Ad Astra (2019)
A film playing out in space, although not being sci-fi.
A thought-provoking film about loneliness and the dilemmas about space discovery. Brad Pitt's father in this film loses track of himself trying to find other intelligent life. "He only saw what he didn't find, not what he did discover." I made my own little reference to being a maniac and trying to find intelligent life other than humans in this vast universe. It's like trying to find a four-leaf clover on a meadow full of three-leaf clovers. The risk of finding it is very high, you believe it's basically extremely improbable of you not finding it, so you keep looking and looking trying to find that four-leaf clover believing it has finally become your life's meaning to find it and that it would be fate, then finally rest in solace knowing that you fully completed your mission.
Uncharted (2022)
A film for entertainment, but not much more.
I liked the film, that's why i gave it a 7.
But where it lacks in quality are the characters, the story and the stakes. Mark Wahlberg actually works as Victor Sullivan, he completely botches a depictment of Sullivan but he does his own version and he succeeds.
Tom Holland also works as Nathan Drake but there were so many other choices to play that role. The innocent, childish and young Holland puts on a performance where there is little to criticize because he is so likeable, but is this Nathan Drake? Or have we gotten a completely different story where the other is innocent as hell and the other plans to make his personality his cat.
The story lacks because of the extremely generic villains. The spaniord is double-crossed and killed halfway through the film where this girl apparently takes over as a new main villain. The problem is they built up the spaniords character, not hers. So we are left with this mysterious character who in the end accomplishes nothing.
The stakes in this movie are sorely lacking. It always feels like it doesn't matter how many hits Nate takes, it doesn't leave a scratch and as usual the opposing troups have seemingly bottom tier iq.
Nevertheless the film is watchable and entertaining, and leaves room for promising upcoming sequels that we might enjoy even more. It's a hollywoodized version of Uncharted which is acceptable but it leaves this generic non-risk taking duo that has no depth in character. Anyways, i believe there is great stuff coming ahead and all i desire is a sequel that is age 15 or something above to make it darker, this was way too friendly.
Gladiator (2000)
Joaquin Phoenix is one of the greatest actors of our time.
There is no denying it. Phoenix in all of his movies he delivers. He commits perfectly to the role he plays and in playing the character Commudus he truly shows, that it doesn't matter if he's the villain or the hero.
The story in this film is quite dark if you think about it. The greatest general of Rome, Maximus continues to obliterate the enemy in his scope with extreme audacity. Although, later on we are introduced to his displeasure battling in the war and his longing to his family at home. The Caesar tells Maximus that he wants him to take over as the new Caesar after he dies. Maximus does not want the throne and so on he refuses to accept the honorful request from the Caesar.
As soon as Caesar tells Commudus that instead of him, the true Caesar, Caesar wants Maximus to take the throne, it all goes to hell. Maximus gets the worst punishment possible (his family gets burned alive and he has to submit to being a slave). And after all this he still manages to rise in the ranks and ultimately overthrow the throne from winning the crowd and killing Commodus.
But it wasn't this simple of a story for me, at least for the character Commodus. Commodus, he's envious, greedy, sad and a very lonely soul. From the very start we see how his own father completely and utterly humiliate him in front of the whole soldier army, and indirectly chooses the general as a "better" son. But he keeps his head up, he knows that he will still be the next ruler of Rome and to marry his own sister. But this plan becomes a lot more difficult when his father comes to him to say that he will pick the general as the next Caesar and not him, and that "Your mistakes as a son, is only my mistakes as a father." Hearing all this, he puts up a beautiful speech and then hugs his father to at last say, goodbye...
Commodus kills his father and then later on picks himself to be the next Caesar as it wasn't official of his father's choice. Maximus's family dies and he gets hunted to be killed so no complications can arise. Everything works out as he wanted but nothing is what he dreamed of. The crowd of the colosseum and entire Rom boos him and want him gone. The senate isn't either to pleased about his arrival but of course one narcissistic guy enjoys his upcoming. Commodus is quickly tired of the senate and want him and his sister only to exist in this purified world. He caresses her often and eventually tries to kiss her but she in no way feels the same, she is terrified of him and hates him.
