The Flash (2023)
Horray, and Yuk!
Michael Keaton IS The Batman. Christian Bale may have been good, but Keaton for me is the best, and in this film he just owns it.
As for Ezra Miller, well he is part of the yuk! I did not like his character
in Justice league, and this film is made all the worse by the two characters. Maybe it was the writing, but it grated on me.
Another Yuk! Was the CGI. Well enough has been said about that on the other reviews. Nice and bright at times, but then when SuperGirl is fighting the Russians, just 1990's BAD.
If it had not been for Keaton, then the scoring would be lower.
I will not be re-watching.
Ms. Marvel (2022)
Very Childish
If you are past your teens, then I think that you will find this outing very immature.
If they did not have the childish animations throughout then show would have been much better.
I would have thought that Kevin Feige could have spread the budget a little to have a main MCU character to make a cameo.
Cosmic Sin (2021)
You must see this film......
Just to see how far Bruce Willis has fallen from being an A-lister.
There is no acting in this film, they all just walked through it.
AWFUL!
The Mallorca Files (2019)
Easy entertainment
Just what is needed in the current situation. This is not a show to be taken seriously. The show is easy to watch without having to think about it, and some of the cases are quite amusing.
The two main characters are well acted for the type of show (It is not Shakespeare!) and the dynamic between them is well paced.
The scenery is splendid to see, especially as it is Winter here in England.
If you want something to while the afternoon away, you will not be upset this his offering.
Please BBC, some more and soon.
Star Trek: Discovery (2017)
I love Startrek, BUT.....
I am struggling with his series.
Maybe a more apt title would have been 'Space love boat'.
Pros: Special effects are amazing, Phillipa Georgiou.
Cons: Acting is generally poor.
A "childish" cadet made first officer? Get real!
A starship spinning about its centre line?
Michael Burnham - besides the Mutinous actions, insubordination is not a likeable character and does not come across as a good Starfleet officer.
Noteworthy: Michelle Yeoh - Best actress by far and playing the most interesting character, Georigiou
Sonic the Hedgehog (2020)
Could have been better....
If they had tamed down, well replaced altogether Jim Carrey.
His comedy is ok for a short period, but them drones on and on.
I went in expecting a kids entertaining program, and that is what I got. I did not have to think about anything, it was served up on a plate. Apart from the first point, great entertainment.
Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018)
Love the Star Wars universe, But....
In my opinion, the Phantom Menace still remains the worst film in the series; the only film that I have only seen the once. Solo is not as bad as Episode 1, but I will not be paying money to watch it again.
Slavery,
Cage fighting,
Child workers,
Child freedom fighters
Cross species (Humanoid/Android) relationships,
Lame Humour
How much of this can we tolerate been forced down our throats in 2hrs?
The only ray of light for me was the gorgeous Emilia Clarke.
Edit: Just returned from watching it again, to see if I was been unfair to the film.
Well, there were only 5 people in the screening, on an evening where the tickets are "2 for the price of 1". Enough said.
Britannia (2017)
Oh my god!!
I tried to enjoy this, but for me, it is just too terrible.
Everyone is speaking in (very) modern English dialects, even the Romans and the Gaul.
Wonderful scenery, but I have no idea what happened to that those parts of Britain, for most of it doesn't exist now.
There are some notable actors / actresses in this production, just a shame that their talents have been wasted.
Episode 1 was endured as a torture. I will not suffer with the rest.
The House (2017)
Truly 'A'wful
I went in to the cinema expecting to be entertained with a funny and entertaining film. Oh how I was let down. The acting if just plain bad. The humour is almost non-existent, and when there is some, it is dragged out until it is no longer funny. Almost from the beginning I was tempted to walk out of the cinema, but I was hoping that the film would pick up - I wasted the 80 plus minutes of my life.
I do not know when I will be able to risk watching another film with either of the lead (I should use the term 'Actors' here, but I felt that there was nothing that could be referred to as acting in the film from them). Avoid, and save some of your life.
