JourneyQuest (2010)
Brilliant and funny
With all the focus on special effects in movies today it was refreshing to watch a creative story unfold with great performances by the actors. I thoroughly enjoyed Journey Quest and would have loved to see more.
Star Trek: The Next Generation: The Most Toys (1990)
Data's episode
This is a great episode that explores what Data is truly capable of doing given the proper circumstance. This episode addresses a variety of moral questions and for Data, not unlike Terminator's Skynet, the answer he arrives at is based on logic alone, or is it? :)
Star Trek: Voyager: One (1998)
7 of 9
I've never been as big of a fan of Voyager as the other Star Treks but have always felt that the show got much better starting in season 4. This is one of the best episodes that is not part of the main story line.
The Orville (2017)
Very well done: review of season
The first few episodes start out with more comedy but the cast, writers, producers and directors quickly found their mark and the show transformed into a show worthy to be a Stare Trek series with a feel somewhere between Star Trek iv and Star Trek the next generation. I highly recommend you give it a try and watch the first season.
Star Trek: Discovery (2017)
Spore drive?
I have watched all Star Trek TV shows and movies and this is by far the worst. The characters in this show are unbelievable and mostly unlikable. The plot wanders with little character development and little reason is given to like any of the characters, especially the main character. The main character is suppose to be smart and logical but commits mutiny. All the characters make foolish decisions that cause more problems than they solve just like what you see in a crappy horror film. Saru is a cowardly pansy who shouldn't even be on the bridge. Most of the male characters are portrayed as weaklings or psychotic weirdos. Lorca is the only strong likeable character and he turns out to be a bad guy. Tilly, although timid, is somewhat likable as well. Most the people in the show shoot worse than storm troopers.
The show is suppose to be occurring after Enterprise and yet we don't see any of the first races that humans befriended except Vulcans (ie no Andorians or Tellarians) on the bridge or in the crew unless I missed them in the background. Instead we have a strange cyborgs like Airiam and tasty fish like people like Saru, both of which are never seen again in ST. Perhaps they will become extinct during future STD episodes.
Last but not least they have a spore drive that relies on first a giant physically and mentally oppressed tardigrade and later a "magically" transformed human to control travel via universal fungus that somehow joins all points and dimensions together. No where else in the future timeline of ST do I ever recall mention of a spore drive or magical fungus. It is ludicrous.
The show is certainly not worth paying to watch.
The Ranch (2016)
A true all american show!
The characters in this show are like real life people I know. Excellent writing with a believable plot.