Commodus doesn't care and forces her to be with him or he will kill her son. Later we see him watching the gladiator games and a particular someone getting extra attention. He goes down to see who it is and yes, it's Maximus. He tells Maximus to drop his weapon if i recall correctly, and after a short solid pause Maximus doesn't follow his orders, the CAESAR's orders. The crowd loves it and Commodus obviously can't kill Maximus in front of the crowd, then it would be impossible to get the crowd back. A little input from myself is that, this is where Commodus realizes that it truly does not matter which position he is in or Maximus for that matter, it all stays the same.
After a few events unravel, Commodus faces Maximus in a 1v1 sword fight. Both lose their sword after a while but Commodus has a knife up his sleeve and tries to stab Maximus but the reverse happens and Commodus tries punching Maximus several times in his arms with nothing happening. Maximus ends it and Rome is saved.
A very fine storytelling indeed. The reason as to why i focused much more on Commodus is because he is certainly more sympathetic and interesting. He truly never understood love or life in that matter. His goals were always deceitful, malevolent and greedy. He never received even an ounce of love in his entire life and all he ever wanted was for his father and for his sister to love him. He never deeply wanted anything more than that. It's heartbreaking and the acting that Phoenix applies to this intricate and lonely soul is absolutely astounding and just beautiful. My words can't merely express enough how great of an act Phoenix puts on.
8.5/10.
Jumper (2008)
One of the few movies on IMDb where the rating perfectly suits the film.
I just saw this movie half an hour ago so my opinion on it might change but probably not.
I have never seen a movie with as much loose ends as this film, probably because the movie only ran for less than 90 minutes, it was hard to pull the strings together.
I love Hayden Christensen as an actor and Samuel L. Jackson isn't bad either, so those two actors really lifts up this film without them it would be easily under 5 in a rating. It's a very cool concept but a very poor execution. For example why on earth did his mom have no reason but to leave him, why is she a paladin, why does she want to kill him and what is Kristen Stewart doing there with her?
Also in the end really nothing is accomplished; David nor the other guy doesn't really impact the paladins. Sure Roland is stuck in the desert at a high level but we didn't see David neutralize him so all he can do is use his phone and they'll easily track him and the movie starts all over again.
Overall: 5.8/10 from me. Good movie, entertaining but so many loose ends for a film on it's own. (It doesn't have a follow-up.)
Rick and Morty: Never Ricking Morty (2020)
Worst Rick and Morty episode i've watched so far.
I give this episode a 5. The storyline in this episode was just all out weird and confusing with one or two funny jokes, the rest just awkward. It's still a rick and morty adventure so i'm not going to give it lower than 5 but if this happens again i just might.
Never Have I Ever (2020)
So unbelievably predictable.
Just finished watching this show and it took me three days.
My personal opinion on this show: It's a concept that netflix have used countless other times in their other teen series but now we see a story about an indian family. Well developed and great actors.
Why it's so predictable: As i said netflix have done a lot of other shows with the same concept so literally after seeing first episode you can see the whole enchilada. Indian family in america, indian teenager neither popular nor geek but hot, teenager wants to be cool now in second year, teenager have huge crush on hottest guy in school, teenager also have a gay friend, a weird friend and a guy rival ever since children.
It's so obvious that the relationship between indian teenager and hottest guy will go up and down but eventually hot guy will decide and go for it or completely let her down whilst that happens rival guy will be shown to obviously be in love with her and they kiss, season 2 hot guy will get jealous, things will go up and down but eventually she will end up with rival.
My rating on this tv-show stands at: 7/10.
Too Hot to Handle (2020)
Sharron is a fraud.
In my opinion i think the series was stupid but very loveable in these times we are in right now. You get addicted in the show fast and would rather watch this than old movies on your watchlist.
I want to talk about Sharron, he's a horrible person. I don't remember which episode but in an episode David literally just gave Rhonda to him whilst Rhonda was equally in to both of them. Rhonda then fell for Sharron and Sharron never thanked David. Not only so just continously throughout the series everytime we see Sharron, he only talks about himself and personal growth to himself instead of actually respecting and doing something for Rhonda and forgetting to thank David for earlier.
In entirety i am quite shook up about Sharron in the show but other than that it was a good show, a 7/10 from me.
