The Muppets Mayhem (2023)
Muppets forever!
The Muppets Mayhem shows a shallow story with perfect music of the famous Muppets' band "The Electric Mayhem". It's an excellent sidekick of "The Muppets Show" coming with some news about the history of the band and their first label. Nevertheless the story is "soft" the characters of the Mayhem like Dr. Teeth, Sgt. Floyd Pepper, Animal, Janice, Zoot and Lips do their best to be adorable again. From the other Muppets it's just Statler and Waldorf who got their cameo in the last track of the season.
Disney tried something new besides Muppets Show and Muppets movies. I think it's a favorable beginning to a new era of and for the Muppets. Go on, Disney! We want more!
Avatar: The Way of Water (2022)
The new amazing blockbuster from the "Blue World"
The new Avatar movie "The Way of the Water" expands the marvellous universe of the "Blue World" Pandora. It shows the undiscussable necessity of the "family" as the smallest item of a Society. It shows the role of being parents and being kids; some using the World as a playground, some talking with the "inner truth" some revolting growing-ups.
Avatar 2 carries our minds off to the turquoise and blue CGI oceans of fantasy and creativity. It could give our minds a rest... but if you don't stop thinking you'll find out that Pandora is not light-years away from Earth - and it's not fiction.
If you watch history you'll find out what "mighty rulers" did to indigenous peoples. On some continents you'll discover that till today.
If you take a look at the present time you'll find out how mankind makes Nature suffering, how mankind destroys the wonders of the oceans, that brutal gruesome whale hunting is still allowed for some countries. And you'll find out that technology is not all and not the way to give peace to your soul.
"Avatar 2 The Way of the Water" is an impressive spiritually movie with a lot of slamming criticisms against the behaviour and bloody ignorance of human beings who had not learned from their mistakes in the Past.
It's not just a movie. Disney responded to this philosophical meaning with the project "Keep Our Oceans Amazing".
The best for all of us in a healthy environment!
Andor: Rix Road (2022)
Bravo ...? 😞
For that end we needed TWELVE Episodes to discover the big enigm that Cassian Andor will join the Rebellion... OMG!
And from the whole season only the last three episodes really had the right tempo of storytelling that they could awake any interest and the public from the boredom of the Galactic slums.
I won't imagine what the next four seasons will tell us. I do hope each season will be more compressed that we had a lower number of episodes. This could improve storytelling.
Diego Luna as Cassian Andor is not that glamorous character to bind the public's interest. And it doesn't depend on embarrassing locations if somebody inspires the fans or not...
Perhaps it would have been better to call the story "Birth of the Rebellion" with other central characters to give Star Wars fandom a chance.
Andor: Announcement (2022)
The show goes on and on and on... without real highlights
If I read the reviews I don't know if I'm the only one who is really bored of that Star Wars show and not interested in what will happen next.
I'm watching it because I'm a Star Wars fan since the beginning in 1977. But it is the FIRST time I'm not curious about what will happen next week!
Watching "The Mandalorian" I couldn't bear waiting! The same with "The Book of Boba Fett". "Kenobi" needed more time for me to become friends with but the last episode was amazing enlightening the whole series!
But "Andor"... it was suspect in the beginning that Disney started with 3 episodes! And it was no fan service as we've seen. If Disney would have started "Andor" episodes one by one the audience would have left after the second latest! Actually we have the 7th episode and it's still boring. Yes there are "some moments". BUT PLEASE why couldn't you offer some more story action and guys we could identify with for the BIRTH OF THE REBELLION???
I REBEL AGAINST THAT praying for the end and hoping the next series would improve. Please Disney read my review...-
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power: Udûn (2022)
Will "Udun" save the day?
I'm very critically to "The Rings of Power" because I love Tolkien and the Jackson movies from it.
The first 4 episodes really tested my patience.
With episode 5 I discovered a "movement".
I think episode 6 could save the day because with the battle of the Numenoreans against the orcs and the evolution of Mordor the show runners hit the very interests of the viewers.
Move on, "Rings of Power"!
You're on the right way to make Middle Earth fans happy!
You told us who "Adar" is. Now explain us the "Stranger", the "Meteor Man". And show us the way to find out who is Sauron.- But please not the promised "King of the Southern Lands" Halbrand...-
Andor (2022)
Who needs the slums of Star Wars in that slow motion?
I don't understand reviews like "best Stat Wars ever" or "missing till now".
I don't think that the worst dirty wrecked devastated places of the galaxy are necessary to know in the Star Wars Universe. I know that they exist like they exist in the REAL world. If somebody is hot for slums please visit them in "Third World" countries on our Earth and leave Star Wars alone!
Ever since the beginning in the mind of George Lucas Star Wars was a "Space Opera", worlds to escape from everyday life and threatening. Star Wars homes archetypes of our inner being, brings "myth" and legends into reality. It has its reference to the real life like our dreams and our soul have it.
