Frozen (2013)
Great great great
What a great great great movie! The visuals in this movie are breathtaking!! They are so gorgeous! But, besides the visuals there is such a heart and imagination and creativity to this movie. Anna is such a likable, smart, and relatable person. The voice work for her is so sweet and so good. The chemistry between Anna and Elsa is so great and so natural. The songs in this movie are so charming, catchy and fun! The movie has such an emotional song and it has such heart...I dare say I like it a little more than your average movie theme! The way they sing it you can feel it!! Wow, I just looved this movie and it is great for kids and adults. I will always love it and I wanna see it again!
Moana (2016)
Too perfect to be perfect
This is of course really a lovely, enjoyable cartoon. And basically a fairy tale. One that moms and dads can feel happy to take their children too. Let it be that. There's a lot of remarkable stuff about it. The songs... the views... the sun... the water... everything as perfect as in the countless other Disney movies.
Having said that, some people on these reviews are taking this way too seriously. Why would you give it one star just because other people liked it enough to give it a 10? Is that too show how much smarter you are than everyone else? It really shows nothing but taking a carton movie too seriously instead of just going with the flow. It's not real. It's not a real story. It's a cartoon fairy tale. Hence an 8.
Sea Monsters 2 (2018)
Let the kids decide!
Having seen so many perfect multimillion dollar films where every pixel on the screen says 'sell sell sell', finding an animated film that is not as syrupy sweet is pretty rare. But the question is how much of that million details and the visual achievement is actually noticed by the smaller kids, and especially by those who need a different type of a character on screen to connect with.
This movie is made for the unruly energetic little monsters who make all sorts of trouble noises and smells all day long and have no idea how to behave, and will never be able to sit through Tangled or Frozen. THIS type of kids will LOVE this movie! But it is quite simple visually, not too much information on screen, so i cannot give it a higher rating.
Finding Nemo (2003)
evergreen classic
I may be one of the few people out there that doesn't love Finding Nemo, it was ok but it didn't really do anything for me.
First and foremost, it is GORGEOUS. The colors are striking, the blue tones of the water are realistic at times mesmerizing and the movements of the various creatures are realistic and fluid.
Most importantly though is the story. Nemo's journey is one of self discovery, of living with a disability and all of the hurdles that creates in your life. It's about the way it makes others look at you and how she overcomes that. Not with some miracle cure that instantly solves everything or erases the issue altogether in the end, but with honest to goodness character growth.
Finding Dory (2016)
the perfect family movie
I should be totally honest and confirm to you that everything what they say about this movie is true. It's a brilliantly animated masterpiece with lots of humor that actually works and a plot that really brings tears to your eyes from time to time. The modern artists of Pixar never cease to amaze the audience in expanding their horizons. Finding Dory is visually stunning and you can have nothing but respect for the people who created it.
I was more or less skeptic about watching it, because it was so overhyped ! Two days before it got released in my country, the TV and press loudly announced that the DVD broke all records in the USA during its first release-day. That's usually a sign of being typically mainstream and fake...but Finding Dory is not.
Sea Monsters (2017)
Ask your kids!
Don't make judgement for them. This film is not made for watching after moana or finding nemo, agreed. But let your kids watch it, at the age where the amount of action on the screen is precisely what the younger children can process! They LOVE it - especially the boys, the more energetic, disobedient ones who find the perfect disney stuff way too sweet.
As for the film, it is a bit simple and repetitive visually, hence i cannot give it a 10, but the main characters Chalie and Mucus are so engaing and front and center all of the time and they are so funny they keep the noisy kids glued to the screen!
Coco (2017)
coco
"Coco Montrese, in the challenge we were raised from the dead, but on the runway your Latino blood was muy caliente. You're safe.
Seldom does a movie inspire me and propel me to what's best in filmmaking. Coco is one of those rare films you watch that become an instant classic. And yes, the lustful visuals and the upbeat and melodic songs are a great part of the experience but what makes this movie great, is its emotional sincerity, expertly complemented by Giacchino'a score. It's clear that this movie was based around a simple premise and a love for telling stories. And when that happens, everything else is so much easier. What Coco does fantastically and what so many movies fail to do is building a connective tissue that amounts to something greater than the movie itself, as if the fibres collide to do movie magic. When we reach the climax, it feels so earned because it's simple and because it's based on sincerity. Yes, the driving force of Coco comes from the beautifully apparent simplicity in its storytelling. It's a movie that is both a stunning visual spectacle and a touching piece of art. Also, in a time when racial segregation repeats its cycle of power, it's unusually brave to have an American studio make such a radiant homage to that culture, taking the pre-emptive measures for it to be an honour, not a steal. It comes as a surprise to nobody when I say that this film will leave you emotional (granted you belong to the human race). It's uncontrollable, it's within you to be moved when you have accompanied a character and watch the climax unfold and feel like you have earned the right to cry. And normally climaxes are huge and loud but Coco keeps it simple and quiet as moments that really strike a chord often are. What's also not so common is the movie's thematic lines, as you can't help to find incredibly brave that betrayal, murder and death are topics that the movie delves in profusely (yet never tackily). In the year in which Inside Out was release, that was, hands down, my favourite movie of the year. And, damn you Pixar, it will probably be again this year. At the end of the day, you sometimes go to the movies expecting a certain familiarity, something that you can rely on. Coco feels just like coming back to a loving home, it has the sweet scent of your grandmother's cake, it's as cosy as your childhood bedroom and it reminds us of the reason we keep coming back to these movies: to feel the warmth of the purest form of cinema."

