X-Men: Evolution (2000)
Not Bad At All
X-Men as kids...a good idea I'd say. I'm really quite fond of the show, it comes every weekday and, though I'm a teenager, I usually watch it. To be fairly truthful, I do like shows about people with superpowers. Which is one reason I like the snow. I hear there are people complaining of the characters not being involved in enough of the original story arcs, maybe the reason I like it is because I don't know of any of these story lines (save maybe the whole Dark Phoenix thing) but I really don't think an adaptation of a comic book should be down put by some die-hard fans who can't stand the idea of every single detail from the original comic not being in every adaptation.
Friends (1994)
Greatest Show on the Planet Earth
I love this show! I have every single episode and watch as often is I can (much to the annoyance of my family). Now, I know loads of people think that Friends is the biggest pile of garbage on TV.
These people say that acting is horrendous, which it's not. Maybe the story lines aren't very realistic, but the characters are not so overdone in the situations nor do the act as though nothing big is happening is rather large situations. They act (more or less) like regular people would.
And then they target the jokes, when there's nothing to target. I'll give in to the fact that it's not polished, sophisticated humor and it's just slapstick comedy about sex, you know, jokes that you don't have to work to get. But all comedy's don't have to be like that to be good. I mean, face it people, if every single comedy out there was a 'The Office' we're not going to have all that much fun. Sometimes you just need to turn your brain off and enjoy some television.
In any case, I don't care if no-one agrees with me because I think this show ROCKS!
Unfabulous (2004)
Omg none of them can act!!!!!!!
The summary pretty much spells out some of my feelings on this show. None of them can act their way out of bags, they may as well have their scripts while filming (it may even be better...). Jeez, the show's rubbish...Addie practically stalks Jake Bahairi or whatever his name is. In this one episode, she loses her CD of 50 something songs about her love for Jake. It gets into Jake's CD player and she grabs it and breaks it!! Then Jake hand's the CD to her and says that it was very nice but he was seeing someone! Now when will that happen in real life? If someone did that to me, about the CD I wouldn't say something lie "ARGH! YOU BROKE MY CD PLAYER AND YOU'RE STALKING ME STAY AWAY YOU FREAK!" but I'd be really angry if someone yanked my CD player and smashed it.
I mean if the acting is alright but the story lines and authenticity of the show is so unbelievably terrible you just want to scream, or vice versa, I can't enjoy it.
I give it a 1 because there is no vote for a negative fifty million.
Lizzie McGuire (2001)
Suuuure...totally and utterly believable...
Yes...this is an excellent show. You can totally believe everything that happens...because pop stars really do fall in love with you for no reason. Come on man...Disney's worst show ever. You can you possibly believe the tripe these people come up with? Let's start with the star...Hilary Duff? To put it simply, using Hilary Duff and good actress in the same sentence should be made a grammatical error. For example, what does she do when she sees Ethan Craft (who I actually think is not the good-looking) "Th-th-th-th..." good god woman, since when does seeing a guy you have a crush on make you go retarded? The rest of the cast don't act horribly but they definitely do nothing to make of for Duff's acting.
And then there are the plot lines...give me a break. Is Aaron Carter really going kiss a girl who's been sneaking around his video set trying to put him on an audio tape three seconds after he's met her? And Frankie Muniz is going to come to see and old teacher and fall in love with a student of that school when he barely knows her? And, of course, around Ethan Craft she's turns into a blubbering moron but around famous personalities she can string words together to make a sentence fine. Personally, I think anyone who watches this show...and likes it needs to watch more T.V. Sure it's just for entertainment and doesn't need to show deep intellect, but believability is a minimal requirement I think.
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
Nine Rings to Rule them All...
I'm probably one of the many fans who haven't read the book, but Lord of the Rings still rocks! This is without a doubt the best movie I've seen (kicking the Harry Potter movies's asses by a mile). The acting is, from what I think, terrific. Unlike a lot of fantasy books, LOTR seems more than just a fantasy/adventure story. It's almost like a mythology. It's very believable, and Peter Jackson is an excellent director. He made all the actors read the books, that's some amount of dedication if you're transferring a much loved classic onto the screen. I'm told by most people that some of the things from the books where taken out in the movies, but it's still good. But with a book-to-movie you can't add everything and things have got to be taken out. Unlike some book-to-movie movies *cough*Harry Potter*cough* everything taken out seems sensible and there still is some point to the movies.
