The Haunting of Hill House (2018)
A must watch series in Horror + Suspense genre
Honestly I haven't seen much horror series but I have seen many horror movies. By this experience I can say that this is surely a must watch horror and suspense series which I have watched.
The story is not too simple or not too complicated but the way it is shown on screen, it grips you and for this the credit goes to brilliant direction. As it is based on the book of same name, it feels as if you are reading a book itself. The performance by the whole cast is great.
All the episodes are detailed and to the point. There aren't much horror or jump scare scenes in this series but that doesn't make it not watchable coz this series runs on it's brilliant storytelling. Especially the 6 episode which felt one shot episode, is it really? But anyway it felt great. Only thing which I didn't like os episodes 7 and 8 which felt too slow and I think there was not too much of story in it.
Overall, Haunting of hill house will not scare you that much but it is a masterpiece of storytelling in it's way.
Made in Heaven (2019)
A great drama series Made in India 👍🏼
I have watched all the works of Zoya Akhtar which made me watch 'Made in Heaven' and I was more than surprised, like every time.
I liked the way the story unfolds and how the back story is connected to the current situation. And also that we get surprised by a new stop the marriage twist in every episode. Being simple the story catches you to watch another episode.
The characters are well played by everyone a hats off to the performence and of course the direction.
I personally liked the first season more, as it had a lot to offer story and performance wise. The second season being more grand, filled with celebrities and more colourful it feels lengthy and sometimes stretched.
Still if you are looking for one of the best Hindi drama series, then you need to surely watch this one.
The Office (2005)
What's there to show in an office? There is too much!!!
The first question which came to my mind before starting this series is, 'What is there to show in an office?' and after watching it I can say that there is too much, too hilarious, too romantic, too friendly, too devilish and too what not!
The story follows The Office and focuses on the daily life of its employees which are normal and weird in their own way.
Each character has been carved perfectly and it has been kept in mind to give them a funny super power. The one person who mostly steals the show from the beginning is Michael Scott, the boss. I have loved his performance and I can say that no one can play his character better than him. Then there is Jim and Dwight whose pranks just get better than before and the romantic story of Jim and Pam feels romantic.
The best thing about this show is the way it is filmed, like a documentary. Yes it is a comedy show but not like a typical comedy of Friends or How I met your mother. It is an office documentary comedy. It feels different in the beginning but wait for a few episodes until you get used to it, you will feel amazing and you won't regret it at all. Just after 2 seasons you will feel as if you are the part of this office and you will not want to leave it sooner.
Go watch and enjoy it, you will not at all be disappointed.
Black Mirror (2011)
A new adventure with a new episode 😍
This has been a truly adventurous journey of 6 seasons. Each of them unique giving us taste of horror, comedy, dark comedy, wild, politics, suspense and most importantly AI and Technological advancement.
I have been watching Black Mirror from a long time and I can surely say that I have watched some amazing episodes leaving me stunned and apeechless most of the times.
If you are bored to watch series which include too many episodes to finally come to an end then 'Black Mirror' is a perfect thing for you to enjoy. The only thing about this is that not everyone can watch this and No one will be able to enjoy all the episodes, especially the last 2 episodes of season 6, which fell totally irrelevant, weak or dull than all previous episodes or season. But leaving aside those episodes you will surely love this Black Mirror's idea of a single story for a single episode.
Evil Dead Rise (2023)
Not much of a story, still this stands out!
There is not much of a story to this as there is always to any horror movie. But the horror scenes do feel scary due to the location and the acting. The special effects surely leave a mark due to it's minor details and reality. Even the slashing scenes are good and I was hardly able to decide which scene has been shot in reality or which scene includes effects. This one is surely better than the last one in all aspects. Yes we know previous Evil Dead movies but I wish there was some more story to it which could have improved this movie experience. Still this stands out in it's own unique way and this is surely one of the nice horror movie I have seen recently.
Farzi (2023)
Watch it, you won't regret at all 👍🏼
I thought what is there to show in a usual crime topic of fake notes? But there is too much to see, says Farzi. The cast does it's magic and for me, Firoz stands out in his performance and Vijay sarcasm made me laugh a lot, it's just his dubbing that felt a little apart.
The story is very well shown, it's fun in the beginning, a little slow in the 4-5th episode but it picks up after that. Farzi's more connection with The Family Man, I want to see it more actually because if both of these come together, there will be lots of fun.
Overall, Farzi is a great crime series with a good story and you will surely like it, no doubt about that.
Mission Majnu (2023)
Great story with good performances
The most gripping thing in 'Mission Majnu' is it's story which at first I thought could be matching to 'Raazi' of course the mission is different but still it clicked like Raazi after watching the trailer but it is not.
The performances from Siddharth Malhotra and Rashmika felt okayish at first but you get used to it and they end up with a good performance overall. The supporting cast was undoubtedly more experienced and they gave what was expected.
This film is well directed but still It does not feel upto the mark. Mostly the action scenes seem to be not well choreographed. However that does not make it a bad watch and even after having these minor loopholes, I enjoyed it.
