Emotional and gripping
3 November 2023
The first time I watched this movie I was left in tears. As it covers a topic we all know so much about, you'd think that you are prepared for the emotional storyline, however it reveals the true extent of the horrific reality of being Jewish during WW2 in such an emotional way that you feel a genuine sense of devastation after watching it. This movie serves as a grim but much needed reminder of why we must never let history repeat itself. Whilst parts of the movie are bloody, it doesn't rely on visual gore to portray it's purpose and that is important. And, as far as I could tell, it was historically accurate throughout.

Left me laughing at how bad it was
2 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Okay, so this film had promise all the way up until the supposedly scary character appeared. I found the first half an hour to be intriguing and it built the tension nicely. It was clear that there was going to be something evil living in the basement, and when the tunnel is revealed, you know it's gonna be good. But...when you see what's actually down there, it's laughable.

The crazy woman born from incest is who lives in the tunnel, and the reason she kidnaps people is because she wants to pretend they are her baby and then breast feed them. I mean, really? And her catchphrase is "mah...beh-beh..."? I was genuinely laughing out loud when I was supposed to be scared.

I can't believe I wasted my time watching this, and the worst part is that the only reason I watched it until the end is because I wanted to see how much funnier it got. That's not how horror movies are supposed to be! Please don't watch this, you will be very disappointed if you are a horror fan like me.

A movie with no purpose
1 November 2023
Unfortunately, after finishing the film I felt like I wasted my time watching it. It's like a sci-fi horror drama, which is quite a mash up of genres, and it had potential to be good but the lack of storyline let it down big time.

It starts intriguingly, and quickly gets bizarre. Once the aliens have come into play, it starts to become very disjointed and this is where it falls apart for me. You have the easy-to-guess mystery of what the protagonist did to make everyone hate her, and you have the very random appearance of aliens. These two things clash in a way that just seems ridiculous. If the writers had left out the protagonist's past and just made this a sci-fi film, then it would have been much better. To try and weave the two things into one film was just distracting and didn't work.

The ending is the worst part. During the entire film I felt like I was persevering with watching it just so that I could at least see what the director was trying to do, but when I saw how completely random and unbelievable the ending was, I felt cheated. I don't want to spoil it for anyone thinking of watching it, so I won't specify why it was such a let down, but let's just say that it was so ridiculous that it will make you wish you hadn't bothered watching it at all.

Gritty and thrilling
1 November 2023
I was 7 when it was made, so obviously didn't watch it when it came out. My dad highly recommended it to me as he had enjoyed it so much, so we watched it together recently. I was taken aback by how much it captivated me, despite it not being my usual type of film.

The brooding and gritty style of the movie kept the tension going throughout, and the protagonist was the bad guy, which left me with the mixed emotions of trying to see things from his psycho point of view whilst also dreading his next murderous act. It gave an unsettling insight into the mind of a killer, but didn't do so in a way that forced your hand into sympathising with him.

The entire film was intense from start to finish, with the lead actor doing a fantastic job of portraying a man with no regard for others. His poker face expression and total lack of emotion is what gives this movie the status of a classic. I highly recommend it and believe it will always be a timeless classic.

Disney...you failed
19 August 2021
I couldn't watch this to the end, I felt embarrased just to be watching it. The characters had lost all of their charm, and the acting was atrocious, even from Emma Watson which was a shocker. I loved Disney's original, and this was a terrible excuse for a live-action remake. It lacked all the magic of Disney, and it was lame and cringe-worthy. Disney could have done so much better...and I was so excited to see this film too. Oh well.

So disappointed
19 August 2021
I honestly couldn't watch this to the end. It was nothing like the original, the characters had lost all of their charm, and the acting was embarrasing. I was shocked how different it was from the trailer...I know that trailers show all of the good bits, but the trailer was like it was advertising a completely different movie. I love Disney, and I felt ashamed to be watching this movie because it was so low in quality. It lacked all the magic of Disney, and I have nothing else to say. :-(

Pokemon 4Ever is my favourite Pokemon movie!
22 July 2019
What an excellent Pokemon movie! The new characters in this film are very engaging, and I especially connected to Sam.

The twist at the end of the film left me gobsmacked, I won't spoil it for you but it's worth watching the film even if just for the last 10 minutes!

