Country House Hunters: New Zealand (2023– )

Devoid of credibility

This show is out to trick people.

The people on the show pretend to be looking at houses in view of buying a holiday home but instead are ohhing and arhhhing at their own house while pretending they've never seen it before. Completely dishonest!

The show is in effect a big and dishonest real estate advert.

TVNZ blames their dishonest program making on "filming time restraints" and "a shortage of stock", as if that is a reasonable excuse to attempt to fool people and insult our intelligence.

Perhaps the people involved are in the wrong business and should not be making such a show if they can only do it dishonesty and can't even think of a way to keep their integrity.

Valley of the Dead (2020)

One of the really good zombie movies

I didn't have high hopes when I put this on to watch, but I was very pleasantly surprised. I think the name may have reminded me of some of the more lame and cheap looking zombie movies out there. But this one was top notch.

This movie deserves a much better score than the one it currently has and I don't understand why some reviewers have scored it so harshly.

If you like zombie movies as I do then you'd surely enjoy Valley of the Dead.

A really enjoyable movie, with great acting and superb production, likeable characters, a good story, some suspense, humour, horror, and all round a lot of fun.

I totally recommend this movie.

Celebrity Prank Wars (2023– )

Putting animals under stress is not funny

I don't get it.... Are we not beyond using animals in a way that causes distress to them for our mere entertainment!

I don't get how this is supposed to be funny.

I'm shocked that someone actually thought this a good idea. The animal use just puts a bad taste in my mouth. I'm assuming the show has been created to entertain the lowest denominator

Very disappointed at Kevin Hart and his lack of ethics. I've heard before that he refers to himself as a 'dog person'. One would think that if he likes one species he'd have the intelligence to know that other species are no less important. He needs to grow up.

And as for Nick Cannon.... I don't think anyone would have any high expectations there.

Smile (V) (2022)

Jump-scares galore

This is a very stressful movie to watch. There were so many jump-scares that by the end of the movie I was tense and exhausted. I also kept checking behind me when I got home to an empty house.

That's not a bad thing though if you're after a really creepy horror.

The characters were great and very realistic - I'm sure almost everyone knows a couple like Rose's sister and husband - and the acting top notch. It was actually a relief to watch a movie where the characters reactions to situations were also realistic and what one would expect.

Seven out of 10 from me for a good, creepy movie, with a surprising number of jump-scares that actually work.

Slaughterhouse Rulez (2018)

It's a fun ride

It's not a great movie, but it is a good movie. There's nothing really scary, but it is a fun ride that had me laughing out loud a few times.

I really enjoyed it!

Movie also has a really, really good soundtrack.

This had me laughing out loud. Hilarious. I love the 'Trivia', episode names, etc. Too funny.

And so many of the comments too... Great humour. Just brilliant.

The show is so ridiculous and still so funny! The skits are a combination of so crazy I can't look away, so cringey I really want to, and so funny it hurts.

Haunt (I) (2019)

McKamey Manor anyone?

If you're crazy enough to do McKamey Manor you do not want to see this movie prior! Same concept, but actually has death and sickos.

This movie was better than I expected, and at times had me on the edge of my seat.

Crawl (I) (2019)

I learned a lot about Alligators from this movie

So much I didn't know about alligators, but now that I've watched Crawl I know plenty... They're very klutzy - you can be right at its nose and it will snap, snap, snapity snap away, and most times miss. Their bite is not so bad - you can get chomped and tossed about, and have a wound so minor that you can still get around just fine. An alligator will just let go of you if you thrash around enough. They're not very fast swimmers - slower than a human even. This was a fun movie and clearly not to be taken seriously. Even with the main character making insane decisions, and the odd timings of the heart to hearts, I still really enjoyed it. I was very worried about the dog throughout the move. Sugar is sweet!

Pooch Perfect (2020– )

Humans - abusing and/or making animals uncomfortable for pure entertainment since... forever. Disgusting! I can't believe there were enough people that thought this show was a grand idea. We need to start doing better.
