Blackshore (2024)
Decent murder drama mini series.
I've watched 5 out of 6 parts here and I'm really enjoying it. Nothing revolutionary it must be said but very solid throughout and I think Lisa Dwan is really on point as tough, ambitious, no nonsense DI Fia Lucey. The entire series is built around her character and she carries it off with aplomb. Looking forward to part 6. Perhaps the plot is a bit needlessly complex and it's hard to imagine a typical sleepy Irish town with so much happening beneath the surface. Still it has plenty of interesting characters on view and the finger of suspicion is shifting in many directions throughout. Bottom line, very decent series.
Non mi lasciare (2022)
Exquisite
Best Tv minii series I've seen in a long time. Didn't want it to end. Whilst dealing with a very dark theme, it still manages to be full of hope and grounded in good triumphing over evil. The lead actors are all superb and the story is fascinating with no shortage of surprises. The main characters are very well developed. Rarely have I watched a mini series where each episode gets better culminating in the last 2 that are simply out of this world. And as if all of this was not enough the setting in Venice was simply genius. No need for a sequel or a prequel or anything like that- this was the work of a modern day Michelangelo.
Operation Mincemeat (2021)
What a let down
Dreadful attempt at trying to tell a real life story. How could they get it so wrong with a decent cast. Hardly any redeeming factors at all. Complete absence of tension; it almost felt like the love story was exaggerated to compensate for there being damn near nothing else going on. Most of the leading actors seemed to be replicating parts they were better known for in other films - Harry Potter, Downton Abbey etc. So disappointing.
The Responder (2022)
Damn good so far.
Excellent show and extremely well acted by all especially Freeman. It's as raw a police drama as I've seen and all the better for it. My only tiny complaint is the extremely heavy scouser accent. I find I am losing about every third or fourth word - I'm resisting turning on the subtitles but it's tempting. More a reflection of me than the show.
Rules of the Game (2022)
Horrible People
I'm actually enjoying the show and look forward to the ending tomorrow night. My biggest gripe is the characters are just such nasty people it's really hard to care about any of them. Virtually no redeeming characters at all. Good acting, decent story.
Line of Duty: Episode #6.5 (2021)
Fastest hour of the week.
Season 6 is delivering in spades. Each episode just ratchets up the tension and offers no end of plausible suspects/theories. The links with prior series's are genius. Life will be so dull in two weeks time. Please let there be a season 7.
Line of Duty: Episode #6.4 (2021)
OMG - what a belter.
Back to its very best - if anything the show is getting better. That big ending was quite superb. Well done to all involved.
Line of Duty: Episode #6.3 (2021)
Building nicely.
Without reaching the dizzy heights of episode 2(understandably), a really good episode. Everyone is looking over their shoulder for different reasons whilst the search for H is very much back on. Can't wait for the full AC 12 interview treatment of either Buckles or Pilkington. That's the real gravy. So far so good.
Line of Duty: Episode #6.2 (2021)
WOW
Even by Line of Duty's high standards, episode 2 was simply off the scale. As good an episode as there has been over all previous series's. Counting the hours till next week.
Line of Duty: Episode #6.1 (2021)
Slow burner
Slower beginning than previous series's for sure but I'm happy to indulge Jed and co in the belief that we will be rewarded later. The 3 leads are all restless for various but understandable reasons - interesting to see how this plays out. Be patient and believe. They've never left us down yet.
Bloodlands: Goliath (2021)
Good start - dreadful finish.(Entire series)
Reached a dizzy height after episodes 2 but it was all downhill all the way after that. Promised a lot but ultimately failed miserably to deliver.
