Succession (2018)
A Masterful Family Drama
Wow! Just wow! This is the best series that I have watched since game of thrones even though we all know how that ended. This was a masterful family drama throughout the whole show and even though at first it felt slow. When the family drama begins it definitely shines bright.
Succesion as a series is also a comedy which is really funny, but it never makes it so the viewer can't take it seriously. Since the series is written masterfully and the actors do an outstanding job giving justice to the amazing script. Truly great performances throughout. With alot of standout performances. No bad performances to be found.
The ending though divisive is a great ending for the characters I have learned to care for. Great television and the pinnacle of prestige tv.
3 Body Problem: Countdown (2024)
A Very Good First Episode!
This episode was really good. I liked it quite a bit it has pretty good performances so far and looks great and at times even stunning. I think the best thing about this episode is the feeling of tension that gets slightly released in the end while not revealing anything too significant. The ending is pretty interesting and leaves me excited to see more.
The episode is also a pretty good introduction to this world and the feeling that something bigger than us is present, that is a good thing. Excited to see where the other episodes are headed and yeah overall i'm pretty suprised since I didn't expect to like this as much as I did.
Game of Thrones: The Iron Throne (2019)
The ending crumbled like king's landing
I am sad. I am sad. Why? Because this was not a ending that we deserve aafter so many years. The series as a whole is good and I think even though season 8 definitely is the worst. I thought the first couple of episodes were pretty okay.
I was kinda dissapointed with the fight against the night king since there was so much build up to that fight and all that build up ended in one episode that had a conclusion didn't really make sense.
So yeah that was dissappointing, but not awful. Then the last two episodes made the characters act like kids. The writing is not good! The drama is not your typical amazing game of thrones. And the whole climactic "battle" in episode 5 lacking. With season 6 delivering one of the best battles in tv history to getting easily the worst battle in game of thrones and a 6/10 battle comparing to similar tv shows. Visually it was impressive and of course the sound design was top noth.
The last episode just made absolutely no sense at all. The characters are so dull. It isn't the actors fault since I still think they did the best they could with the script they were given, but the writing is awful. The episode ruins some of the shows character arcs and doesn't seem to care what happened before. It makes no sense. If you couldn't tell already. I am dissappointed.
As Above, So Below (2014)
Very underrated.
This movie is a found footage type of movie, but it has different and cool ideas.
Acting is important in this type of movie. Especially acting that feels natural and not forced. I am happy to say that the movie is pretty well acted and is belivable for the most part.
The plot is pretty simple, but takes some interesting turns and keeps you on your toes so it's not that predictable. That is very important for a film like this.
Many have said that this movie is a found footage movie with a tomb raider theme. I agree. It does have similarities with tomb raider. Even though it is kind of like tomb raider. It doesn't copy tomb raider, but definitely is inspired by it.
Overall the tomb raider theme is good in the movie.
Finally the horror. The horror elements are good. I did get spooked by some scenes. I think if you're looking for a very scary movie this might not be it, but still the horror elements were pretty good.
Should you watch it?
Yes you should. It's a scary good time.
True Detective: Night Country: Part 6 (2024)
Fine episode with a lackluster ending
This was by no means the worst ending of a tv season I have seen, but considering this is a season of true detective. It is unfortunate that they didn't completely stick the landing with the ending.
The season as a whole is a fine season. Even though the series does have problems like the slow pacing and plot points that seem to lead to nothing or very little. It still managed to entertain me with it's pretty good performances by the whole cast.
This episode really is a average episode that describes my feelings of the whole season. It's just average not bad, but not that great.
I want to say that I personally didn't hate the season and really don't get all the hate it has gotten. It's just a average tv season. I guess people expect another season 1. I don't think we will ever see a season that good.
True Detective: Night Country: Part 5 (2024)
Dissapointing episode streak ended!
So I really enjoyed this series in the beginning. This shows setting that was introduced in the forst episode had me really intrigued about where this season was headed.
Then episode 2 gave me confidence that even though this might be a slow burn. This season still has potential.
Didn't like the direction they went with episode 3 and it felt really slow and I didn't really have a good connection to the characters yet.
Where I felt the series was losing it's identity a bit was in episode 4 that felt like a filler episode. Very slow, but still I felt like I had finally understood the characters and their values a little bit better.
Episode 5 is where all this fluff and character development that didn't seem to lead to anything really does lead to something. This is a great episode and if somebody thinks this is a bad episode I strongly disagree with you. We finally get some answers and the plot is actually progressing. Also the acting has been great in this season, but especially in this episode. Great twists and a great ending to the episode.
Now all we need is a great finale and this may be in the running for 2nd place in the ranking of seasons. Kind of a shame that it will not surpass season 1, but I guess nothing ever will.
I'm feeling great after watching this episode!
True Detective: Night Country: Part 1 (2024)
First episode!
Solid first episode that really doesn't deserve the hate that some people are giving it. It isn't bad and actually is a good first episode that left me intriqued and ready to see more.
Hating a episode of a season because it wasn't good is subjective and completely fine. My opinion as a fellow true detective fan is that this was a good episode with interesting introductions for the seasons characters and plot. There wasn't any standouts, but it's the first episode and you shouldn't expect there to be any. Let the characters develop and let's see.
No reason at all to start hating the season as a whole based on one episode. We might get something special that we don't know just yet.
Echo (2023)
Undeserved Hate For a Solid Marvel Series.
This series is not by any means the best that television has to offer and I would rate it a solid 7.5/10.
That being said I don't agree with people saying it felt boring. It does have pacing issues and the main reason is the editing. The editing is sometimes really poorly done. Not saying that I can do it better, but still very weird editing decisions sometimes.
The acting was solid throughout the series with the obvious standout being Vincent D'Onofrio. He does a great job playing Fisk in Daredevil and does it again in Echo. Fisk has less screen time than in Daredevil, but still manages to be intimidating and captivating in every scene he is in.
The plot is solid. Not a masterpiece and can feel like a pretty basic marvel story. Still it managed to keep me engaged enough to make me binge watch the series. The biggest complaint that I have with the series is it's kinda dumb ending that unfortunately feels rushed and unresolved.
In conclusion the series is a solid series by Marvel. I enjoyed it and I think many people will enjoy it too. There are issues like it's pacing and the abrupt ending, but to be fair to the series the ending does give me hope that maybe we will see more series like this from marvel. In my opinion this is Definitely the best we have seen from Marvel lately. Loki was good :).
