Very strong debut from a talented artist
20 March 2024
Honestly, I went into watching 'Exhibiting Forgiveness' with no expectations at all. There's a stellar cast here and I figured anything with Aujunue Ellis was bound to be descent. I was so pleasantly surprised by this film that really tackles some taboo subjects in the Black community like drug abuse, physical abuse, generational trauma, religious abuse, etc. It goes in and takes such a realistic look at the grieving process and what forgiveness actually looks like. The dialog was fantastic and this was my first time seeing Andre Holland in a film. POWERHOUSE. Thank goodness this didn't rely on the tropes that we often see in cinema surrounding this subject matter. Very strong feature debut from Titus Kaphur. I can't wait to see him share more of his art with the world.

A Real Look!
9 February 2007
As a young, professional, black woman, I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. It truly was a different look at interracial dating in this country. For the first time it was told from the perspective of a black woman and not the people around her. This movie was a journey for the main character, Kenya. It was about Kenya's path to discovering her happiness. This movie is nothing like "Guess Who," which I think paled in comparison.

For those of you who are getting angry because it's not representative of black culture, I would have to disagree. My friends and I are all professional black women, but we know how to clown around. Black women do have the same conversations that these characters had on Valentine's Day. It's not something that white Hollywood made up, so get over yourselves.

All in all, this movie is definitely worth seeing. Heck, I own it on DVD and I suggest that anyone who loves a beautiful love story purchase it also.

The District (2000–2004)
Absolutely Love This Show
6 May 2006
Being a Washingtonian myself, I have to say that The District was my absolute favorite show from the beginning. I loved the plots and the characters. Of course the show wasn't the same without Lynn as Ella. And there were some other memorable character like Danny McGregor and Nick Pierce. I watch the reruns every single day. Craig T. Nelson is absolutely amazing in this show. His character Jack Manion is so believable and lovable because he doesn't do anything by the rules, which I love. CBS really had a gold mine with this show and I can't believe they canceled it because it was doing OK without Lynn, but I guess it could never be as good as it was when she was there. I really really miss this show. Thank God for reruns.
