Tenet (2020)
I really enjoyed it / very interesting but I didn't love it
Great plot, keeps your attention all the way, the plot is brilliant in its twists and turns and keeps you thinking.
My only issue is that I didn't care enough about any of the characters - I really enjoyed Robert Pattinson and Washing is stellar in all the roles I've seen him in - but still I didn't care much about them enough and I should ...
I'm going to watch it again to see if on the second watch it grows on me more.
Nolan is my favourite director and my fav movie is interstellar and all other Nolan ones are closely followed...
Definitely worth watching but I wished I cared more about the characters not only about the twisty plot line.
El hoyo (2019)
Makes you think about wider issues
It's a thought provoking film, at times uncomfortable to watch, but always keeps you interested and makes you think about it after you finished watching it - which for me it's a hallmark of a good movie.
Worth it if your time.
Tarzan (2013)
Good voice actors but pretty bad animation
It's the kind of animation that is not even as good as a video game - the movements and facial features feel so unnatural it's actually disturbing.
My 7 year old son wanted to watch it, so I did ... but not a fan...
Ghostwriter (2019)
My 7 year old likes it
I'm not a huge fan, but my 7 year old likes it ... so the show has hit the correct target audience .... generally speaking most Apple TV shows are very slow .. at least this one is better than amazing stories ....
Turn Up Charlie (2019)
Good and fun, with some depth to it
I had this on my watch list for a while, not sure of what to make of the title, but I do like Idris Elba.... its definitely worth watching it... its funny, has some good family discussions to it, and more depth than one would imagine.
its definitely a team sport, and the entire cast does a great job contributing to the story and makes you feel engaged - they are all likeable characters and you want to see more of them all.
I binged this in a day... I enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to season 2.
Westworld (2016)
Amazing TV Seeies that keeps on getting better and better
On series 1 it sets the scene and series 2 keeps on improving it by developing detailed story lines and amazing concepts and situations.
All the actors are very good. Script, attention to detail, but Ed Harris .... he steals the show when we he is on a scene ...... I love him, I hate him, every time he appears he demands your attention and your reaction ... that's amazing acting prowess, experience and dedication to his craft ... it's a team sport and you need all the actors to make this show so amazing, but Ed... he steals it...
Cobra Kai (2018)
Great to see a new angle, whilst keeping the traditions of the original Karate Kid alive and well
Kudos for the writers of the show for presenting such a fresh angle for the new series! I was a huge fan of the original Karate Kid... and the TV series is excellent! The writing is fresh, addresses similar themes as the original Karate kid, with an up to date angle and view of the world in 2018...
I was always a fan of Daniel (will we see Ali in the show? I hope so...).... but the writers take on Johny Lawrence is fresh and remarkably sincere.... proving there are always two sides to the same story ....
I'm hoping for the series to continue after season 1 ..... well done, great work ... Go Johnny!
Alien: Covenant (2017)
One of the worst movies I've seen in my life... and I love Alien...
I can't believe, how, people with so much experience in making movies, could come up with such an over acted, badly written plot.... so disappointed... I miss it at the movies and ordered the UHD bluray..... waste of money...
If you are a fan of Alien series.... you are likely to watch this anyway .... just prepare yourself to be disappointed.....
Chef's Table (2015)
Inspiring, authentic, human
I'm not a foodie, not a chef, and although I like cooking, I"m not in interested in cooking shows.
I started to watch the series as someone told me the images of the show were brilliant, 4k HDR and I was checking out how it would look on my new 4k HDR TV..... expecting to watch 5-10 minutes and that's it.... oh boy... was I in for a treat!
Seriously .... amazingly creative people, talented / extremely hard working, absolutely focused, to an extreme.... most if not all have a single passion for creativity, freedom, pursuit of excellent.... whatever drives them is completely unique to each Chef... and vastly different from one another....
The way its filmed, the music, the angles, the perspectives of what drives them and the sacrifices they had to make to get there, some selfishly others in pursuit only of their craft and nothing else... extremely interesting, touching, moving...
Every single episode I find myself in awe by the amazing creations, hoping one they I would have the chance (and the money) to experience and savor one of the restaurants/chefs. But above all, I'm moved but why its filmed, the aspect, the human in the story, the journey it takes us the viewer to discover the Chef, its life, what drives them, the people around them to support and give them the structure they need to achieve their vision....
If you go in expecting great images, like I did, you will certainly find the best of what is available right now in 4K HDR streaming.... but, hopefully, you will stick around, and discover so much more....
Amazing show.... give it a go....
Point Break (2015)
Lots of action, awesome stunts, lacking humor, wit and chemistry between the cast
The Good -
Lots of action, amazing stunts, non-stop thrills!
the cinematography and location shots are pretty amazing.... the stunts and action scenes alone are worth watching the movie....
the Bad -
little or no chemistry between the cast, you don't care what happens to them because... there is no charisma or development between them ... like watching a series of YouTube action videos.... the story is thin.... there is no wit or humor in anything on the movie.... I knew I couldn't expect much, specially since I am a fan of the original.... but, I was not impressed....
watch it for the action scenes and cinematography.
Casino Royale (2006)
a new generation of James Bond
I'll start by saying I'm a fan of 007 - specially Sean Connery.
when Daniel Craig was first announced for the role, I wasn't particularly enthusiastic on the choice - primarily because I didn't know him well and I heard rumours about Hugh Jackman or Clive Owen - both suited the perennial James Bond stereotype.
That said, I watched Layer Cake, with Daniel Craig, and was blown away by his performance and also how charismatic he was!! well... I was then looking forward to watching 007 and seeing him in action and how the 'new bond' would go...
The film opened yesterday in Sydney and I watched it tonight with a good mate..... both him and I were absolutely in awe of how good the movie was... not how good the 007 movie was... but how good the 'movie' was.... this is a truly great movie if you are a fan of 007 or not.... can't wait to buy my copy in DVD/HD DVD ...
top action movie.... best 007 movie I've seen... still love Sean Connery, but this is a different Bond...
Daniel Craig... you kicked ass ... well done... can't wait to watch the next installment.. keep them coming!!! Cheers, Marcelo