Volki i ovtsy. Beeezumnoe prevrashchenie (2016)
I bought the dvd for my family
The colorfulness of the cartoon and a good graphics at the first look. All characters look very realistic. Further - this is an excellent voice of the cartoon. This is one of the few cartoons produced in Europe, which in truth can be called the pinnacle of cinematography - the script is excellent: the animated life story unfolds in a cartoon of a pack of wolves and a herd of sheep: in nature, after all, wolves should eat sheep. But not here! A brave wolf who, by coincidence and foolishness, turned into a sheep and came to them in the herd: he found new, faithful friends there. They showed each other that it is necessary to be friends. And, of course, there is a love history in a cartoon. I'm 30 years old but I have enjoined this cartoon with my babies! So if you didn't see it earlier I highly recommend it!
9 (2009)
Darkness
"9 is not a casual film. This isn't the kind of movie where you invite a bunch of friends over, expecting an ""awesome"" movie. That's not to say it's a bad movie, it's quite good in fact. It's just not a typical film. It's bleak, it's eerie, and even the action, though strong, has a lot of symbolic meaning.
I don't often watch films like 9, nor do I want to. 9 offers only a few smiles, and no laughs. Rule #1 for me, it has to have humor. I don't mind serious films, but a little humor can go a long way in helping me remember the film, and enjoy it. 9 manages to entertain without laughs.
But 9 has a lot of emotion anyway. Fear certainly comes to mind, as does sadness. The PG-13 rating was not earned from language or sexual content. Part of it comes from the bloodless, yet intense violence. The more protruding part comes from the darkness. Despite it's limited inappropriate content, this is not a film for kids. It's dark themes may even challenge older ones.
The story isn't all that sophisticated, to be honest. And there's more than a few cliches. There are plot points we've seen before, and characters that may evoke a sense of deja vu. But that's okay, because the movie is strong.
The animation is incredible. The musical score, though a little run of the mill, is appropriately creepy, and it knows when to keep quiet. The voice cast is filled with stars that shine, but don't distract.
Of course, you didn't come to see any of that. Depending on who you are, you came for one of two things; an intellectual film, and thought provoking themes, or epic machine vs. rag doll fights.
If action is what you came for, you shouldn't be disappointed. There are plenty of, I shouldn't say duels, but fights between the stitch dolls, and the mechanical beasts. This film is not made up of action throughout, so teens coming ONLY for the action will surely be disappointed, but there's enough action to thrill and excite.
If you came for intellectual stimulation, you will have to wait for after the film to enjoy that bit. During the movie, you will have to do little thinking. This is the kind of flick that inspires conversation after viewing. As the film runs, you simply have to sit back and enjoy.
9 is a wonderful movie. It's by no means, one for the ages, but it's a thought-provoking, heart pounding little flick, that can surely be enjoyed by any one who wants to try something, a little new."
Bolt (2008)
Bolt review
"Well I'm still yet to see an animated film that can topple the mighty 'Toy Story', 'TS' still sits on its throne with the number one spot. But Bolt is a nice film, very sweet, very nice, a touch of emotion and you have a good solid performance.
The story is as usual pretty unoriginal but it still works well, it has a touch of 'Lassie' in there and 'Homeward Bound' with the cross country trek to find the owner but this does give it a soft touch that can pull at the heart strings in places.
It starts off kinda weak, your not too such what the films tag is or where the plot is going but it soon starts to pick up when Bolt reaches NY.
It looks great with some very detailed fur action going on and brilliant movement copying with other animals such as the pigeons. The funniest parts tend to be with the funniest character...that being 'Rhino the hamster', an almost Jack Black type rodent haha not an overdose of humour in the film but most comes from Rhino.
Solid film for all but still cant compete with the mighty 'Toy Story' trilogy."
Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009)
Wes Anderson has done it again
Wes Anderson has done it again with this superbly crafted stop motion animation. Expertly scripted, clever and quirky, Fantastic Mr. Fox is "cus-ing"? brilliant. Funny and accessible for all ages with a soundtrack that is spot on, you get everything you have come to expect for a Wes Anderson film - it all just works together quite perfectly. The usual big names help bring Anderson's script to life, especially Clooney and Schwartzman. Mr. Fox, his wife, son and nephew's lives take a dangerous turn when Mr. Fox's animal instincts turn him to crime as he takes on 3 farmers for their stock and they stop at nothing to catch him. It's cool, quirky and everything you love from a Wes Anderson film. Whether your a fan of his films or watching for the first time, this is a great bit of entertainment. I always thought this deserved the Oscar for Best animated feature in 2009 but was pipped at the post by Pixar's "Up". Bizarrely my mom won't watch this film as she thinks it's strange that foxes are wearing clothes - but if you can get past that - you're in for a treat.
Kubo and the Two Strings (2016)
Fantastic!
Another solid film from studio Laika. It's really unfortunate that this technically tanked at the box office. It's Laika's highest rated film...yet made less than its previous three films. I'm hoping it finds some life on home video and the award buzz surrounding it helps out. The film is about a young boy named Kubo (Art Parkinson) who tells stories to the villagers in the small village beneath his home where he uses magic from his guitar to make origami characters appear. One night he is attacked by the Sisters (Rooney Mara) which leads him on a journey to find the three sacred items that will allow him to destroy the Moon King (Ralph Fiennes) and restore peace to the land. Along the ride for him is Monkey (Charlize Theron) a guardian who has a deep dark secret. Then there's the clueless Beetle (Matthew McConaughey) who doesn't exactly remember everything. The film itself is beautiful. Stop motion at its finest and it weaves together a wonderful tale about loss and memory, but also deals with healing and love. It's great and I can't recommend it enough. I will say the only gripe I had with it was the film ended and I had a few questions that never get answered. Overall, solid animated film good for the whole family give it a look!