A genuine and heart-felt portrayal of The Lion King
22 July 2019
I went to the cinema to watch this movie 2 days ago, and it was clear that everybody in the audience loved it. There were moments of laughter, for example when the hyena needed personal space, and there were moments where the entire cinema (which included young children) was silent as an emotional scene took place. Throughout the whole film, I felt connected to the characters, and I genuinely felt the hairs on my arms stand on end when the film reached its climax. If you haven't seen this film already, you'd be a fool to miss it!

Bloody brilliant!
22 July 2019
I saw this at the cinema a few days ago and it was fantastic! I'll be honest, I was expecting to be a little bit underwhelmed, but I genuinely enjoyed this film. It was fast-paced yet carefully considered, funny and yet sincere enough for me to take it seriously. Any spiderman or MARVEL fan will love this film.

Funny and thoroughly entertaining!
22 July 2019
This was definitely my kind of film! Me and my sister were p*ssing ourselves laughing at the comedy, honest to God, and the zombies were actually pretty darn convincing too. It was not your average zombie film, and yet it still had enough flesh-eating gore to make it feel realistic. It struck me as being how a zombie apocalypse would actually be, rather than the fast-paced horror portrayals we usually see in zombie movies.

It's probably worth mentioning though that the humour won't be to everybody's taste - my mum was there with us, and she just couldn't connect with the style of comedy, but like I say me and my sister were p*ssing ourselves laughing.

Thought-provoking at times, but overall boring
22 July 2019
The best way to sum up this film is that nothing really happens. There's plenty of drugs, sex, swearing and vomit, but it's a lot less exciting than all of that sounds. I went to this movie expecting it to be raucous, shocking and funny. Instead, it just kind of dragged, with some thought-provoking moments that made you think about real life problems, but plenty of parts that were just boring. I didn't really enjoy this film to be honest, and I don't recommend it.

Genuinely hilarious
14 July 2019
I have just come out of the cinema, and I am buzzing after seeing Stuber! I was surprised by how good it was, because the trailer made it look like it was going to be standard/average.

It was hilarious from start to finish, and everybody in the cinema was laughing. The ratio of action and comedy was perfect, so that it was exciting, thrilling and funny all at once.

All actors did a great job, especially Dave Bautista and Kumail Nanjiani. I highly recommend that you see this film!

Funny and enjoyable
13 July 2019
What makes this film work so well is that the friendship between different species doesn't seem odd. The characters are well defined, each with their own personality traits, and fit well together as a contrast. The humour is light and accessible for all ages, and overall this film would be enjoyable as a family film because it's easy for kids to follow but not boring for the adults.

Incredibly scary in 4DX
13 July 2019
I went to see this yesterday in 4DX, and it was genuinely terrifying. Everybody in the cinema was on edge, you could feel it! The best part about seeing it in 4DX was that the movements mimicked the horrific things happening on screen, for example when somebody was stabbed, something in the back of the chair thrusts into your back as if you too had been stabbed. If I had seen this in 2D, I probably would have rated it 8 stars rather than 9.

The plot was a bit weak, simply because it seemed like the movie was an unnecessary expansion to the franchise and therefore the plot was forced, but the horror movie techniques were brilliant; the suspense was built very well indeed and left me feeling ridiculously on edge, and the jump scares were very effective.

I highly recommend that you seen this film, and, if you get the chance to see it in 4DX, then do it because you will not regret it!

Toy Story 3 (2010)

My favourite Toy Story film
10 July 2019
I had high hopes for Toy Story 3, and it went above and beyond what I expected. Honestly, I would quite happily say that it was perfect. The plot was incredibly clever, and yet unravelled in a way that allowed kids to understand what was going on. Seeing how the characters had developed since the last film was very interesting, and meeting new characters allowed a whole new adventure to unfold. The ending was the most uplifting of all of the Toy Story film endings so far, and it really warmed my heart. I'm sure I'll be watching this film again and again for years to come.

A fabulous sequel
7 July 2019
It's not often that you can say that a sequel is of a higher standard than the first movie, but this is one of those occasions! Toy Story 2 has the same charm and magic as Toy Story, but this time you feel like you can relate to the characters more and the graphics are much better. It might have just been me, but I also felt like I emotionally connected with the characters and their circumstances better. I definitely recommend this film as something to watch as a family, because adults will enjoy it just as much as children!

