Super 30 (2019)
INSPIRING AND MOTIVATING !
Super 30 is a true story based on the life of Anand Kumar ( a child prodigy born and brought up in a lower middle class family in Patna, Bihar), who despite all odds opens a free IIT-JEE coaching centre for 30 underprivileged children of the society. The film is great in terms of cinemetography and visual effects( Interestingly, the film uses a lot of visual effects). This movie in my opinion is A MUST WATCH FOR EVERY INDIAN since we seldom get to see movies on Indians who have sacrificed their everything for their selfless goals. All the actors in the film have acted brilliantly and kudos to Vikas Behl who has managed to delight the audiences with his great direction. The movie is a must watch for anyone who thinks of himself/herself as an underdog in life. Finally, In the words of Anand Kumar , "SUCCESS = TREMENDOUS THIRST + UNSTOPPABLE WORK ETHIC + GREAT PATIENCE"
Article 15 (2019)
A MUST WATCH
Article 15, as the name suggests is based on age old caste based discrimination that exists in our society. Ayushman Khuranna is an IPS officer who gets his first posting in the village of Lalgaon,UP. Only a couple of days before the date of joining, a gangrape followed by murder takes place where the two vicitms turn out to be of the lower caste. The film majorly highlights the plight of the lower caste people who live in villages like Lalgaon, where they face a prejudice by not only the upper caste but by the state institutions also.
Anubhav Sinha has created a masterpiece, the film gives a feeling of a documentary and it feels nothing like a conventional Bollywood film based out of a small village of UP. Strangely, the film has no song nor does it have any dance sequence( which is a good thing). The film has used good humour which is evident from the fact that the viewers can be seen giggling at caste based jokes which goes on to show that the director has pulled the humour part beautifully without hurting the sentiments of the general public. In my opinion, Ayushman deserves a national award for this film since he has played his part beautifully. Thus, the viewers can expect themselves to be glued to their seats for the most part and can also expect a nail biting end.
Avengers: Endgame (2019)
Best movie of 2019!
Avengers Endgame is a masterpiece! The Russo brothers have nailed this epic conclusion to the Infinity Saga. This movie exceeded all of my expectations and so much more... I'm really happy with the how to Russo brothers handled the aftermath of the decimation and how the remaining avengers move on from this devastating event.
Overall, the movie had amazing visual effects, epic soundtracks, amazing cast and this movie is a must-watch for all marvel fans..
Loved every second of the movie and give it a 10/10
Thank you Marvel, the Russo brothers, the cast and the crew of endgame for making this movie my favourite comic book movie ever!
Bohemian Rhapsody (2018)
GREAT ACTING BUT DISAPPOINTING ENDING
Went to see Bohemian Rhapsody last night and the best thing I can say about it is WOW, amazing!! The worst thing I can say about it is also WOW, it's amazing!!
Now don't get me wrong this won't be to everyone's tastes and if you don't like Queen then you're not gonna enjoy it really because it is all about them and nothing else (obviously).
But if, like me, you love Queen, you love Freddie Mercury and their music then you'll love it! It's not a documentary, there's been plenty of them done. It doesn't go in depth into the life of Freddie or the other band members and nor should it, those things have been done already. What this is is a celebration of the life and work of one of the greatest bands and greatest performer of all time. Rami Malek is sensational as Freddie, pulling off his mannerisms and movements so well (makes me glad that Sacha barren a Cohen turned it down, he wouldn't have been good enough imo) that you can tell this is a role he loved playing. It starts off with you wondering if he could play such an epic OTT character, but by the end he just is Freddie.
The music is, well, amazing, as the songs of Queen are. The songs they chose were all well placed in the film and added to that sense of nostalgia and fun that embodied the band and that the film makers were obviously going for.
It does showcase around Freddie for the most part and to me that's only right, he was the flamboyance of the band and what made them so incredibly appealing. Starting from his early days in England and finishing with their world class performance at live aid.
This film for me had me engrossed, enraptured and above all entertained. I found myself singing quietly along to the songs, nodding my head to the music and caught up in the emotions of it all. It does give a rose tinted view of Queen and Freddie for the most part, but I don't mind that at all, as said previously, I don't want to see another fly on the wall documentary, I wanted to see a happier version of a figure and band that I love and this works so well. Also there's a really funny part with Mike Myers and what his character says about bohemian rhapsody, but you should watch it to see what I mean 😉.
The only disappointing thing about the movie was it"s ending. i believe they could have delved into the his final days a little bit. they could have also shown his pale body which was a result of him not taking his proper medication which was evident in his video song of " these are the days of our lives ".
All in all a bloody good watch and one that I will be definitely going to see again!!
Ocean's Eight (2018)
PROPER AND APPROPRIATA BUT VERY PREDICTABLE
Ocean's 8 , overall was a well made movie. So, we get introduced to Debbie Ocean aka Sandra Bullock ( sister of Danny Ocean aka. George Clooney ) who completes her sentence and moves out only to plot a heist. The main idea is very much similar to the first Ocean's movie and this makes it very much predictable. So the first half is a replica of the first Ocean's film where you have the main plotter pitching her idea to her partner in crime ( the best friend ) which is followed by making a proper team and a plan to execute the job. What transpires is supported by great locations and visual effects. A big disappointment in the fact that James Corden is seen after 3/4th film is already complete.
