Road House (2024)
Abysmal
29 March 2024
You'll see from my profile that I rarely review. Unless it's a truly terrible film. This is truly terrible.

I mean terrible.

Why do studios think hiring a non actor like Conner is a good thing? I've never understood.

He's awful.

The film is awful.

The acting is awful.

Also, not enough neon.

It's very far removed from the original, so don't come thinking that it's the same, which was also not the best. BUT, this is the worst. Terrible acting, story, script blah blah blah.

Apparently I needed another 118 characters to explain how awful this film was. So, here goes. It's got Connor macgregor in it. Done?

Jury Duty (2023– )
Incredibly uncomfortably funny
14 April 2023
I felt compelled to review this as I have not watched something so funny, so uncomfortable and incredibly clever, I want people to watch and discover this show!

I stopped episode 1 twice from laughing as I was commuting, and was howling and then episode 2 and 3, parts were watched behind a pillow from the awkwardness.

It's witty, intelligent, yet stupid. Ronald and is a real life Truman. He's so wonderfully sweet and awkward, you just love him while he's wrapped up in in this unknown (to him) bonkers jury duty process.

Each of the supporting characters are kooky in their own way, whether they play a main role, supporting character or one of the insanely good jury members.

James Marsden, as ever, is just so wonderful, as a absurd egotistical version of himself.

I'm halfway through episode 3 and am obsessed. Love it.

Terrible end to a great reboot
13 October 2022
Super disappointed in this final film of the latest trilogy, as Halloween was a great great film, and Kills, while OTT, I thought was marginally better.

This though? What a travesty. A total mess. I'm confused as to what it was trying to achieve and actually, what the hell was it all about? Laurie vs Michael surely? Err, no. Incorrect answer.

The previous 10 star review is clearly drunk. I'd say if you are fan, go see, but be prepared to be disappointed. While it tried to be clever and take it in a new direction, it was messy, convoluted with largely lots of pointless scenes strung together.

At one point, I thought perhaps there was a film between Kills and Ends that I had missed.

People were laughing. At the wrong bits. Kills were boring and a few off screen, and it could have ended twenty mins earlier.

A real shame, considering how good the first two of this new trilogy was.

Shame. Shame. Shame.

Dreadful

There is nothing rewarding about this absolute crock.

The kid is vile.

In the original you loved and rooted for Kevin, in this version, you actually wish the worst on him. Grotesque and unpleasant. I'm unsure what the point of his characterisation was - I assume we are meant to hate him? But why make him the anti hero. Horrible little brat.

Nobody is likeable.

Thanks film is a mess.

Disney - hang your head in shame.

Laughably bad

I honestly couldn't really tell you what this was about. I don't think Dolly could. I don't think the writers could to be honest.

It's such a tragic awful mess and hugely predictable at times, while overwhelmingly confusing at others and they suddenly burst into random awful forgettable songs.

My favourite part is towards the end when they give solo performers fairly sizeable songs and scenes - WHEN THEY HAVE NEVER BEEN IN THE FILM UNTIL THIS POINT. Lolsies

Shame shame shame

Inconceivable (2017)
Terrible, messy, poorly acted mess
25 August 2020
I don't know why I even watched this, I fancied a thriller - but this missed the most vital part of a thriller - the thrills.

I wasn't even sure what was going on for at least 40 minutes, put off by the bad wigs, terrible dialogue and hammy acting. I think Nicolas Cage and Gina Gershon must have stumbled upon this script and had nothing else on - and needed some cash. They didn't even dial it in, they literally turned up like it was first day of acting school - they were awful. This film was awful.

Faye - what were you doing?!

The supporting cast were clearly mates of the terrible terrible director Danny (who some may remember from being exceptionally aggressive and rude from many US reality shows.

The set up is dire, the plausibility is ridiculous, the acting is so poor which makes this a total laughable attempt at a film.

I can't even give this constructive criticism, as I have nothing good to say but don't watch it. It's useless in every single way.