Basic, boring, and badly voice acted
6 July 2019
The worst thing about this film, by far, was the voice acting. It was lame, cheesy and out of time with the movement of the dog's mouths. Jack Whitehall was awful and unconvincing, and I have no clue why he was chosen as the voice actor for Rex. The storyline had promise, but I was very disappointed by the lack of events. Nothing really happened, and at no point did I even feel a connection to any of the characters. Plus, I expected the film to be amusing, and I didn't laugh once. I really wouldn't recommend seeing this, I saw people walk out of the theatre after around 20 minutes of this film.

Made 20 years ago but still excellent!
4 July 2019
It is clear that Toy Story will be a classic for years to come. Every child wonders if their toys come to life, and if only Andy knew what his toys got up to behind his back! With Toy Story 4 in cinemas currently, it was nice to revisit where it all began. A great family film filled with fun.

Beautiful and entertaining
4 July 2019
I was sceptical before going to see this film, because I thought that the trailer made it look cheesy, but I was pleasantly surprised. It took me around 20 minutes to soften to the film, but I'm glad I stuck with it because as the film progressed it got better and better. The finale is stunning. I recommend this film because it is suitable for family viewing, but bear in mind that very young children probably will be scared by some of the danger and mild violence.

I recommend that you see this is 4DX!
29 June 2019
I went to see Toy Story 4 today in 4DX 3D at Cineworld and it was amazing! The graphics were stunning, the script was clever and humorous, and the plot was both moving and compelling. The newly introduced characters, notably Forky, were strong characters that made for an interesting new film in the Toy Story franchise. If you get to see this film in the cinema before it comes out on DVD, I recommend that you see it in 4DX 3D because the movement, rain and wind made for a much more exciting experience that you and your kids will no doubt love!

A fantastic film that sends shivers down your spine
27 June 2019
With this film having an age rating of 12, it would serve as a fantastic film for a child/teens first horror film. The plot is simple but effective, the climax is chilling, and there are scenes throughout that will send shivers down your spine no matter how many horror movies you've seen before! This film will fill you with intrigue and tension. I highly recommend it!

The Two Ronnies (1971–1987)
7/10
The comedy is quite dated nowadays
26 June 2019
I love Ronnie Barker, he is one of my favourite actors/comedians in sitcoms such as Porridge and Going Straight, but I don't find The Two Ronnies as funny as I hoped I would. I was desperate to enjoy it, but I found myself forcing a laugh at jokes that just weren't funny to me. Ronnie Corbett's style of comedy has never really been my cup of tea, I find it rather dry and predictable, but Ronnie Barker usually says some unexpected things off-script that work brilliantly and give a sense of natural genuine comedy, and unfortunately he just doesn't do that in The Two Ronnies.

Even though this comedy isn't my cup of tea, I've rated it 7/10 because there are some classic comedy sketches in here such as the "four candles / fork handles" sketch.

Rings (2017)

Not as good as The Ring 1 & 2, but still pretty good
26 June 2019
People are making this film out to be a lot worse than it was. I agree with people that it would have been much better received had it been released years earlier, because a considerable amount of time has passed between The Ring 2 and Rings, but that shouldn't impact on people's ratings on the film itself. I also agree that Rings did not have the same strengths as The Ring and The Ring 2, but it still wasn't deserving of ratings as below 5, like many people are giving it. As a horror/thriller, it still had the classic jump scares and suspense, making it a successful horror flick. I gave it 7/10 because I think that that's a fair rating once I've considered the down sides and the positives. I recommend you watch it so you can at least finish the story of Samara's hauntings.

The Ring Two (2005)

Not as good as the first movie
25 June 2019
To put it simply, The Ring 2 is not as good as The Ring. This is for a variety of reasons, but most of all it's because the plot was nowhere near as good. There were several events within the film that weren't convincing because it just wouldn't have happened. I guess you could argue that the situation with Samara would never have happened anyway because the paranormal isn't real, but even if that situation WAS real, then there are several events that just wouldn't have happened, such as the deer crowding around the car, and the kid standing in front of the mirror and taking loads of photos instead of just running away from the figure like any normal kid would.

Anyway, despite it being somewhat unconvincing, I rated it 7/10 because it was still quite scary, and overall I would recommend it to people who have seen the first movie, simply because it is nice to continue the story.

A fantastic remake of the Japanese original
25 June 2019
When I saw this film, I was genuinely scared by what was happening. The idea that you only had 7 days to live once you watched the video was chilling, and when I saw the girl climbing out of the TV and into the room, I literally felt my blood run cold. Considering this is a remake of the original Japanese film, Ringu, it hasn't meant that it's of low quality, and in fact has retained all of the fright of the original. I highly recommend it!
