Hello (2017)
Misfired love story
Hello is about Two childhood friends who accidentally get separated. The rest of the film follows how destiny played a key role in their lives. Except for a few loose ends, it's a masterpiece.
The production values are top-notch. The cinematography and music breathe life into it. The editing, stunts, choreography etc are decent. The performances are good. The acting of kids deserve a special mention. The story is very simple and has an inherent subtlety that connects to the audience.
The screenplay at times is flawed and illogical. And to maintain the fast pace, it was made racy that there is a little time for character development. The lead characters get more screen time compared to all other characters. What bothers most audience is the key events of the story are based on rather silly incidents. These could have been easily improved.
Overall, it's a feel good love story penned over silly logic.
PSV Garuda Vega (2017)
Full of cliches
This movie is a fool's paradise. Those who don't understand the theme may consider it a masterpiece.
The story of the film is related to the international terrorism, and the mindless Director involves Indian Govt. The censor board strictly prohibited several scenes considering the impression they leave, but the mindless Director took it to press meet and started saying that it's his creative freedom. If it's some other country, they would've never allowed such a movie. The critics who are praising the movie don't have basic understanding of the laws & regulations related to the mining of radio-active elements. It is related to the National security and is not as simple as shown in the movie for some local politicians to mine and sell in an international market.
The NSA officers who couldn't decipher the GPS coordinates (even with a N and E at the end, and already knowing that it's related to a location), the hackers who can replace satellite imagery, illegal mining etc are cliched.
Overall, it's a mediocre attempt at something the writer & Director don't understand fully. A little research would have helped them come up with a better script.
Tholi Prema (2018)
Love, Ego and Career
Although titled Tholiprema, the movie has some similarities with Khushi. The character development, story and direction are good. Cinematography and Music are engaging. The performances are convincing.
Although film is good as a whole, there are several illogical scenes which could have been avoided with a little care. Overall, it's another love story in Telugu cinema.
Manam (2014)
Classic Telugu movie after decades
This is a classic feel good Telugu movie after decades of commercial potboilers. The Director Vikram Kumar did a fabulous job weaving the multiple stories into the plot without spoiling the flow of the film.
The music syncs the narrative further elevating the mood of the film. The performances are good. This film will be remembered as a farewell to veteran actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao.
A feel good film with engaging scenes. Overall, it's love in abundance.
1 - Nenokkadine (2014)
Commercial elements spoiled the film
The entire movies revolves around the psychological problems of the lead actor. It is an unconventional film among out of the mill scripts of Telugu cinema. The cinematography and music are top-notch.
The story is gripping, but screenplay has been deliberately spoiled to add commercial elements. The love track has little significance in the overall story. You can sleep during the entire Goa episode, and can still understand the main plot. The stunts and item song are not relevant at some places.
The director Sukumar should have taken care of the screenplay, but he focused mainly on easter eggs which add no value to the overall plot. It's a potential movie, but spoiled just to match the commercial image of Mahesh. It'd probably have been a blockbuster if made faithful to the original theme.
Awe! (2018)
Psychological Thriller
It is an unconventional Telugu film exploring the several untouched themes. The story is good, and the music intensifies the scenes. As the film is supposed to be low budget indie project, the restrictions in Production are evident at several points. The screenplay is not racy and has several unnecessary scenes that slow down the intense thriller plot. The entire film depends heavily on climax as there are hardly any elements to hook audience till climax.
Overall, it's a decent attempt in Telugu cinema.
