Palm Trees and Power Lines (2022)
This movie takes a huge RISK
I did not know this movie would be this powerful. The writing was incredibly insightful because it framed the story and painted the emotions into every scene especially the ones between Tom and Leah.
I remember being a young girl and how the innocence of being such a young girl, it is so easy to be in that vulnerable place...so close to having your life changed forever if you make the wrong move and trust the wrong person.
The character Tom had a trusting charisma. The way he moved her around and physically placed her on a pedestal like when he would crouch down on the floor so he could look up at her as if she had all the power, but it was him who had all the power. After all he picked her, then lured her, then groomed her. An older woman would have argued, told Tom he was insane, but she went along with it.
I will never ever for as long as I live know how a man can use a young woman when he knows he is taking advantage of her. Never. (Referring to her first guy in the hotel room.)
This was a risky film by the content. We don't always depict true life in it's ugly form unless it's a documentary.
This movie was hella mesmerizing. The actors and writing brilliant.
Hard content to watch...
Sharper (2023)
Multiple sub plots that connect
This movie was a complete surprise. I'm glad I watched it because it was engaging and lead me into all these wonderful nooks and crannies inside the characters themselves.
Great acting especially Julianne Moore whose character, if you looked closely, you can see her change into another person. Seamless!
I enjoyed all the back stories and how they intertwined. Makes me think about how truly vulnerable us humans are and how we can be taken advantage of.
In a weird way the grooming of one of the characters reminded me of Point of No Return with Bridgette Fonda.
I enjoy movies about interesting characters and this movie fit the bill. Thumbs up!
Runway 34 (2022)
Best movie ever! Must see IT ALL!
You may only want to see the part of the movie which has the events in the airplane and cockpit itself. After all, the movie is interestingly enough, "2 parts." SO, if you were so inclined, or were too tired to watch the entire thing, you could stop right after the initial event and pick up later with the investigation. I'd urge you to watch what you think might be tediously boring, but it is not. I was rivetted!
Subtitles, no worries. Some of it is in English. The music is in English and well thought out placement.
The movie was VERY well done! The camera angles, the quality, the actors SUPERB! No really, notice the camera positions in the beginning. Where they start and how it leads you.
There are many surprises with the characters AND the character of the characters. Namely the "prosecuter" the pilot (SUPER THUMBS UP) and the co-pilot.
A lot happens and nothing is taken for granted with the outcome. There are also lessons to be learned.
This has become one of my all time favorite movies EVERRRR! You'll see why, just stick with it. Btw, the movie has great pacing.
Enjoy it!

Sign of the times...
I was pretty much riveted to this movie. The story was told from a Mother's perspective. I was afraid after watching Naomi's character running rough shod through the woods, that would be the entire movie and why people seemed to hate it. That and her character was illogical and annoying in her persistance expecting people to know things they couldn't possibly know.
While I was watching it I was thinking about the bad reviews and I thought maybe the reason was because it was her running too long through the woods or the ending was really bad because her son was killed, but as I continued to watch it, it came full circle.
The movie wasn't perfect, but I thought it was a decent thriller and thought provoking considering the times we live in.
Those Who Wish Me Dead (2021)
Oh Hell no...Just say NO, unless you're a seamstress
The most exciting thing about this movie...nope there was nothing. The storyline was convoluted, did not flow and the pacing was bad. This is the kind of movie you can sew a dress and half watch it because it will not matter if you miss anything.
Red Dot (2021)
Hella Movie
Racism...bad choices and super freaky surprises. Made my skin crawl at times. Loved it!
10x10 (2018)
Kept Me Guessing
...and there were twists and turns. No spoilers here, you just have to watch as the relationship between Cathy and her capture evolves. I will say, forgive the orchestrations on some of the scenes. If the main character dies in the beginning, you then have a 15 minute movie with a unsatisfiable ending. Not here.
I really liked it. I so love the actor Kathy Reilly. She is also in Yellowstone and she has the ability to be sweet and deadly...She is mesmerizing!
The ending made sense. Someone's gotta pay.
I Am Not Okay with This (2020)
SURPRISE!
Totally surprised by this series because it is not in my age group AT ALL! I liked the trailer, and watched the first episode and I was addicted. I can't wait for the next season...pleeeease, tell me there will be another season. Totally a surprise and I really enjoyed the characters and their awkward plight to feel accepted.