The Flash: Death of the Speed Force (2020)
"Death of a puny, tiny, weak speed force and the beginning of a new one".
What an episode imo. Cisco's girlfriend gets trapped in the mirror place, speed force dies, Thawne returns as well as Wally West. I thought this episode had the perfect ingredients with a sidekick flash, Thawne (fan favorite), finally a regular villain and very interesting stories. I give it a 9 here, most definitely one of the best episodes of season 6.
I don't remember who Spectre is, do you guys?
The Circle (2020)
Shubham is my favorite.
The Circle is an addictive, fake and entertaining tv series on netflix. This is in my opinion the kind of tv series you would watch if you have nothing else to watch and all of a sudden you love it. I know i do. Some moments in the series it can be a little bit too fake when for example everybody loves Sean for literally no reason. But in the end you want to watch more and it's a great and chill tv show to watch. An 8.3/10 from me.
Atypical (2017)
Atypical, An Important and great serie to binge watch.
I thought it was fantastic and i never wanted to stop watching it. It's so addicting to see what a autism person does next. It was a great serie because you got to see a perspective from a autism person which is important if you know any. Now i myself have 2 diagnoses so i can relate to some of the things that happens in this serie and i'm not getting insulted by it and that's great, a big plus :). Because from example Alexa & Katie serie apparently people get offended cause the cancer experience isn't like that, that's why that series only has 7.3 in rating on imdb and why this series has an 8.3 rating on imdb. I give it 9.1/10
The Mandalorian (2019)
Oh yes, Best Star Wars Series i have ever seen.
I absolutely love this serie, it's full of excitement and star wars feelings. Now i'm too lazy to do a full review covering why i love it so much but there is actually a few problems with this serie but nothing big. The 6th episode you can LITERALLY skip cause that episode was pure crap, i mean the acting, plot holes, Nothing made any sense that they changed the characters all the time, plus no story progression. So i'm just a little bit upset about the 6th episode, that it went to waste but otherwise a great star wars serie, really looking forward to season 2. 9/10 "I have spoken."
Ford v Ferrari (2019)
Christian Bale surprises me every time.
This Movie is fantastic, the performance of Christian Bale and Matt Damon is terrific and a very good movie overall. If you're looking for a fast speed car movie or a fast action movie like Transporter or Men In Black: International then this is not for you.
8.5/10
The Flash: License to Elongate (2019)
Elongated Man: The Episode
I thought it was pretty good and low key funny.
7.1/10
Brooklyn Nine-Nine: The Swedes (2015)
A Disgrace for 99.
As everybody says Yes they are not even close to talking like swedish people but that's not the only thing everything they say about the swedish people in this episode is fake. Why couldn't those detectives been german or something instead ? But that ain't happening because apparently it's a trend having swedish people in american series these days.
Rating: 0/10
The Flash: There Will Be Blood (2019)
"There Will Be Blood" Review
I feel like a lot of people that watched thought it was emotional and an all around great episode. Unfortunately i was not one of those persons, i thought it was boring and nothing happened. No i get it It was supposed to be a lot of talking and emotional parts but watching 40 minutes of a flash episode by just people fake crying and talking as they already do like half of an episode all the time. I thought it was boring as hell...
Rating: 4.2/10
The Princess Switch (2018)
What the fu-
It was a cute and charming movie all they way to the end and i swear i f:ing lost brain cells, basically my brain just collapsed. Stupidest movie i have ever seen.
Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood (2019)
Pitt and DiCaprio Wow!
Tarantino's New Masterpiece, this movie was truly breathtaking. This movie is 2h 40m on just 69' hollywood and it doesn't need any melodramatic drama to be enjoyable or any big story to be good which makes it a Colossal Success.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine (2013)
This is the best show to ever exist in the world
First, i am Soooo happy that they renewed the show for a 6th and a 7th season cause like srsly this show cures my depression everytime i see it! Highly recommended.
Terminator Genisys (2015)
Fell asleep.
Yep. It started out great and i somewhat liked it and really wanted to keep watching it but, it got very boring and i literally just fell asleep and was so mad at myself that i wasn't able to watch the whole movie. I actually tried once more the next night and yeaaahh... i fell asleep AGAIN! So just too boring but i wanted to watch it.
