Beau Is Afraid (2023)
Don't watch this masterpiece!
I dont think any movie had profoundly touched me like this one it also left me saying what the f did i just watch.
The movie is entirely from the perspective of very troubled extremely anxious Beau, in the beginning of the movie soon we realise that what we see is not the reality rather than a delusion, exaggeration or hallucination.
We join Beau on a journey to meet his mother, his traumatic past, relationship with his mother and father and how all of this has caused him difficulty forming intimacy and is made him celibate.
The only thing i would have changed is the genre i dont like horror and i would have made it shorter, i really wish someone would edit it and make a shorter version/ or remake the movie.
Challengers (2024)
Everything in this world is about tennis except for tennis, tennis is about sex.
The movie is about obsession and power.
When the three characters meet in the hotel room the power dynamics are established, the boys are obsessed with Tashi and she uses sex to control them.
While the boys are obsessed witch her, she is obsessed with tennis and all she wants is to watch a good game, her injury stops her dream so now she is only able to indulge her obsession through one of them.
Art is easier to control and totally in love with her.
This is just masking of Tashis own obsession with tennis, when she tells the boys that she will be with the one who wins just because she wants to watch good tennis.
The movie ends with a twist, the boys revive their strong relationship and it does not matter who wins.
As she said, tennis match is a relationship.
Biya el-Khawatim (1965)
Enchanting musical with bold message
The story takes place in an imaginary Lebanese village during its love festival where lovers meet.
The film discussed the role of propaganda produced by power and the combat between lies and love.
The story did not happen and the village does not exist is the opening sentence, yet the universality of the concepts of love, propaganda, power and disruptive forces in society shifts the set. As a result The village becomes every village and this is its story.
Characters evolution and the poetic dialog are two things that I enjoyed the cinematic style composition of yousif Chahin are present vividly.
The custom design is superb for a production from the 60's.
Something to be proud of.