The Pale Blue Eye (2022)
An almost Shutter Island 👍🏼
You will think about this as a usual mystery movie but actually the killer is different from the stealer. And this is what makes the movie a unique watch. The Pale Blue Eye has a slow first half but undoubtedly picks up in the second half when we are revealed about the reality. Actually 2 realities.
The cast and their performances are on the mark. The direction feels good. It's only the story in the first half which is slow and it almost made me stop watching but I kept going on and got a suspenseful gift from this movie. Somewhat I just got reminded of Shutter Island while watching this movie. Yes it is not that amazing but it is great.
Mystery movie lovers, do not miss this.
Wednesday (2022)
An Absolute Watch!
I hoped 'Wednedsay' to be good but it turned out to be much more than that i.e. An absolute watch.
Coming to the story, it is suspenseful and gripping. And many a times it feels like Harry Potter because of the school, magic and solving a mystery due to which this feels a little predictable. Still it turns on sound to be different from it because of Wednesday herself.
The performances are great by the whole team and many of the actors we have seen before and their experience is enormous but Wednesday shines above all due to her mean attitude, mean expression, mean caring dialogues, mean cute dialogues and mean what not dialogues which surely make us laugh. I have seen Jenna Ortega in a movie previously named 'X' where she played a role of a very simple girl and in Wednesday she felt like a new version of herself and by this we can know what she can do ahead.
After Wednesday the character which I liked the most was the 'Thing' which made us awed did by just hand signals, Wednesday's roomate Enid was cute and funny too.
The CGI in Wednesday looks perfect. May it be the landscapes, animals, fire or the background. It lifts up the show.
Overall you can enjoy Wednesday with your family and have fun with Wednesday's mean attitude and her journey of solving the mystery.
1899 (2022)
Could have wrapped up in 5 episodes 🖐🏻
We have seen series like Westworld and movies like The Truman Show which feels like real life but are actually game shows. This too has the same vibe to it only the reason to do it is different. I was really excited to watch 1899 as it was from the creators of Dark which I have liked before but this felt really slow from the beginning, actually very slow. From total of 8 episodes it felt like the good thing to watch in the first 4 episodes was only the end which makes you watch the next episode and move ahead. This could have been easily wrapped up in 5 episodes but and we would have saved 3 hrs. Leaving that aside, the visuals are good with great performances from the whole team, no doubt about that. Twist and turns, the suspense and the background score is also great. The last episode feels little pacy and somewhat like they did in Dark (confusing) but the end is also not bad. If you like suspense, you will like this but don't expect too much.
Kantara (2022)
Worth a Watch!
Good story, good humour with some fine and decent scary moments and very well acted. The performances of the supporting cast feels natural and I have even the negative role has been acted very well. Action scenes are good and mostly feel real. It is good that it does not overdo the action like some typical south movies.
Most of the story felt predictable sometimes but the climax steals the show. After a long time I have seen a climax of a movie this amazing. Rishab Shetty has acted very well in the whole movie but he truly shines in the end of the movie. This is surely worth a watch movie of this year.
Better Call Saul (2015)
Better Watch Saul 👍🏼
I have watched Breaking Bad a long time ago and I wanted to watch Better Call Saul but I was finding it very slow in the beginning.
Yes it surely is slow in the beginning but you get used to it till the fifth episode of the first season and the speed of the series is justified.
Better Call Saul is that kind of series which gets better with new season. The story is well connected to Breaking Bad and it is directed very well. The camera work and cinematography feels excellent. No doubt about the performance from Bob Odenkirk, I am his fan from Breaking Bad and he shines here amazingly. The performances from the supporting cast is also fantastic which gives us that reality feeling to this series.
There are many times where it gets slow but the slowness gets balanced with the upcoming surprise after the slowness. The show is written with minute details and Saul definitely robs our heart. This is a must watch if you haven't but don't forget to watch Breaking Bad first.
Nope (2022)
A must watch Sci-fi Mystery!
A unique horror sci-fi with a great touch of mystery.
It grips you from the beginning making you eager to continue watching it till the end. This feels like a typical alien movie but it's totally different than what you will think or what you know. Yes It is little slow but the pace of the movie is justified for the suspense build up.
The VFX are top notch with some amazing performances from the cast which feels perfect at their own place. This has been a spectacular and a different watch as compared to the recent Sci fi, mystry or horror movies.
Don't miss this one sci-fi lovers and mystry lovers. Yes there are some horror scenes in the beginning but those just not make this movie a horror watch.
777 Charlie (2022)
You are going to fall in love with Charlie 🐶
Thought it would be a usual man and dog bonding movie but it truly is much more than that. Do not miss this gem. You are going to fall in love with Charlie for sure. Superb, amazing and a must watch 🐶
Ante Sundharaniki (2022)
A must Watch Rom-Com of the year!!!
