Read the Book First then watch this movie!
7 March 2019
I have read the English language translation of Boris Pasternak's famous novel several years ago. The scriptwriters of this film performed masterfully in rendering a highly complex Russian novel into a masterpiece of stunning cinematography. I have the special edition blu-ray edition of this film and have read how the director David Lean insisted on absolute perfection as to the details of sets, props and costumes. This is a MUST SEE classic film for anyone wanting to experience a epic film.

Great Film Showing Strong Female Roles
7 March 2019
I could really identify with the female character 'Lorimar'. She is independent, intelligent and is able to handle a firearm. Honestly, I had to watch this movie about three times in order to really 'get it'. he script is complex and covers a lot of material but at about the third viewing you can readily see the merit of this film. I think that a lot of the negative reviews come from people that don't want to be lectured or taught free-market principles. Moreover, when you consider that this film was produced on a budget of less that $1,000,000 the production value is absolutely astounding!

Excellent Cinemaphotography
14 January 2018
One of the best things about HGWT is that most of the episodes are shot outdoors on location. In the scene after Carl's bath, you can clearly hear the wind and the birds chirping. The scene where Paladin goes out looking for Ben Murdock seems to be actually filmed during a full moon.

Way out of the mood of 1965
24 December 2017
I vividly remember the 1960's. It was the hippie era. The mood of the day was "let it all hang out" with sex, drugs and rock and roll. The Vietnam War was on with campus protests and a very strong anti-miltary sentiment throughout the nation. I was not surprised that NBC rejected the pilot. Here was a TV show about a highly disciplined, drug-free, quasi-military crew in space. Everything about STAR TREK was TOTALLY OPPOSITE what was going on in American society at the time! It was only through the heroic efforts of Gene Roddenberry that this show ever got on the air in the first place!
