Supernatural: Wayward Sisters (2018)
YES.
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD YES
ALL OF THE YES.
I'm usually all kinds of ELOQUENT and try to wax-production-credits in my reviews but I'm just over here FREAKING OUT with excitement. EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS. I will be SO DISAPPOINTED if this ISNT picked up.
Supernatural: The Bad Place (2017)
Wayward pilot lead in.
Gonna be as spoiler-free as possible but if you take a cult TV show with seemingly infinite longevity, war-hardened production crew with massive skills, fantastic actors, and shake them up in a bag looking to get a spin off for the new generation, you get the FANTASTIC vigor that is Wayward. A+, 10/10, whatever you need me to tell you.
Fantastic mood camera felt like old SPN courtesy of Sgriccia, giving us grit. Bobo's pen lets us know the fire in our future for all of this. Our new girls are ready to grind. Let's do this. Supernatural, Wayward Sisters, all of it. My body and mind are ready.
Supernatural: Tombstone (2017)
Looks like the studio's finally cluing in.
The staggering ratings recovery of this episode spoke for itself. Mostly a few ornery folks that sustain off of only breathing Jared and Jensen's hair complain, because the network has been making great use of its extended cast. Hell, they're just internationally on WB advertising this as "Destiel." And I mean, let's face it, this entire episode was one giant love letter to the Destiel fandom, and it's about time.
Davy Perez hit it off again, despite the hatred he was receiving from antis before the episode ever aired. His experience in the western genre shined, his standard time-skip narrative took hold immediately, and it just read "DAVY PEREZ" in screaming font to anyone that follows production edges. He captured characters wonderfully, brought life back to the characters that were beaten under the full-mope bus for the last few seasons, threw us a fun case and ultimately, this episode friggin /shined./ Good humor, great thematic music, MOTW including the others, and a real development twist still at the end chaining us into the rest of the season. It's great to see Dean /smiling/ again. Not just smiling - wooping and hooping and hollering, "HEYOOOOO."
That's my opinion of this episode: HEYOOOOO.
