Early Edition: The Fourth Carpathian (1998)
Not enough Gary........
There are certain episodes of Early Edition that I absolutely love. This, unfortunately, is not one of them. William DeVane is a delight as Gary's over-eager father. But the story leaves Gary out of the picture for way too much of the time. He is the heart of the show and when he is absent it just doesn't nearly have the magic.
Doppelganger (1993)
Wacko Crazy Bad... But Man, They Tried
I wanted to like this movie more. Drew Barrymore and George Maharris! I must say that Drew has improved immensely as an actress from this point in her career. You can see her hallmark characteristics, but there just isn't her typical magic. Her co-star gives an earnest Andrew McCarthy performance. But the script and story are quite lacking. The ending is almost bizarre it's so wacko. Don't blink or you'll miss the amazing George Maharris from "Route 66" fame.
Rake (2010)
Seasons 1-4 Are Superb. Avoid Season 5.
I simply loved seasons one through four. The acting, the writing, and the directing were all top-notch. I've never laughed out loud so much at a tv show. Richard Roxburgh is an underrated, brilliant actor. I saw all the negative reviews for season five and couldn't possibly think it could be that bad. After watching all 8 episodes of season 5 I feel it just lost all its charm. Do yourself a favor... treat season 4 as the finale. Really.
Supernatural: Carry On (2020)
Amazing. Leave it to SPN to create the best ending.
I am a HUGE Supernatural fan. Was this the ending I was expecting? Absolutely not. Am I thrilled to have it? Absolutely yes. My first time viewing it I think I was in shock. My second time through, I was an emotional wreck for all of the warm feelings coming over me. I say, don't listen to the naysayers. A true fan, who understands the show should love this resolution. Watch it a second time, if it doesn't resonate the first time.
Timeless: The War to End All Wars (2018)
Finally living up to potential.
Finally. I so wanted to like "Timeless" in Season 1. I just didn't. Showrunner, Eric Kripke, walks on water given the first 5 seasons he contributed to my all-time favorite show "Supernatural." So I gave "Timeless" one more shot with the Season 2 premier. Wow! Wyatt and Rufus racing back to World War 1 battlefront to find (and save) Lucy really changed the game for me. Lucy secretly trying to destroy Rittenhouse by plotting to destroy their time machine. Lucy facing the sad, terrible truth about who and what her Mom is. And that "almost" kiss.... I'm on board!
