Mean Girls (2024)
Maybe I'm just biased but...
I was 13 when the original movie came out and my friends and I watched it on repeat and quoted it to death. My best friend and I spoke, almost exclusively, in Mean Girls, anchorman and Hot Rod quotes through high school. I actually still quote it to this day ("Your mom's chest hair."), so needless to say, I hold the original very near and dear to my heart. I had heard all the bad reviews but I always want to form my own opinions on films, so I gave this a try since it was added to Paramount for free...
I turned it off after 20 minutes of absolute cringe and second hand embarrassment. It was that bad. Who asked for this? Maybe some people don't think I can have a fully formed opinion after only watching for 20 minutes but I'll watch just about anything and couldn't make myself suffer through this one. Everyone else in the reviews has already said why it's so bad, so I won't go into those details but it was so unwatchable that I felt like I had to leave a review. I think a 5.8 is incredibly generous.
That '90s Show (2023)
Who is their target audience?!!
I agree with all of the other reviewers--original cast is awesome but the new kids' scenes are cringe worthy. And I hate to say it, but the young actors just aren't very good. But what I really don't understand is who they wrote this this show for. They make a lot of jokes and references (like a Brian Austin Green 90210 cameo) that only older audiences would understand but then the rest of the show feels like it belongs on the Disney channel or something... But with some PG-13 scenes thrown in that feel very out of place.
Man, I wanted to like this so much but the only scenes worth watching are the ones with the original cast.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021)
Please don't tell me Disney has ruined another franchise
Is it political? Yes. Did that annoy me? Yes. But I can typically look past that and still enjoy the show or film, so that actually has very little to do with my low score here. I thought it started out strong but after finishing the last episode, I have no idea why winter soldier is even in the title, because he had very little
to do with anything. Anything they set up for Bucky in the first few episodes were barely skimmed over by the end. What was the point?! This was all about setting up future Captain America movies, and not done well at all. The ending was so extremely cheesey that I didn't even want to finish the last 5 minutes of it. All I know is that this is not the same marvel that's been pumping out awesome movies for the last 10+ years. At least WandaVision had heart and soul and a great villain... this had none of that. I was excited for this but I'm left sorely disappointed.