If I want to watch a badass war movie I'll watch "Apocalypse Now", "Platoon" or "Full Metal Jacket" but not a Star Wars series!
And that's what the "Andor" show is like until today. Additionally in that "slow motion" that it was necessary to start with 3 EPISODES for not loosing all audience in the beginning dying of incredible boredom!
I do hope the show improves with the recruitment of Cassian Andor and his tasks for the Rebellion to save the show!
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022)
To say it with Shakespeare "Much Ado..."? I'm indifferent
I don't wanted say "...about nothing" because that would be said too bad.
As a really big fan of Tolkien and his worlds I must admit that the Amazon series encourage the glamour of computer generated places like Numenor but show intensive weakness in the characters, in building up the personalities, in touching the audience and taking the audience with the emotions of the show.
To put it in a nutshell- allegory "The Rings of Power" until today has a brilliant cover but the story in the book had bad writers. But don't judge a book by its cover...-
I do hope for the Tolkien's heritage that the show improves, fastens its tempo and will present profound characters more loveable and realistic in the future.
At the final of Season One I must admit I'm ... indifferent. The CGI was worth Amazon's money but that the showrunners needed 6 from 8 episodes to give a move to the story is a pity!
The character building was very weak in the end. We had only 2 characters built up so far. Galadriel was shown as a pubescent-hysteric war lady in Jean D'Arc armour with about 3000 years of age (!!!). The showrunners forgot that the Valar didn't end the ban against Galadriel after the Second Age because she was one of the Noldor originators of the riot against the Valar. So she wouldn't have been able to ship to Valinor!- The showrunners forgot that Galadriel was married to Celeborn and had a daughter Celebrian with him. They settled first in Lindon then Eregion and afterwards founded Lothlorien as a watch for Sauron. Galadriel will sail to Valinor WITH Celeborn in the end of the Third Age- the showrunners let Galadriel say "Celeborn is dead".
The other character was Sauron in the nice guy-camouflage of Halbrand, eloquent and bidding for mercy for his slaughters... To put it in a nutshell the showrunners needed 8 episodes for Galadriel's and Sauron's/Halbrand's dance of feud?
The character building of Durin and Elrond ended in their conversations about Mithril. The new invented Story of Mithril was not reflected to the end by the showrunners: Celebrimbor forged the 3 Rings for the Elves with Mithril and the other 16 for Dwarves and Men without? We have not seen that Celebrimbor forged the other rings that Sauron built the ONE Ring and killed Celebrimbor afterwards.
It was a nice case for the fans to show the Balrog at Khazad-dum. But if the Balrog awoke by the digging of Mithril in the Second Age why should it take till the Third Age to destroy Moria?- In Tolkien's timeline the Dwarves awoke the Balrog in the Third Age in 1980.-
The character of the harfoot Nori was nice but harfoots first appeared in Middle Earth in the Third Age after Anarion and Isildur founded Arnor and Gondor. This was a time more peaceful and save for small ones, that's why.
The character building of the meteor man discovered as an Istar was much too late. And it was unbelievable that the Valar have sent him to Middle Earth to fight evil in mentally blackout for episodes weak and vulnerable against any foes.
The timeline with Numenor and Middle Earth was a disaster. Elendil and Isildur were born about 1500 years after the forging of the Rings. And Isildur died in the show thus he would have had the victory over Sauron in the end of the Third Age???
To finish up my critics I must ask the showrunners if they decided to make The Rings of Power for Tolkien fans or others? IF they did it for Tolkien fans the timeline was a disastrous shame and the workout of the characters do less fit to Tolkien's writings. IF they did it for others why didn't they invent a new Fantasy Story with their own characters and leave Tolkien's heritage like Middle Earth alone?
I don't dare to think of the next seasons. - And it should be 8. - Season Two should take it's time about hundred years in the future.- How old would Elendil Isildur and the not mentioned Anarion then be?- In Tolkien's works Elendil reached 322 years as an Edain of Numenor.- We will se. Hope dies last.-
Eternals (2021)
Well...that's all I have to say
The MCU contains a "mythology" about the big bang and the coming into being with the Celestials and their minions the Eternals. But who got the idea to create a movie about that story???
It's nice to see the arrival of "extraterrestrials" like the Eternals on earth in the Stoneage and to see their acting through the centuries. It's quite nice to see the battles of the Eternals with the supposed "bad" Deviants and finally the disillusion about their real reason of being created from Celestials. But who cares?
In the post-trailer another Eternal called Starfox and Pipp the troll were pushed on scene.- Adam Warlock would've been better I think.
Well...that's all I have to say.
The Book of Boba Fett: Chapter 2: The Tribes of Tatooine (2022)
Boba and the Art of War
The long-timed second chapter leads to the beginning of the conflict between Boba Fett and the Hutts for Jabba's heir.
