Everything But a Man (2016)
I'm embarrassed that I watched this movie from start to finish!
You know what this movie portrayed? That a black successful woman cannot find true love. I kept watching this movie hoping I'd see a twist somewhere and that it would take a different turn until I got to the end where I asked myself, "what did I just do?"
Acrimony (2018)
Tyler Perry keeps etching these story lines!
This is the number one movie this year that has chilled me to my bone marrow, reason been that I could relate to what it feels like to loose out on something, after holding on for many years.
Hatred, resentment, bitterness has to be one of the terrible feelings in life. It can drive you crazy that you begin to exhibit things you never thought you could do.
Melinda was sincerely in love with Robert. She loved him so much that she gave him her all. She wasn't stupid. She was just doing for a man what she promised on the alter to do till death do them part. Even at the point of the divorce, she wasn't honestly willing to let go but her sister kept pressuring for Robert to sign the divorce document.
"The battery finally hit" was one the worse feelings too. Robert was very smart to not have agreed to the initial deal of 800,000 dollars. Almost at the moment where Melinda was meant to benefit all she had laboured for in years, she lost it to another woman (a woman from her younger life) who came to enjoy all on a platter of gold. This caused the hatred and resentment and feeling of entitlement in her to triple as she couldn't stand a woman reaping from her sweat of many years.
This movie has won my heart. Tyler Perry will forever remain in the sands of time. He's one of the best producers out there. He's a firm believer of God but when it's time to act a movie and portray all there is to, he does this so seamlessly and perfectly.
