) bad guy burns off all the evidence for crimes that should otherwise go public. Then 5-10 minutes later, there's this politician guy who is in love with the private investigator, Enola, he turns up with the police and now they can suddenly arrest the bad guy, apparently due to political influence... But that's ridiculous, because nothing changed. There's no new/hard evidence - that's where I think the story lacks something. It finishes off with a history lesson about the beginning of female unions , in the match factory where the protagonist comes. To save money and increase profits, the match -factory has begun to use hazardous raw materials, that is killing the (female) workers. At the same time management says the reason people/ factory workers die, is disease. A must-see wonderful movie, for everyone, all ages except children (the detective part is a bit complicated for children, but all adults should be fine)!
Guardians of Time (2022)
visually for the adventure-genre: great, acting: average
There are some very harsh reviews here but if you like the adventure genre, it's not that bad a movie. So 4 children arrive in a fantasy world as guardians of time and meet creatures in this magical world. It's similar to Narnia, except it isnt that wellmade, unfortunately... The first half part is great and I wished it would continue, because this movie actually had the potential to be as entertaining and great as narnia. But the acting and story/script in the last part - maybe the last 20 minutes is pretty disappointing. Still, I like the genre and would overall rate it a little above average and would recommend this movie only if you like fantasy movies - otherwise you ll be disappointed.
The Hunt (2020)
a fantastic entertaining semi-violent movie
I usually hate horror movies, but this isn't really a horror movie, more an action movie with gun/rifle shooting, hand grenade, car bomb and land mines. The protagonist, Crystal (Betty Gilpin) is simply just amazing badass in this movie and I just love, who she goes on a killing (revenge) spree, after she and many others are drugged (various us states), abducted and wake up, hunted by rich people in Croatia/Serbia - killing innocent people just for fun... Except in their mind, the elite thinks these people deserve to die. A hillarious plot, totally unrealistic - but refreshingly fun and I just love how stone cold and badass Betty Gilpin is here. I rate this movie 10 stars, have watched this movie several times, I just love it, when the underdog clears the table, kills all the abductors and a with an (almost, except for all who died) happy ending. She gets her revenge - and although there is violence in the movie, it's not really a scary movie, I think it's just a hillarious, entertaining movie, from start to end as the story of why the rich elite embarks on the "human hunt" and as (almost) everyone is slowly killed, unfolds...
Cutterhead (2018)
Extremely BOOORING movie, unfinished story
Well, the initial part is ok, although we never really get to know the background of the main character who apparently is set on a mission to interview metro tunnel drilling workers. We don't know who her employer is but we know she has kids. From the moment they get stuck after an accident, everything becomes deadboring. She is a bad actor. At some point she tries to escape from the 2 skilled drill workers and steal the lead drillers oxygen. How realistic is that, that someone who knows absolutely nothing about the job, thinks she is smarter than the 2 experienced workers she is trapped with? It's just lame! And in the end we see they get rescued and am about to get out of the pressure chamber, but then the movie ends... Just like that. It's ridiculous! At least there should be a story about what happens when they recover, and are united with families. It's like: "we ran out of money, now we just have to end the movie abruptly, just like that, with an unfinished story". I think it was lame and ridiculous. And boooooooring. Cannot understand all those who enjoyed this.
A Cure for Wellness (2016)
A master piece and a psychological enjoyable thriller
If you liked "shutter Island" like I did, this movie it very similar but with a happier ending. You start being very confused but little by little you put the pieces together as the protagonist sets himself into one challenging situation after the other, while he tries to understand why he cannot fulfill the mission of extracting a valuable and important board member, back to New York for a few days. I highly recommend this movie, it was a masterpiece like I believe shutter Island and the green mile are - one of few movies I won't forget for a long time!
The Visit (2015)
Why did anyone rate this so high? I want my money back...
This is supposed to be "a terrifying story" of 2 children sent to what everyone thinks is their grandparents. During their trip they record "a documentary" meaning the footage and camera viewing angles are like if a 10-year old should shoot a movie. And it's like that throughout pretty much the entire movie!!! But this isn't a professional movie. With this plot the crew saved expensive camera equipment and skilled camera professionals. Later it turns out that after nearly a week, what they thought were grandparents were psychiatric patients and they killed the real grandparents... How realistic is that? It's just an incredible bad movie, oh my, why the hell did anyone give this movie so high ratings?
Cloak & Dagger (2018)
I can't believe other people rated this fairly good
In my opinion, it's simply a disaster that marvel put their name on this crappy series. Although there is some super human powers going on, it's extremely far from e.g. Agents of shield - it's just dead boring, marvel should never have laid their name in this crappy production. I am however a huge fan of most marvel movies and agents of shield, agent carter etc.