The other story that Boba remembers in the bacta tank shows how he becomes a leader of the well-known tusken tribe from chapter 1 with battling a Nikto gang at a tosche station and stopping the "spice-train" of the Pykes in the desert. Finally after a mystical moment Boba becomes a "real" tusken traditionally clothed who builds his own gaffi stick.
Star Wars: Visions (2021)
Manga trash, Kurosawa and Lucas may excuse that!
That's a bad parody of Japanese culture and "bushido" without knowing of really magnificent samurai movies of Akira Kurosawa. No respect of George Lucas' Star Wars. Can't bare that manga junk!
The Book of Boba Fett (2021)
Resurrection of the legend Boba Fett
Chapter 1 reveals EVERYTHING about the past of Boba Fett what Star Wars fans since the beginning wanted to know for sure for all the years. This is why story telling is second in this chapter. "The Book of Boba Fett" locates between "Western" and "Crime" perfectly set to music by well-known Ludwig Göransson. I'm anxious to know how Boba Fett will manage his way to the undoubted "daimyo" of the underworld of Tatooine!
Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018)
That's a crime comitted on Star Wars!
It's a MUST to write this critics about the Solo movie. That was the worst ever done to Star Wars. I don't understand Ron Howard who I appreciate as a good director. I don't understand the casting for Han Solo and the sense of the action of the whole movie. The actor Alden Ehrenreich who would have been forgotten immediately couldn't bring on screen the charming, clever and smart character of Han Solo like Harrison Ford did once. The important part of Solo's education in the Empire isn't really worked-out. It sounds like a big joke without laughter. The action of the movie is like a boring rollercoaster ride and in the end there should be a highlight link with Darth Maul!?!
The movie reminds me to the quote of Mr.Hardy to Mr.Laurel: " There's another nice mess you brought me into..."- BUT that's not "nice"!
Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi (2017)
Another Disney Star Wars Film superficially loaded with effects and action without any deepness
I'm with my age a Star Wars fan from the beginning. I love the "Original Trilogy" and the improved digital version, I appreciate the broad-spreaded informations of the "prequel trilogy", I cheered "Rogue One", I have an ambiguous status to the films of the new trilogy.
As I mentioned the films are loaded with action and attractive sets fishing for the applause of the audience and the fans by leaning on the plot and phrases of the "Original Trilogy".
George Lucas used "archetypes" as a fan from the "one and only" mythologist and scientist in religions Joseph Campbell. He invented worlds and characters who could have been possible in reality, he invented a believable system with his "galaxy far far away".
"The Last Jedi" is only a fast-told story without any profundity. The time you hope to get an answer for the most interesting parts (Snoke, Kylo, Rey, the Knights of Ren, the Force actually) the plot switches to another part and leaves you flat. It's only half-truth.
In detail the humour and the new-founded irony is okay. The "porgs" are very "disney-like" but you would love them.
The lack of deepness in the character of Kylo Ren is unbearable! You won't get the answer what turned him that bad to kill his father, to hate Luke, to bow to Snoke, to his relationship to Rey. He has a conflict within. Snoke was responsible for that. Snoke could "reed him like a book" but missed it to pay attention that Kylo will kill him?
Snoke reigns the galaxy on a giant Star Destroyer. He has his own pretorian guards. He founded the First Order. He is the "puppet master". We don't get any answer to him till he was too easily through Kylo.
Leia's rebel flagship was bombed by the First Order. She was pushed into space- helplessly? No she used the Force to glide back into the flagship to be safe. Looked like some "witch thing". Ridiculous.
The rebel flagship navigates in front of the persecuting Star Destroyer in that distance that the guns couldn't reach it. In the meantime they send another ship th a "casino planet" to go for a "decoder" who may switch of the tracking signal on the Stardestroyer. They have the time to come back and board on the Star Destroyer in secret. That sounds "surrealistically". The Star Destroyer does nothing but shooting behind the rebel flagship till their fuel is empty, the rebel flagship does nothing but waiting for any help?!
The character of Finn found no "work-out". Plasma is senseless furthermore. Hux is ridiculous.
Luke is heavily depressed and disillusioned. He hides on a planet in nowhere. The only answer given to the audience is that he recognised the deep badness in Kylo.- That's why he gave up everything? That's why the only wanted to die in his "nowhereland"? Thats why he wont help his friends his sister in a heavy crisis?- That's much too less for me!
He doesn't give Rey lessons in the Force he just talks big about the Force. In the end Yoda- a highlight in the film- persuades him to act with responsibility. Luke confronts Kylo as an "illusion" from his planet and helps his comrades to escape. Then he becomes "one with the Force" totally exhausted and fades away.
Leia- please forgive me I loved her RIP- survives as the only human hero/heroine of the "old human actorship", the one who passed away last december. This is sarcastic, isn't it?
Poor Star Wars...
