The Sandman (2022– )
6/10
Great start, then too much wokeism and show is ruined
24 August 2022
I enjoyed many episodes, in particular the 'truth telling' restaurant scene. Even with the excessive progressive liberalism being shoved down your throat it was watchable until the 7th or so, when the story focuses on some 'vortex' event and some cringeworthy characters are introduced, it becomes dull, boring and downright unwatchable. Most scenes with Sandman are good though.

Prey (I) (2022)
6/10
Fairly bad and unrealistic in places, ends abruptly with no climax, but overall watchable.
5 August 2022
This predator movie is not great, but it's far from the mindless abomination that was 'The Predator 2018' and the crap that was 'Aliens Vs. Predator 2004', however, it's somewhat worse than Predators 2010 and a lot worse than the first two movies.

The main character is a female and this movie did manage to squeeze some woke messaging in respect to her being disrespected and disadvantaged by a male dominated hunter society, albeit it's not too overwhelming. There are also several absolutely absurd plot elements that just make you want to cringe, in particular, to do with how she managed to lower body temperature or how she managed to outsmart the predator using his own technology, while having this absolutely confident look on her face like she knows 100% how it will all play out. Also, they really messed up with the predators face and posture and he resembles some kind of hunched over swamp monster more than the typically upright and sophisticated looking creature portrait in previous films, the mandibles were disproportionately large to the rest of the face and cheeks/orbital bones like that of an orangutan.

Overall it is watchable if you want to see some cool fights between a predator and various American wild-life as well as flintlock toting colonizers that were sadly comically evil and hopeless. The predators weapons array was fairly fun too.

The Batman (2022)
5/10
Beta male, emo looking, try hard Batman and Woke messages
19 April 2022
Boring and bad. I find it hard to believe there is so many 10/10 reviews. I enjoyed the Christian Bale Batman movies, heck even Ben Afflek's was more watchable.

The Batman does not have a believable masculine aura and the bad guys are not intimidating, especially Don Falcone that is played by an actor mostly suited for comedy. I guess they had to get less intimidating villains to match a less intimidating Batman.

The plot is actual ok, but the delivery and interactions are bland and forced. Most importantly, the actors do not suit their roles.

Great sci-fi, sadly left unfinished and cancelled

Better than the brainless, woke stuff you typically find today. Sadly, the show got pulled.

Very realistic characters with cynical, pragmatic nature on full display.

Awful, simply awful

Convoluted, boring story line, horrible pacing and soulless characters. Put me to sleep. What a way to ruin a trilogy. You would be hard pressed to watch a worker movie this year. Do yourself a favour and give this one a pass.

Did you like 'The Edge Of Tomorrow'? Then you will almost like this
2 July 2021
I read so many negative reviews about this and was expecting a total borefest. 20 minutes in, lo and behold I am enjoying it! Strong 'The Edge of Tomorrow' vibes and monsters are similar in a way. Chris Pratt's doing a good job and the intensity is there.

The plot is of course not so great, filled with holes and requires you to turn off at least 30% of your brain. Otherwise the movie is very watchable, until you get 3/4 through and then SUPER CHEESE, they basically ruin the movie and take away all rational and make it a big joke.

Very Overrated! You have seen this before. Brainless flick.
29 June 2021
I have no idea how this movie is rated over 7, but don't fall for it. If you are intellectually mature you will find this difficult to watch. Minutes after you watch it, you will never think back on a single scene or character from this movie. There is nothing original or captivating here. Not to mention it is largely the same story from the first movie being recycled. The characters are unrealistic and stupid, the monsters are bland. This should have been a Netflix movie.

Extraction (2020)

Hemsworth lays waste to dozens of Indian police officers to save life of a teenager. What a hero!
30 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
An absolutely brainless action flick, coupled with cheesy flashbacks and cliche 'must save the kid' moral code storyline.

Little to no original elements. You will forget this the next morning.

The main hero is suppose to be a 'good' guy, but ironically goes on to lay waste to dozens of police officers that are merely following orders of their corrupt general. This is also after we hear a speech from the kid about how everyone that his drug lord father kills is someone else's father or son etc.

Long story short. Hemsworth decides to kill half the police force of an Indian town after deciding that he will get the teenage son of a drug dealer, who by the way fails to pay Hemsworth and whose people later try to kill him out of danger!

Life (I) (2017)
Delivers solid entertainment and horror that keeps you on the edge. A good watch with little substance though !
11 June 2017
Ignore the plethora of sub 6 star reviews. This movie is entertaining as far as sci-fi horror thrillers go. Yes, there's a lot of illogical and unrealistic aspects and whatnot if you dissect the movie like a nerd on PMS.

However, if you just want experience tension building suspense, exciting camera work and watch your favourite actors being offed in often original and gruesome ways by a an intimidating, robust and deadly extraterrestrial organism you will not be disappointed !

After you finish watching the movie you do realise it has a weak plot and a rather tacky twist. Until then, it's a fun ride through and through.

To get a sense for my taste in movies, to know what bias to expect in my review:

Force Awakens: Barely average, Rogue One: liked, Star Trek: liked nearly all trek movies in last 20 years. last one was average though, Watchmen: liked, Prometheus and alien covenant: liked

A D grade movie that deserves to go straight to DVD and the bin after that.
15 April 2016
If like me, you liked the original, this will leave you greatly disappointed. No breakdown needed. Just mindless cheese through and through. Whilst the original shocked (in particular the opening scenes) with a grandiose, beyond belief terrorist attack, London has fallen shocks with its stupidity, predictability, poor CGI, complete neglect for any realism (not a even a tad!) and tediously boring action scenes that would be more fitting for a new van dame movie.

There's no need to break down this movie and pick it apart. Because the whole thing is just one big, boring mess of mindless BS.

How this movie got over 6.0 is beyond me ! It almost falls into the 'so bad, it's good category', but not quite, so it's just horribly bad and you won't be laughing either.

3.6 Material.

Cheese, lots and lots of Cheese ! But very little meat !
18 December 2015
Ever seen what seems to be at first glimpse a cool, bad ass, Sith villain in control of an army turn into an annoying, psychotic, nerd with daddy issues and inability to beat a stormtrooper with a lightsaber ?

Watch the force awakens !

Ever seen a cheesy, absolutely artificial and pushed relationship and poor parenthood story that is the trio of Leila, Han Solo and Kylo Ren.

Watch the force awakens !

Ever seen grown people with a supposedly tough upbringing act like little excited children at a play ground in how they interact as they try to portray an image of being hip, young and cool.

Watch the force awakens !

Ever seen absolute disregard for the most probable events/actions that should flow 'believably' and replaced by a fair tale 'Jedi Destiny', main character always pull through type of cheese, then:

Watch the force awakens !
