Virumandi (2004)
the shot gun scene said it all man...
I was watching this movie in Bombay on cable nearly 6 yrs after its release. I was blown to smithereens. Its so far ahead of its time. I kinda guessed this must have been directed by some genius( later i found out it was Kamal himself). Now, i'm a guy who watches very few Tamil movies ( cos they are very unrealistic, for my liking( i mean no offence) In my college days I watched Mahanadhi, what a classic that was. I bow to u Kamal sir, if u r reading this. I bow to the editor/ sync-sound /sound designers. Even though the use of violence is wrong , its completely justified in this movie.
Very sleek,stylized.
In the Army Now (1994)
this movie is gonna be a cult classic someday
how can anyone berate a movie so funny., give me a break. If u ar looking for a thought provik film this wont be film for you. I watched this film in college , that was around 1995, I saw it again in 1999, I laughed my ass off ( at certain places) thats like more than some films can do. I feel this movie delivers what it promises. It is undoubtedly one of my favorite film. I was disappointed with paulys other works ( jury duty etc) I guess it was shear magic watching the four main characters coming together., some of my fav lines were " christine,( if I got it right)she will drink anything !! and " is the snake done yet". The movie is slap stick at certain places but mostly its genuine comedy. I m shocked this movie has got only 4 stars. I wish the director of this movie makes lots of money someday, cos he sure made me happy.
American Splendor (2003)
an outsider view of American Splendor
hi I'm arun from India., My wife had told me that there is this movie on HBO., wasn't too impressed with the name American splendor and all., must say felt good watching the movie. when the David letterman part came on and you see a different character( real life clip)I felt something inside me open up. most of the simple stuff they have depicted in the movie is so spookly true.,( I'm referring to the part where he changes into a t-shirt and she says., nope)it happens to me everyday. The whole cancer part is very inspiring . I also feel Paul Giamatti as an actor has never got the true recognition that he deserves. I loved him in side ways.
