Leo (2023)
A great family movie for everyone!
We have watched this twice as a family and it's only just been released. There's plenty of jokes for parents and the children too. Taught some great values and helped us have conversations that can be difficult.
The structure of the writing and the way it unfolds is absolutely perfect! Is it predictable? A little bit, but I did not regret any minute of watching this movie. Definitely lots of laughs.
This should be a movie in school or at least one you have with pizza, ice cream and your entire family. I couldn't recommend highly enough!
If you know some adult Adam Sandler films there will be some extra bits for you to laugh it. 10/10 in our household.
Dog (2022)
More than you expect
I watched this as I was cleaning the house, I thought it would be a predictable American movie; and in some ways it is. After a few minutes I had to stop and watch it properly. I've worked with veterans and Channing is perfect at capturing what they really go through. Then you add in an animal - anyone with a heart will love this movie. Whether you're a veteran, have ptsd, feel a bit lost or just love dogs - you will love this movie.
I have to warn you, there is a very high chance of crying - properly crying. The cinematography only adds to what truly is a beautiful, honest movie and the actors should all be commended.
Don't write it off like I did, it is absolutely worth watching.
Hoffa (1992)
One of the greats
I don't know why there's so many negative reviews- it is long that's for sure however, this is acting, makeup and cinematography at its best. Nicholson completely embodied Hoffa and as for Danny De Vito I don't know how he didn't win an Oscar.
This movie doesn't rely on music to build suspense, it's raw and even though we don't really know, the most realistic depiction of what probably happened.
It is an honest political thriller with some of the best acting from our finest stars. Nicholson is so good sometimes you don't believe it's him. Only criticism was how Bobby Kennedy was depicted - he was much stronger and sure footed - he never backed down or hesitated.
This is the kind of movie that is meaty enough to be studied at school. I personally believe this is a true masterpiece in the cinematic hall of fame.
Bohemian Rhapsody (2018)
Honest and raw
I wasn't lucky enough to grow up with Queen but my parents had their music.
I fell in love with their music and this movie just made me love them more. This was one of the most beautiful films I've ever seen about someone. The acting is phenomenal and if this doesn't touch your heart in some way, then you don't have one.
This movie, and true story, will never lose its relevance through any era. It is raw and honest in a way that would make most directors/actors fearful and excited at the same time.
Well done to every person involved in the making of this movie. Just like Bohemian Rhapsody, you were all part of a masterpiece.
Warnie (2023)
Save yourself the time
Extremely weak series, jumping through ages and no depth to Warnies character. I'm not sure we saw any passion in this series.
I saw him around Brighton and I don't think this depicted how hard it was for him, and how incredible Simone is. Also, his children could see this and I hope they don't.
I can't even tell you what it was about tbh. In my opinion it was offensive to Warnie, his family and his legacy.
I once saw Warnie pick up Maccas from Church St when it used to be there. Out of nowhere about 15-20 teenage girls came screaming around the corner, he ran to the car - Simone was driving and the kids looked absolutely terrified as he ran. Once he got to the car the girls were trying to open the door but Simone was too smart and got her family to safety (luckily with the maccas!).
I don't like cricket, I don't know if I like Warnie as I never met him, but when I watched that I felt nothing but empathy for him and his family.
Boston Strangler (2023)
The depth of character is flawless
There's a lot of people bagging this movie, I don't care if her accent isn't perfect - Keira gives one of her best performances. The cinematography is some of the best seen and whilst you may say it's a story we know, this goes well beyond that.
As the viewer we experience the life of those times, the various people, and we witness how a life of freedom became locked doors and fear.
The depth these actors went to is incredible- they own their character and at no time did they slip. Every single actor was flawless.
If you like these types of movies then I highly recommend watching, there were several times I cried and also felt scared.
Byron Baes (2022)
Not Byron
That is not Byron and how the people are. Cringe your way through if you can but it's a hard no from me. I have been back and forward to Byron for over 15 years and literally (correct use) never met people like this except maybe the art and surf dudes.
Grimsby (2016)
Absolutely fockin brilliant
I literally have sore cheeks from laughing so hard (too many puns in this review). Awesome movie!
The Dirt (2019)
What a surprise!!!
Ok so I am not a Motley Crue fan at all, but my boyfriend loves them so we watched it. And it was fantastic! Absolutely enjoyed the entire movie, what an amazing story, I can even listen to some songs now :-)
The Bad Education Movie (2015)
Just stick with the TV Show
TV show was brilliant, love Jack but this was a pretty movie.
The Secret Life of Pets (2016)
For all pet lovers!
If you have a pet no matter how old you are you will love this!