Plot : A Hindu boy and a Christian girl love and want to marry each other. Due to different religions it is not that easy. This reminds us of '2 States' but it isn't anything like that. Here they plan to tell lies to their families, lies after lies, after lies, after lies and will go to a large extent in order to get married. Thier childhood stories and the connections of the different stories from different time makes us keep continuing to watch it.
Performances : The lead and talented cast of Nani & Nazriya Nazim keeps us glued, make us happy and enjoy the movie of almost 3hrs without letting us know. But most of all the supporting cast is the one which balances this movie with their amazing performances, especially Nani's father in the movie has given a great comic performance.
My Verdict : Despite it's long length Ante Sundaraniki is a must watch Rom-Com of the year. The story is simple yet complicated. Most importantly the way it is directed by connecting stories of lead actors from particular time makes it unique. The whole cast steals the show. It doesn't feels slow or does not bore us. The locations of South and abroad, the sets, lightings makes it look more fresh. There are twists and turns on will surely laugh and be like "Oh no" with a smile on your face. The movie is available on Netflix in Telugu, Tamil and Malyalam. Even though I do not understand any of these languages I enjoyed it with subtitles. Do not miss this one!!!
Major (2022)
A good Biopic 👍
I thought this could be a usual Bollywood patriotic movie and it feels the same in beginning but it paces up and gives us a good glimpse of the life and sacrifices of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan.
Story : The story begins from his childhood scenes which shows us that his father is from Navy and so he to wants to be the same and it also portrays his courage. Then we get to know his college and love life which feels like a regular Bollywood romantic movie but the story gets interesting when he gets into the NSG where he works hard and trains himself to be one of the best and this is what makes him a Major. Then the story focuses on the Taj attacks and let's us know what a great contribution and sacrifice is given to this country by Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan.
Performances : I found the performance of the lead actor Adivi Shesh weak in the beginning (as a collage boy) don't know exactly why but from the time he gets into NSG it felt ok and while coming to the end, great. All the supporting cast has given nice performences especially Prakash Raj.
My verdict : Major is a great biopic and a good way to telling us the story of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, his personal life, sacrifices of his family and himself.. The pace of the movie is good, it doesn't feels slow. The action is good. There are little special effects which don't feel bad and we get a good patriotic movie in the end.
Lost in Space (2018)
A great family sci fi!!!
A great series of 3 seasons. Good acting, nice story, which feels stretched in the second season, some beautiful landscapes from space and earth and excellent special effects. A problematic situation and finding a solution from Robinson's, you get used to it on the go. The bond between Will and the Robot doesn't feel strong on the screen. There are some cute, funny, and amazing action packed scenes. And one more thing which makes it watchable is that you can watch it with your whole family as there is no 18+ scenes in it. If you like sci-fi with a good blend of drama, action, family then you can watch Lost in Space.
Hridayam (2022)
A good romantic movie with a modern touch!
Recently there are very less good romantic movies. Hridiyam feels good one of them. A decent story, well acted, good screenplay and direction. It can be described a normal romantic movie with a slight modern touch to it.
Fresh (2022)
A good thriller 🔪
Well acted. Good story. Yes we have watched many Hollywood movies of kidnapping and selling their body parts but still this strikes differently giving us examples of modern technology as well. A good thriller to watch.
Panchayat (2020)
Panchayat season 2 has brought us the same taste of the series which we have explored in the previous season.
The tale of rural village has returned with kindness, anger, friendship, happiness, sorrow and much more. Panchayat season 2 has brought us the same taste of the series which we have explored in the previous season. The cast, acting, story and the typical village life feels good at it's point. Don't miss this one.
Stranger Things (2016)
Great story, amazing vfx and superb cast...
Stranger Things season 4 volume 1 - I have always liked ST from the beginning. Although the first 3 seasons felt same with just different villians and slight story change. But season 4 feels like a new version of itself. Great story, amazing vfx, superb cast and an interesting end of volume 1, can't wait for volume 2.
Moon Knight (2022)
Being a new Superhero, you easily get used to it.
Another fantastic series from Marvel. The story, action, VFX and the acting performances feels perfect in this one. From the beginning you get gripped to it. It tries to get loose in between but picks up soon. Being a new super hero, you easily get used to it. A great watch.
Love, Death & Robots (2019)
Entertaining...
The volume 3 will entertain you just like the volume 2. Can't say it got better but still some unique stories with great animation makes it a worth watch.
Ambulance (2022)
A little disappointment from Michael Bay
Watched this because of the director Michael Bay and was little disappointed. The story of the film is simple, two brothers who plan to rob a bank find it hard to get away from it find the Ambulance at their rescue. There are some decent action scenes, performances are all great. There is not much to show in the story and it feels empty at some point, still the director finds a way out to keep it interesting till the end. Not the best of Michael Bay but still a decent watch.
The Batman (2022)
Not as good as Christopher Nolan's Batman, but still a great watch.
A good drama with some good action, visual scenes and some good performances. It has a long duration which does not feel that long. Not as good as Christopher Nolan's Batman, but still a great watch.
